This review pertains to eHarmony's Compatible Partners website, an online dating serviceI have two concerns about the serviceFirst, the subscription process was somewhat misleadingI was interested in a monthly subscription, and the website offered, with a huge font, a monthly renewable subscription for about $It turned out that choosing this option actually meant signing a year-long contract for a much higher price, which, after a year, would convert into a renewable subscriptionThe company did not at all lie about the contract, but its method of hooking me into it was questionableI accepted it because eHarmony used to have a good reputation in the pastAfter a few weeks, it became obvious that the service could not connect me with enough local people to interact with, and it also became obvious (just as any introduction to psychology textbook would show) that attempting to reach people who were not local was pointlessI asked eHarmony/Compatible Partners to consider cancelling my contract and waiving the remaining charges (1/of the yearly contract had already been paid for)At this point several unpleasant practices by the company surfacedOne was that there was no option under the settings on the website to either cancel the contract myself (not even if I wanted to pay the remaining fees for the year) or to even opt out of recurring monthly charges following the expiration of that yearly contractAlthough the Help section (and an e-mail I received from Customer Care) indicated that there ought to be such options and links, there were noneAt that point, as a customer I felt trappedI called Customer Care and discussed my optionsThey stated that I could petition to have the contract cancelled and the remaining fees waived but that they were under no obligation to do that; this is consistent with the unpleasant contract in which I enteredI made that petitionOn the next day, I received a generic e-mail from the company stating that I could cancel the service if I pay them the remaining money for months worth of service; to do that, I would have to go online and click on something under the options section in my accountI went to look, and there was still no such link or option on the websiteSo, basically, still trappedThis is, in my opinion, a company that operates withing the limits of the law but treats its customers in a coercive fashion while pretending to offer customer serviceIt is a clever operation, and it is unpleasant and unfair

e Harmony web-site to meet people is terribleThere is zero customer serviceThere is no contact through there web-siteUntil I got on the Revdex.com web-site that I found alignment phone numberThe only thing they are GREAT at collecting there moneyPeople need to get together and not sign up for e HarmonyI sent feedback notes asking for a refund at the very beginning and never received any feedback

I do not recommend eHarmony for the following reasons: poor business practice of turning on the auto-renew feature after I turned off the auto-renew feature difficulty of reaching customer service to complain about reason number Many matches were located many states away from me probably because many people know not to subscribe to eHarmony and therefore local matches are few and far between

This is a HORRIBLE dating siteI got multiple scammers contacting meThere are almost no decent people on this site as most people don't even seem to check since it's so badThe worst part is they make it impossible to cancelI tried to cancel before my six month membership was up and couldn't contact anybodyFinally I found out that you can't cancel if you don't call on the month of your expiration dateSince I missed that date they renewed for another mosfor a site I hadn't used in months because it is do badSo I had to pay an additional $for for HORRIBLE site

eHarmony's business practices are very unethicalThey are designed to take advantage of assumptions people makeThey automatically turn on auto-renewal and inform you in their "Click to continue" contractSo even though I thought I was purchasing months of access, I was actually agreeing to months at a time which wasn't at all obviousAnyone who has spent anytime on the internet naturally assumes that there is no important information in these sorts of agreement other than standard privacy and usage disclaimersI realize people aren't supposed to assume things, but we live in a digital age now where it is expected that companies will be more or less transparent about things, especially when it deals with customers hanging over moneyAlso included in the agreement is their cancellation policy which requires a cancellation within business days which in and of itself is pretty shortTo top it off though, the accepted methods of cancellation are in person, mail, or telegramNone of these are reasonable in daysAnd seriously, telegram? I don't think most people know that even still existsWhat happens if you don't cancel in time? Oh yeah, they have a no refund policyAnd of course if you ask for one, they point you back at the agreement that everyone skips because no one would expect that it would contain these sort of provisionsNow I did wonder if I would be renewed, so I thought I would check my settings on my phoneThe mobile app doesn't let you get to those settingsSo even though a significantly high percentage of the population uses their mobile device as their primary or sole means of accessing internet based services, eHarmony decided not to allow you to unsubscribe on those devicesAnd instead of conducting themselves like any reasonable business that sends you notifications when you are about to be charged again they just charge you and point at the agreement when you objectUnlike every other company I've dealt with where they care about customer service and the business' reputationeHarmony does everything it can to keep your money instead of treating you with respect as a person who may have more important things on your mind than reading page upon page of a contract to find out about these thingsI tried canceling days after the renewal charge hit my bank account and then I had to explain why I should be an exception to their policyI think they should have to explain in what universe they think their policy is acceptableAnyway, the best they would do is cut my renewal back from months to one and refund the differenceOf course, since the 6-month subscription is a reduced rate, I only got back a little over half my money and got to keep 1/of a subscription renewal I didn't want in the first placeI would never do business with eHarmony again nor would I recommend it to anyone I knowIn fact, I would strenuously recommend against doing business with this company

I signed up for EHarmony in Sept of and had payments of $taken from my Credit CardI actually met my wife on EHarmony, and tried to cancel my account in December of After selecting cancel on the website, I noticed that it would not cancel my subscriptionI looked at the cancellation policy and found that you could not cancel your subscription until the last payment was madeSo on the first week in January of I logged on and cancelled my subscriptionI checked back a few days later to verify that it was closed and thought everything was good Then in SeptOctand Decof I noticed a charge on my CC for for each monthI called my CC company in Decof and am still fighting these charges that I DID NOT AUTHORIZE I would not recommend anyone to sign up on this website, as they will auto-renew your subscription with out your consent then throw their cancellation policy in your face to try and trick you into paying for another year If I loose my dispute with my CC Company, I will never, ever recommend EHarmony to anyone, and will tell them my story and point them to the Revdex.com site

My experience with EHarmony was awfulAt the moment I signed up, it was badThe EHarmony advertisement worded the agreement as if it was months for $but that price was actually per monthI immediately saw the issue and called the office saying I had mis-interpreted the wording and did not want to pay so much per monthThey did agree to switch my plan so that it was more affordableWhile I was on the phone with the representative, I asked her is she could turn off the auto-renewal and she said yes and said it was offThen on the credit card statement in February I was charged for the membership renewal in JanuaryI called to complain and the representative said they could not refund my money but she could make the change so that it was no longer charging meI was irateI said I specifically requested that the auto-renewal be turned offShe then said she sees that in the records that I made that request and sees that I turned it back onNo way did I turn it back onThey must have the web page jerry rigged to turn it back on to scam people out of their moneyStay away from this company - it is a scamFurthermore, all those questions and none of it lead to anythingThis member ship was a total waste of money and time!

Eharmony has zero customer service THey just want your moneyTheir site is not user friendly The matche sthey send will disappoint you - sometimes the matches they send are no longer even active on eharmony When you do cancel, expect to continue to receive "daily matches" emails every day You can attempt all you want to get them to stop sending you emails It will not stop I canceled my month membership because I was not meeting any single personI was about a month in, and realized what a waste of my time and moneyBut I didn't even get all mad and try to get a refund (I read plenty of reviews and so I knew this was not possible)I just canceled and wanted to end my "Relationship" with eharmony permanently Not to be Dailt emails stating "here are your new matches!" "look now" etcTHis continues today Even after trying to contact eharmony to get htem to remove my email from their mailing listsEvery spammer in history has a "unsubscribe" option./ But not eharmony! And you have no one to call and no one to email to help youYou will be haunted forever

I find eHarmony to be very deceptive in their billing practicesDefinitely buyer beware because when a company does not allow for cancellations without first paying for everything and quite possibly falling into auto-renewal, they have something to hideNot good business practicesNot asking that you guarantee me the love of my life because that is impossible BUT there is an expectation that the site work properly, the matches are active people, you have the number if members you claim to haveThe scientific matching system is lame and it feels as though the matches are randomMany times I wonder if the matches are even interested in an interracial relationship or am I just getting arbitrary matchesThis is a $lesson that I am trying so hard to justify in my head but when I get these sorry matches on a daily basis, I get mad all over again

Absolutely an amateur site charging up the wazoo for services worse than free dating sitesThere are numerous errors in the webmaster programming For exampleThe filter "show users with photo" did not work, when attempted to be fixed that same checkbox hid everybody and stated I do not have any matches matching that criteriaFinally that filter was fixed after several more feedbacks I sent Another problem is simple yet unprofessional: When hovering over a user's information page you get pop ups stating similar to "look at pictures" "send smile" and sometimes these text words and banner stay active when scrolling through the rest of a member's page Another problem: When answering questions there is a leveling problem where the drop down list for a question will appear under the existing page and although you can check which answer you choose, you still cannot click "Answer" when finished with your decision Another problem: Uploading pictures doesn't always work

I signed up for eharmony services and at the time, the only way you could sign up was to agree to an autorenewal of your subscription The time period of my autorenewal was months When I went to close my account, following the directions from the help settings, "turn off autorenewal" and "close my account" were not options When I called the company, they said they were not options because I still owed two payments The eharmony cutormer service person told me my account would not be closed until I paid two more payments because they renewed my account for one year There was no other way to close the account We went back and forth about the extra charge, I became very infuriated and told him I wanted to know where in writing I signed up for a year autorenewal because I was going to take the paperwork to an attorney and sue for the basic principal of them bullying me into paying more than I agreed to Once I mentioned sue, he told me I would be refunded $and my accout would be closed The company feeds on people being busy I tried to close this account months ago, and there was no options on the website to close the account, I didn't have time to look up the number, so it stayed open for another months It is awful how this company is stealing money from people! Don't use this service!!!

All I did was register with this stupid website and then literally seconds later I got an email saying ACCOUNT CLOSURE! I was like ***! I had to register with a different email address on my pc and then that account closed Then I registered from my school just to try it out and it worked Many weeks later they closed my account again! I hadn't even used it so I know I did not do anything in regards to violations, lol Look this company is a scam and they will only try to waste your money I actually met some very petty and childish women who eharmony said were all great matches for me Almost every woman already had a relationship and was only looking for me to waste my money on them so they could try to use me This is a bad company They closed my account for literally no reason at all If I could reach the owner or someone with a good brain I would empower them to fire their pathetic departments that started this mess
