Review: Could you please mediate an issue between me and Electric Motor Service in Finleyville, PA? Their phone number is ###-###-#### If you can’t mediate an issue could you please make sure others know about this situation. Please call me back with your decision. Issue: Pool Motor/pump was not properly rebuilt and was paid in full for services. Now $42.00 more in charges are added after I have brought the motor back in after it was not properly repaired. Owner is hedging on warranting his work. Owner is never present when I call or appear at his place of business. The owner also does not delegate responsibility to his employees to resolve issues when he is not present, which for me is all the time. A fair resolve for me would be for the motor/pump to be repaired correctly at no additional cost. Electric Motor Service Inc (EMS) was paid in full for the rebuild job. Also I will make ANOTHER trip to (EMS) for free, to pick up my motor/pump. I just want this issue resolved with no more costs other than the trip for me to go get my motor/pump back. I’m concerned that if this is not resolved soon this business is going to sell or get rid of my property (pool motor/pump). The motor/pump was taken in the first week of October. The Full Story: I am having a problem with Electric Motor Service in Finleyville (EMS). I had a swimming pool pump motor rebuilt there last summer in July. The owner’s sales pitch to me is that he would rebuild my motor to like new condition for approx. $160.00, however he said he wouldn’t warrantee the motor unless I brought in the pump housing in so that he could replace the pump seals, another $20.00 dollars. I agreed to his terms. (New motor could be purchased online for about $170.00 plus shipping… New pump seals were available for $20.00 I thought it would be good to patronize a local business to have my motor fixed and have my pool back in service a little sooner than ordering a new pump.) I said go ahead and rebuild the motor and I will bring the pump housing in the next day for the seals to be replaced. The motor was to be rebuilt by the owner to “like new condition” and all was needed to be done was install the pump seals the next day. Next Day: The owner was not there and the motor had not been rebuilt. After I complained that I had driven from Belle Vernon to Finleyville a 45minute drive, a worker at the establishment quickly took the motor and replaced the main bearings sprayed some gold paint onto the motor, replaced the seals on the pump housing and I was given the motor in about 20 minutes. The cost? Approx. $179.00. I paid their first bill. Problems: When I got the motor home and connected the wires to the motor I noticed cobwebs still in the unit. Usually when you have a rebuild everything is taken apart, cleaned, inspected and worn parts are replaced. The motor would only start every fourth or fifth time it was turned on. When the pump would not start it created a loud humming sound and I would turn it off when this happened. The motor did not have this problem before I had it serviced, only the main bearings were making noise. I could not use my pool timer either because I couldn’t depend on the motor starting. When I called the (EMS) about the problem the lady who answers the phone said bring it back to be fixed. I told them that I would get the motor started and leave it run until I could get it back to them but wanted them to be aware of the problem. She said OK. I took the pump back to (EMS) the first week of October when I closed the pool down for the season. I asked lady at the desk if she remembered me and showed her the pump numbers (their hand written numbers) on the motor. She said yes that was their numbers. I said I called and told you about the pump not starting and she said she remembered. I left the pump to be fixed. When I returned after (EMS) said to come get the motor they had another bill for me to pay for $42.00 more dollars! I said that the pump was rebuilt and was told it would be restored to “like new” condition and now you want me to pay $42.00 dollars more? The lady said no one but the owner can make a decision about the prices. I asked, can’t I speak with anyone about this problem? She said no. I asked that she have the owner call me. After waiting a week the owner never called. I called (EMS) and the lady who answers the phone said that the owner is not there again and told me the owner said I still owe him $42.00 dollars for the repair. I asked to speak with the owner again and she said he wasn’t there. Seems the owner is not present at his business at least for me. I asked her to have the owner call me to discuss this problem and she said she would relay the message but the tone of her voice indicated I would not be getting a call. This has already cost me $179 dollars, now he has my motor and wants $42.00 more. I am over a barrel here and feel I was cheated by this local business. I have a technical background. I researched the repair of this motor myself and found the following: New main motor bearings cost about $30.00 dollars and seals for the pump cost around $20.00. The owner of (EMS) feels justified in charging more than $212.00 for a poor repair job, not to mention the headaches and inconveniences it has caused me. Please help me resolve this issue.Desired Settlement: see Attached document
