The [redacted] RXthat was purchased on 10/02/119,(approx) had undergone a safety inspection prior to sale and no issues were found with the water pump or power steeringWe had changed the oil and filter as well as the rear brakesThe car had approximately test drives between inspection and purchaseNo issues were ever present during any of those test drivesWhen Mr [redacted] purchased the vehicle he test drove prior to purchasing the vehicle and no issues were present at that time as wellI have always explained that cars are like a light bulbThat work fine until they dontThere is no prior warning as to when a vehicle will either have a malfunction or a mechanical breakdownNether dealerships nor auto repair shops have any type of crystal ball to see the future mechanical reliability of a carWe can only inspect them and repair what issues we findThat is the reason we offer warranties on carUnfortunately when a car does have a mechanical failure and a warranty company is going to pay for the claim they must inspect the car before any repairs are madeMr [redacted] approved all of the repairs that [redacted] recommendedThe failed component was a water pumpWe offered to pay for that partThe following items were approved by Mr [redacted] ; spark plugs, carbon flush kit, serpentine belt, front and rear struts and mounts, high pressure power steering hose, power steering gear, power steering rack, power steering pressure line, power steering flush, alignment, fuel induction serviceThose items are all maintenance items that are not covered under any warranty except possibly the power steering rack when it had failed not when it was wornI completely empathize with Mr [redacted] but none of those issues were foreseeableI realize this sounds crazy but if he had waited for any of the items to fail they would be covered by the warrantyWarranties are in place for failures not maintenance itemsAll of the above mentioned items had wear consistent with age and mileage of vehicleWe are still willing to pay for the water pump that failed shortly after purchaseAll of the other maintenance items we would have had done at our cost which would have saved considerably over the $ [redacted] charged him in laborI have reached out to Mr [redacted] on the social media forums that he posted on but have never received a response from him

I can only reiterate what was stated previouslyMr [redacted] approved repairs on a car and as such is responsible for those repairsWe cannot be held responsible for what he approves a dealership to fix Had he told them to fix the water pump which was the only failed item we would have paid for that and will still pay for thatI will state again NO warranty company ill pay for repairs that are not authorizedThey do not have to send an inspector to look at the car necessarily, they just have to approve the repairs so people do not just randomly replace unnecessary itemsThe presumptions by Mr [redacted] about how we buy and inspect our cars is not only blatantly but potentially libelousAs we enter our 35th year in business this is the first complaint ever filed with Revdex.comThat is statistically near impossible for an automobile dealershipWe simply cannot pay for maintenance items approved by a customer that we not only had no knowledge of but were never given the opportunity to remedy ourselves

I am rejecting this response because: The SCAM continues. All we wanted was a solid reliable car for my son's daily commute to his work for "Right of Passage" with troubled youth. If we would have driven this car home and had no issues, they guys would have never heard from us againBut that didn't happen. It's now very clear what these guys do here - they buy cars at auctions/in the market, run them through a OBDscanner check to see what codes may pop-up, fix minor things that aren't too expensive, sell the cars on the lot along with a warranty that might cover coming issues. This is probably a very common practice in the "small lot" used car business.Larger dealerships sell "certified pre-owned" used cars where they do through inspections and sometimes costly repairs to build/maintain consumer confidence in their brand - these larger dealerships also sell "used cars" where less work is done similar to what we've experienced.I'd bet 90% of the time, El Dorado Truck and Auto never has a problem with this practice. When you buy a used car you buy the past history and the wear of a vehicle - I understand that.If El Dorado performed inspections on this car, they missed some things. The tire pressure light was on during the test driveThe Sales manger confirmed this and gave us a "due bill" to make this turn offWhile looking at the *** for this car, I noticed that the tires had been filled with nitrogenI asked El Dorado if we could simply put air in the tires to correct the tire pressure lightThe mechanic was asked and he said you could mix Owith nitrogenThat the tires would have to be drained and refilled with OHe also stated that his large compressor was broken and he'd have to used his small one and it would take many hours to do thisEl Dorado sent us to *** for this serviceThis took a couple of hours and *** reported this didn't fix the problem - they called El Dorado while we stood there and reported that it was something else other than the tire pressure. This is an AWD car - so all the parts talk to each other. There were three specific questions I asked the Sales Manager when we bought this car and the warranty because we live miles awayDo repairs have to be made a certain locations that the warranty company designates? The answer was noDo repairs have to be preauthorized leaving it up to the discretion of the underwriters weather they cover items. The answer was no - what's in the contract is coveredDoes this warranty start today/mile 1.Yes - we purchased the option that started immediatelyI felt pretty good that we were covered. We drove the car home - water was gushing from the bottom of the car when we pulled in our drivewayWater pump was bad. There was a terrible steering sound when you would turn the steering wheel in any direction. We immediately called the Sale Manager - explained the situation and he told us to get it fixed at somewhere convenient to us.We worried about whether we needed to tow the car to the dealership or not - it's miles away, so we put coolant back and the car and drove it over the next morning.El Dorado states -maintenance it's like spark plugs, etc - aren't covered - which I totally understandThe warranty does state that if proper maintenance isn't preformed on the car the isn't covered. El Dorado now states that the Warranty company has to inspect the car before repairs can be authorized - how does that workDo they send someone out to the repair shop to argue with the mechanics about whether parts have failed or not?According to them - a "failure of a part" means you have to be broken down on the side of the road somewhere, towed in, diagnosed by a warranty inspector, they can send in any brand of parts they want and performed by any mechanic they want at a rate they chooseMy failure parts made a noise that was discovered by manufacturer trained mechanics. What I expected - that we file a claim with the insurance company and they would come back with what they would cover and the labor rate they would payThat's is.As admitted in El Dorado's latest response - the steering issues and water pump should be covered. So Buyer Beware - they don't do through inspections of the cars and the warranties don't really do repairs. This car is important to our daily lives and we needed itAll we did was buy a car from these guys and drive it home. The truth is on our side and I'm going to do all I can to warn others about what's happening

Attached is the repair bill from the [redacted] Dealership.Several of these items were needed for the 120,000 service - which is my responsibility. However the rack & pinion issues are listed under warranty coverage and also should have been disclosed. The "Due Bill" states the acknowledgment of the "wheel warning" dash light was illuminated and they would repair this.[redacted]

I can only reiterate what was stated previously. Mr [redacted] approved repairs on a car and as such is responsible for those repairs. We cannot be held responsible for what he approves a dealership to fix.  Had he told them to fix the water pump which was the only failed item we would have paid for that and will still pay for that. I will state again NO warranty company ill pay for repairs that are not authorized. They do not have to send an inspector to look at the car necessarily, they just have to approve the repairs so people do not just randomly replace unnecessary items. The presumptions by Mr [redacted] about how we buy and inspect our cars is not only blatantly false but potentially libelous. As we enter  our 35th year in business this is the first complaint ever filed with Revdex.com. That is statistically near impossible for an automobile dealership. We simply cannot pay for maintenance items approved by a customer that we not only had no knowledge of but were never given the opportunity to remedy ourselves.

The 2007 [redacted] RX350 that was purchased on 10/02/2017 119,000 (approx) had undergone a safety inspection prior to sale and no issues were found with the water pump or power steering. We had changed the oil and filter as well as the rear brakes. The car had approximately 4 test drives between...

inspection and purchase. No issues were ever present during any of those test drives. When Mr [redacted] purchased the vehicle he test drove prior to purchasing the vehicle and no issues were present at that time as well. I have always explained that cars are like a light bulb. That work fine until they dont. There is no prior warning as to when a vehicle will either have a malfunction or a mechanical breakdown. Nether dealerships nor auto repair shops have any type of crystal ball to see the future mechanical reliability of a car. We can only inspect them and repair what issues we find. That is the reason we offer warranties on car. Unfortunately when a car does have a mechanical failure and a warranty company is going to pay for the claim they must inspect the car before any repairs are made. Mr [redacted] approved all of the repairs that [redacted] recommended. The failed component was a water pump. We offered to pay for that part. The following items were approved by Mr [redacted]; spark plugs, carbon flush kit, serpentine belt, front and rear struts and mounts, high pressure power steering hose, power steering gear, power steering rack, power steering pressure line,   power steering flush, alignment, fuel induction service. Those items are all maintenance items that are not covered under any warranty except possibly the power steering rack when it had failed not when it was worn. I completely empathize with Mr [redacted] but none of those issues were foreseeable. I realize this sounds crazy but if he had waited for any of the items to fail they would be covered by the warranty. Warranties are in place for failures not maintenance items. All of the above mentioned items had wear consistent with age and mileage of vehicle. We are still willing to pay for the water pump that failed shortly after purchase. All of the other maintenance items we would have had done at our cost which would have saved considerably over the $2664 [redacted] charged him in labor. I have reached out to Mr [redacted] on the social media forums that he posted on but have never received a response from him.
