ElderSpan Management Reviews (3)

I believe Crestridge in [redacted] is an Elderspan facility. While it may be ok for a fairly healthy elder, the memory care part of the facility is lacking. 2 staff per shift to serve 16 rooms (2 couples) 18 patients all who have individual issues. These staff members must assist most with getting up and dressed and seating for breakfast. Go get meals from other kitchen and serve to each patient. Many need assistance getting seated and up to table. Do laundry and deliver to rooms. Answer call buttons for assistance in bathroom etc. get lunch and serve and cleanup. Dole out meds at all 3 meals and bedtime. Dinner same. Get each ready for bed. Deal with helping patients with remotes and phones and whatever us sues arise. Those with communication problems go without needs being met. Water or drinks are not regularly delivered to rooms. No snacks are offered. If someone is having a bad day or not feeling well enough to go to dining room, they don't get meals!!!!! No regular outside time for vitamin D. The activity director is lacking also. Obviously doesn't care about clients. Talks about some behind their backs to others! Not much effort put into activities offered. Bingo takes forever when only one winner and prize is a one bite candy bar-not even snack size. At Easter my mom guessed the number of jelly beans in the jar. What did she win? A bite size candy bar. She hoped for the jelly beans! We went and bought her some. I could go on. The staff are great, but just not enough to meet individuals needs. In a Memory care facility you must be proactive and ask or guess patients needs as they may not be able to ask. One extra staff member could make a huge difference. But no one has asked for my input. No one has offered to sit down and discuss a care plan for our mom. Management is very much lacking in the empathy the staff has.. We are looking for a different place for our mom. It is a nice facility with many caring staff members, but we are paying a lot for extra care that are mom is not getting.

After 3 lengthy interviews, I was offered a position with Elderspan & received a written job offer. Much to my satisfaction, I accepted the position, signed & returned the offer & gave my present employer a 30 day notice. Approximately 2 weeks later, I'm notified that an internal employee (whom the company values & does not want to lose) wants to make a lateral move & wants the position which I accepted 2 weeks ago. To my amazement I am told that Elderspan did not post this position internally prior to public advertisement. Needless to say the president of the company wanted to meet with me to discuss further opportunities available to me within the organization. However during this meeting he spoke of how employees are like "chess pieces" & he has to insert & move people where he best sees fit to meet company needs. I passed on all potential opportunities & consider myself lucky!!! He spoke a lot about the employee who wants the position I was offered & how important it was for him to retain her. He agreed that he wants me to work for Elderspan but currently does not have a position for me despite our signed agreement. UNETHICAL business ran by UNETHICAL people covered by beautiful facilities. I have no trust or faith in this company & am seeking legal advise.
