EL Torito Mexican Grill

You know when you're just craving some good Mexican food?

Well, last week I decided to take my family for an evening out on the town. We had stopped in El Torito Mexican Grill for a bite to eat because Mexican food was surely calling my name.

The venue wasn't exactly full of patrons but there were a couple people ahead of us in line. The hostess said the wait should be about 5 minutes, so we decided to take a seat. About 10 minutes later we were seated, the waiter was already there asking us if we would like anything to drink. I replied 3 waters please, and could we get some chips and salsa?" The waiter said "of course, right away senor." A few minutes later, he returned with our waters, chips and salsa. I took one bite of a soggy chip. It tasted like they were soaked in water. Ewww I shouted! So then I decided maybe that was just a bad one, so I dipped the next chip in the watered down salsa. Hmmm I thought, well maybe we can get a new batch of chips because these ones tasted like wet pork grinds.

After a few minutes we decided what we wanted to order! I always get the carne asada burrito and quesadillas for my kids because they're kind of picky. About 20 minutes went by and we got our food, I took one bite of my burrito and about spit it back out. This thing taste like cardboard! I asked the kids how their food was and they said fine. No complaints with them, but they wouldn't know what good food is anyway since they're only 5 years old. I could barely finish my cardboard burrito and asada that smelled like cat food.

Okay I thought, this wasn't the best meal for a hungry man. After that I just sipped my water and waited for the check. The waiter came back about another 20 minutes later and said "sorry senor, I just got back from my break." Well that's nice to know, thanks for the clarification I thought to myself. We paid and left the building. I have been to El Torito in the past with no complaints, but on this occasion they just weren't on point. Maybe it was just this location but for the future I probably won't be going back to there anytime soon. Thanks for reading
