[I simply want my expensive bike fixed and am willing to pay a reasonable amount to have it done BUt being told by electra on two occasions to bring my bike to the local electra dealer to only be on two occasions that this bike is totaled and there is nothing they can do about it is not acceptable to me They told me originally I would be given a frame to work with and soon after they rescinded that offer I am not pleased with this and want my new bike fixed.]

As a bike company, it is Electra's number one concern to ensure the safety of our valued customers and therefore always advise visiting a certified dealer/ mechanic in order to fully assess any situation, especially when it’s been reported that there may be damage. We are truly sorry if this seemed excessive. As we are not able to view the bike in person, as the certified Electra Dealer is, we have no choice but to trust their professional opinion in matters of repairs and unfortunately it is the case that the mechanic determined your bike isn’t in a condition that is eligible to be repaired, in order to ensure the safety of the rider. Per the first condition of warranties on our frames, which is available online on our website: http://www.electrabike.com/warranty, “Frames carry a limited lifetime replacement warranty for the original owner,” we aren’t able to replace this bike. As was communicated via email, the owner of this particular bike is not the original owner and is therefore not eligible for a warranty claim. It was also stated that the issues regarding the frame were due to alteration of the seat post, and not due to manufacture error. We stand behind all of our products, and to ensure that the quality is transferred from every level, from factory to consumer hands, we require that all of our bikes are delivered to and are built by certified Electra dealers before reaching consumer levels. If our bikes are sold by a party that isn’t certified in quality assurance standards, as was the case here when buying a used bike second hand from a non-Electra dealer, we are not able to issue/ honor a warranty. There was no offer to replace the bike frame as all of our warranty claims/ resolutions would first need to be filed through our certified Electra dealers, which because of the circumstance of this being a bike purchased used, wasn't an option.
