This is the worst landlord I've rented from in my 20 years of renting in and around the Pittsburgh area. The building and my apartment were disgustingly dirty, worn and outdated. They do not take care of their tenants or respond in a timely manner. The water turns brown every so often and there are neighbors that appear to be violent and unsafe. I would imagine if an inspector did a report at this location - 2720 Shady Ave that they would be shut down. They never fixed my apartment door once the wood rotted and the hinges wouldn't work leaving my apt completely open to theft and intruders. The doors and locks are so dated, anyone could get in. The backdoor is constantly open and unlocked leaving the safety of tenants in jeopardy, the shelving units in the kitchen were rotted and broken so I could not use any of the drawers under and around the sink. And here's the best part...when I vacated the apartment due to the horrific conditions and horrible ownership, I actually vacated early to be kind because they wanted a tenant to move in sooner (for money reasons). I cleaned and scrubbed the apartment and floors and left the 1 key that they asked me to return. Initially my deposit was $1,025. They held $50 for keys they said they never go, $65 for paint that had been chipped before I moved in (note to self! Take pics of EVERYTHING because they will find what you didn't think of and charge you), $300 for floors they said weren't cleaned and $125 for general cleaning. They did not get a professional to clean that apt because when I first moved in it was filthy. The landlord also told me (Mary) that when I first moved in as long as you got murphys oil soap and washed the floors, you'd be fine. I did just that and they took $540 of my deposit! And I vacated early. They are the most dishonest, unethical owners/landlords I have experienced and I've had some pretty awful landlords. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE! They don't even have a real address - it's a PO box. I should have gone with my gut.
