El Barrio Electronic Repairs

Review: I brought my mac book air pro laptop to this location on 2-2-2013 to repair what I thought, was a damaged screen. I went to [redacted] with the military while the laptop was being repaired. At the time, I had no charger for the laptop, but the store said they had chargers so they could confirm if it worked or not. [redacted] the owner, called me when I was in [redacted] asking me could he open the laptop, stating there was a larger issue besides the screen. I said no, because everything else seemed fine. After my return from [redacted] I came to retrieve the laptop at the end of February, and was told it worked, but they didn't have the charger they claimed to have to show me it was actually working. I obtained a new laptop shortly after, and put away the mac book air pro. After needed some specific software in the mac book air pro, I went and purchased a charger on June 22, 2013 from [redacted] on 18th st in [redacted]. When I plugged it up, I saw that the screen was still broken. My fiance returned the laptop to the location on 6/25/13 around 6:15pm, asking the owner who was there, [redacted] how much would he charge for such an issue to be fixed? [redacted] stated he would charge anywhere from $90, to no more than $120 for this issue to be rectified. There were 2 other employees in the store who heard [redacted] say this. My fiance [redacted] then pulled out the receipt showing [redacted] that his company had charged me $180 for this "broken screen" issue. [redacted] then offered to take the laptop and have another look at it. When my fiance returned to the store on 6/28/13 at about 11am to check on the laptop, he was told over the phone by [redacted] who was called by the employee in store, that the issue with the laptop was indeed the backlight, and never was the screen. [redacted] stated that his company was unable to rectify the backlight issue. If this is so, then I would like to know, why was I not refunded my money originally when El Barrio Electronic Repairs realized that the issue was not the screen. This is bad business.Desired Settlement: El Barrio Electronic Repairs should have returned my equipment to me in February stating that the issue was the backlight, as they now, 4 months later diagnosed. Instead, they kept my money, which was an extreme overcharge I later found out through fiances efforts in speaking to the owner w/out him knowing yet that he was talking to a customer with a previous product, and asking him how much he would charge him for the same service. This is outrageous, I cannot believe companies behave like this
