Telephone response obtained from the company as follows:The company stated that the trimmer was still fairly new and still under a year warranty The company stated the trimmer has a bump knob on it and the only way to determine if the repair was a warrantied item or damage caused by consumer over usage, was to take the trimmer apartThe company stated that per the manufacturer, if the issue was internal, the warranty would cover the repairsThe company stated that the consumer signed a paper stating that if the repair was not a warranty issue, that the consumer agrees to pay a diagnostic fee.The company stated they tore apart the trimmer and and called Ryobi.The company stated that Ryobi determined it was not a warranty issue.The company stated that they called the consumer and advised that it was not a warranty issue and to fix it, all they had to do was replace the capThe company stated the consumer declined, the company stated they told the consumer that they can leave the cap off but consumer will have to pay a diagnostic feeThe company stated that Ryobi asked them to go ahead and fix the trimmer as a customer service gesture.The company stated they did fix the trimmer and the trimmer was given to the consumer at not charge about month ago
