Elegance In Design, Inc Reviews (8)

I hired elegance in design to remodel my bathroom. It was Rob A[redacted] and his wife Nancy [redacted] S[redacted]. After I found out they were not truthful to me about a lot of issues and they don't have an ROC license and their office address they claim to have was not but a mail box at the UPS store on [redacted]. I got very suspicious and asked him to show me his driver license to know who they really are but he refused to show it to me, he said I do not drive. I tried to walk out side to copy his car license number but he physically stopped me and was very upset and started to physically threaten me. I am retired and live by myself and there was him , his wife and and 2 workers. I called the police and officer D. [redacted] # [redacted] showed up and walked with me to get his car license plate number. The police gave him permission to remove his personal tools and all the tile and 2 sinks that I paid for and leave.I paid him $ 5000.00 toward the job he walked away from. That night after 1 AM he called me and threatened me. In the morning I found around 15 E-Mails of threat and real strange and spooky E mails some had bigoted tones etc. They were all from Elegance in Design .On 6/29/2015 judge [redacted] of [redacted] court issued a harassment/protective order against him. We put a tracer on him so we can serve him with the court order to find out that his real name is Robert [redacted] C[redacted] ( not Rob A[redacted] ) like his business card show him as.He got two different addresses but he lives in neither address.I feel that he owes me $1500.00 for the price of the tile , 2 sinks and faucets , shower heads and lights and should refund me.

I should file a complaint against this company but I honestly don't want them in my home after locating information through public records about them and also the horrible experience I encountered. I hired Elegance in Design in July of 2014 to remodel my master bathroom, kitchen and hall bathroom countertops, hall bathtub fixtures and new lighting. I was told this job would take 9 days to complete and here we are a year later. One issue they refuse to resolve is correcting a bathroom exhaust to code.It is supposed to be piped to the outside (which I was told would be done) but just blows into the attic.. I would have never known this wasn't done but had an AC repair man in my attic who pointed it out. The finish work is also horrible, for example a light switch was cut out to much and you can see a hole in the wall . This is not the only issue I have had throughout this job. When the tear out of my master bathroom took place, mold was discovered. Nancy with Elegance in Design put an invoice In front of me for an additional 1400 dollars to remediate the mold because this was outside the original contract however no one had come to even look at the damage and she told me that's the price her contractor gave her. She hired 2 unlicensed workers to take care of the mold and I asked how much they were being paid for the job. The men advised me 320 dollars which is a big difference. She did refund some of the money but told me the tear out contractors charged her extra 150 for removing my bathtub and various other times but would refuse to ever show invoices for any of the additional work outside what I had agreed to . The plumber who she hired did not put on the bathtub faucet on correctly in my hall bathroom which caused the tile to crack and I could push it in (water damage). All she was willing to do is slap on a tile border around the bottom of the tub to replace the tile they ruined which looks ridiculous. There is no doubt they caused water damage and didn't fix it. She actually had the nerve to ask me to pay for half of it for damage they caused! I picked out a bathroom vanity which took months to come in, when she finally said it arrived a man pulled up in a pick up truck with this vanity in the back I asked her if this was the vanity I picked out from Quality Cabinets and she had ordered her reply was yes. When the man was outside by himself I asked him if he made this vanity and his reply was yes. When I confronted her she told me the original vanity was not available and she had this one made (without consulting me first) the finish was horrible, paint strokes and globs of paint that had dripped and dried could be seen. They also got white paint on the black finish of the vanity so nancy put magic marker on it to cover the paint. Obviously I wasn't satisfied so after weeks and weeks of her giving me excuses she had it refinished yet it's not what I ordered. Nancy suggested a seamless shower door for my master shower which she assured me it wouldn't leak sense the shower curb was slanted towards the shower. ( I understand they are not completely water right) Well it wasn't and a large amount of water would leak onto the floor everytime the shower was used. Rob (her husband) and Nancy came over to hang the bathroom mirrors at this point I was still arguing the fact this shower leaked so much water. I was asking questions regarding the shower and Rob her husband screamed at me why I was asking all these questions. At this point being a single woman became frightened by his outburst ( thankfully my brother was visiting from out of town and witnessed this) I asked that Rob to leave my home since I had been dealing with Nancy the whole time and didn't like how he was raising his voice at me. He refused to leave saying he didn't need to go anywhere and continued to scream and yell that he didn't need to leave my property and that he was going to sue me and put a lien on my property. This was all because I was asking simple questions. The men Nancy hired to put in new lighting were not licensed to do so and my kitchen dimmer switch started to making a humming noise and the lights kept tripping the breaker. When I found out these men weren't licensed for electrical I demanded she hire a licensed electrician which she did when the man came to access the problem he came from the attic with wires that were duct taped together and not grounded and stated this could have caused a fire in my home. When I confronted her about the first unlicensed men doing the work she claims she hired a licensed electrician that came when I wasn't home to install the lights but In fact I was home the entire time the unlicensed men were installing the lighting. I could go on and on with the lies/exuses these people have told me. The only reason I continued with them is they had most of my money at this point. Every time there was an issue with something that needed to be fixed Nancy would blame me or tell me I was told something would be a certain way and agreed even though it was wrong ,accused me of sabotaging my own home to get free work, tell me I'm the most difficult client she has ever had, told me she was going to put my name on a consumer list for being a difficult client and my job was the lowest paying job she has ever had. It was like pulling teeth trying to get these people to correct items not done correctly the first time. Recently I found a 5 star review online signed with my full name on it with very specific information about my job praising this company which I did not write. When I confronted her by email she told me surely I had written the 5 star review or one of my friends had and that she didn't write it. I had the website remove it because I don't want my name associated with these people but unfortunately they deleted it before I could get the email address it came from. I would give them negative review for what I had to go through. She told me that writing this review ( which I did not write) was fraud and is a 250 ,000 fine and up to 10 years in prison and I should hire a lawyer because I committed fraud. I only wish I had done my research on them prior to hiring this unlicensed company.

Hello, Revdex.com:Happy Holidays! We just returned yesterday. We were out of town during a family emergency, and we were not aware of this information, and our first complaint.  The [redacted]s are correct, we were not able to have their custom entertainment center delivered,...

as we had anticipated. Their product was not finished by the beginning of April, when they needed to return to [redacted].  Our clients called us on November 4th., upon their return to Arizona, and we requested their product be shipped, ASAP. Having not received the product, or any response from the production & shipping teams, we cancelled our order, which was pre-paid. We emailed our client, that we would refund their deposit, pending the receipt of their product. Unfortunately, we were needed out if town.  We have ordered, and completed several contracts with Mr. and Mrs. [redacted], and have previously, as they are well aware, taken care of all their concerns. We regret that we were not able to fulfill, their, as well as our own, expectations. I will be sending their refund today.  Thank you all, at the Revdex.com, for keeping us informed of our clients' needs, and issues. Review: I ordered a custom entertainment cabinet for our home on January 30 / 2014. It was supposed to be delivered and installed by the end of March. It did not show up and I had to leave my home to go back to [redacted] April 11 as we are snowbirds. [redacted] the owner of Elegance informed us she would hold the cabinet for us till we arrived back in the USA around the end of October. I called [redacted] around November 3 to let her know we were back. See informed me we could not have our cabinet till November 21 or 24. We were not pleased but whatever. we said okay, we will wait. We are still waiting. We have had them on the phone a few times and we are always told that Elegance / [redacted] will check it out and get back to us in 30 minutes or this morning or in an hour or the next morning. She promised to meet me this morning December 12 at 10:00 at our home to give us back our deposit. [redacted] has suggested that before and we still do not have our deposit back. [redacted] e-mailed me this morning and said she could not meet as she was busy. She said she would call later. I wrote her back and suggested I would go and meet her instead as she indicated she was busy. Now it is 3:30 pm and I have not heard from them. We have called Elegance about 20 times since November 24. I have left e-mail messages and have called the 2 phone numbers that I have numerous times this afternoon and have not received a reply. Some of our patience has now disappeared and we felt we should make a complaint. Our deposit was $3700.00. If Elegance would supply the cabinet NOW, all would be forgiven and we and Elegance could move on.Desired Settlement: Cabinet NOW or Refund Check NOW
