Review: I went yesterday (07/21) to sell two 14k rings, and this store cheated me, they said one ring was not 14k and that the other was weight in less also when I asked them to do it in front of me they said no, did everything behind the wall lowered the price to 19a gram when gold was paying yesterday at 22 a gram for 14k, then they did not even give me a receipt, where I place my fingerprint on.and I requested it.

Business' Initial Response

When a customer comes into the store to sell their jewelry, we base our offer on the karat that is stamped on the item, then the offer is given; from there if it is accepted or not we pursue the procedure, which is going to the back and checking each individual piece on a special metal x-ray machine which gives us every percent of metal in the item. We then tell the customer what items are what karat and give a new offer if necessary, they can either decline the offer or accept. The way that we pay is 80% of the daily gold market price. Receipts are given to customers upon request, however the receipt with the finger prints are given to Modesto Police and checked by a officer, we do not keep any receipts with finger prints. The reason we can not do this procedure in front of the customer is because like I mentioned before it is a x-ray machine and it can be harmful to others in the surroundings. The pictures are going to be attached in another page showing the items and their corresponding karat and registration to California Department of Public Health Certificate of Registration which is the x-ray machine.
