First, I am a current contractor and seeking employment elsewhere. I work in Transmission Project Management for some of the worst leadership I have ever had in my 10 year career.
Matt Maloney is the Senior Manager over the department he promoted from within (lineman, Project Manager, Scheduling Supervisor, Senior Manager of Transmission Project Management and now gained the Scheduling department again). His ability to manage a team is sub par but his ego isn't. If you're looking to work for someone that drives his team into the ground, you've found the right place.
Second, Donnie TeBeest is the supervisor under him. Donnie accepted this rotational position and on his watch the turnover is double the national average in the last two years. That's telling! Yet, their Director Tony Jandro, has not addressed it. He's being told this is a resource issue and they can't find good candidates. I've been here 2 years and have see 15 people come and go.
These two gentleman do not have a good reputation throughout Xcel Energy. The only thing that attracts people is the paycheck -- you'll keep quiet and do what you need to for our family for the money.
Do not expect to grow here. Do not expect to have the ability to change the dynamic, you'll have your contract company contact you and you'll lose your employment. I have seen it happen countless times.
Lastly, if you are reading this and considering a contract position for Xcel Energy -- do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. It's not worth you losing your happiness for the paycheck. These gentleman are bullies and treat people like hired help and not human beings. This is not ok and I've communicated it to HR, all that got me was retaliation.
