Ehrlich

Review: Ehrlich came to my home for one spray treatment in May of 2013. I sent them a check for their invoice dated May 17, 2013. They never cashed my check. They called us twice in June and August of 2013 stating they did not receive the check. Twice on both occasions I gave them our credit card information over the phone and they thanked us for the bill of $285.00 owed. Then we begin to receive further phone calls in October and November of an unpaid balance. I called them back again and this time asked them for written or verbal confirmation back that the credit card information was sufficient. Finally after all these attempts to pay our bill, they called me the last week of November and left me a voice message that they were able to process our credit card and our bill was $0. Nevertheless, they have proceeded to report us to a collection agency despite our $0 balance. I have called them on numerous occasions and they have assured me we owe them no money and that they would communicate with their collection agency as such. They have refused to send me anything in writing regarding our $0 balance and now I am receiving numerous threatening phone calls and now mailing from their collection agency: [redacted]. I have no further recourse as I have called them again and faxed and sent them a letter in writing for them to review and fix their mistake, but they refuse to call or communicate with me. The collection agency is claiming another residual bill of $107.75 that Ehrlich says is due. Again, however, over the phone the original bill of $285 Ehrlich agrees is paid and is verified by my [redacted] bill this past month as billed. I am suspicious that the are trying to use unfair business practices to threaten me with excess billing after delaying and not charging me after my multiple attempts to pay them over the last 6 months in good faith. I do not know if they use this tactic with other customers but this excess bill has no merit and cannot be explained except that they invented it.Desired Settlement: I require as I have always asked them to send me a letter stating my balance is $0 as well as a letter of explanation from them and their collection agency for why they send me an excess bill and that they are incorrect and that I have no residual bill and that this is resolved. Communication by phone is not sufficient as they have been dragging this out and have been dishonest in their dealings with me. Their collection agency must send a final letter of $0 balance and an apology.

Response:

Ehrlich Pest Control provided service to the account of [redacted] on May 16,2013 and June 4 2013. According to the letter a check was sent and never cashed by Ehrlich Pest Control. I cannot confirm or deny that a check was sent, but no one can remember a check being sent.

We did receive a credit card and tried to put the payment through on June 10th, 2013, however the credit card was declined. After numerous attempts by mail and phone calls (23 attempts between 7/15/13 -11/7/13) the account was assigned to a collection agency.

On November 29th, 2013 a payment of $285 was made on a credit card, however the credit card agency charged an additional fee of $107.75. I have called our accounts receivable department and have removed the credit card company fee of $107.75 so the balance is zero. Please note that [redacted] the credit card company does not report to credit agencies so the customer can rest assured that this will not affect their credit record.
