                On May 17, 2014 a group of approximately 20 people came to the restaurant. I was assigned to attend the party along with another server. A graduation was being celebrated of a young lady who was there. I asked in the beginning if it was going to be one check or separate checks and the party opted for split checks. I asked them to be patient with me and my partner since splitting checks was not that easy. However, we were willing to do it since they preferred split checks. Everything went well; the table received their food and drinks on time. When it was time to split checks I went around and asked everyone what they wanted to pay for. They all said what they had and I went ahead and did split checks. It took me around 15 minutes to do it. I returned and gave everyone their ticket. They started handing me credit cards and cash. I placed all the cash and cards with the each ticket. I went ahead and started running cards. I came back and handed everyone their cards and receipts back for them to sign. Everyone started saying goodbye to each other and left in about 10 min after I handed their receipts. By the end of the night when I started closing my tables I realized a couple of tables were not paid from that specific party. It was about $100.00 I Decided to charge $14 and some change to every person who did pay with a card. I figured they would return and claim the $14 since they did not consume it. My reason for doing this was to get them to come back and figure out who was going to pay for the $100. The other reason I did it was also because I did not have $100 with me to pay for those sales. I’m a student and I don’t think it’s fair for me to do so. I apologize for any inconvenience however, this was my only option. Hope we can solve this in the most calmly matter.
