Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: Their response does not address the complaint. The contract in question was agreed to on the understanding based on email from Keith (attached to initial complaint) that there was $3500 +/- of labor required to complete work. Further, when I called [redacted] to discuss he explained that the job was very labor intensive and would require 2 days of work. This tired out to a Untrue. Knowing my needs were immediate and having locked my elevator so that no one else could work on it, I feel as though they acted in bad faith by artificially inflating the price and cornering me into accepting  and trusting his estimate. This is a bad business practice and I feel the consumer should be protected from trades acting in bad faith. Lastly, the lump sum contract was to include new parts that were never installed  (See initial complaint). Lastly, they never provided a signed acceptance or receipt as they left my property to confirm time on site it parts replaced per the contract.
I called numerous times to discuss the above and after no response by them I called the credit card company to complain. As of today I have not received a credit.  The reverse was temporary until we come to an agreement. I am happy to pay for the time on site- if they would call to discuss I'm sure we could come to an agreement.

Elevator Service Co., Inc. provided a fully code compliant elevator system in accordance with the State of Connecticut and the National Elevator Code ASME A17.1.The equipment passed an inspection by the State of Connecticut and the Saugatuck Church received a Certificate to operate of said...

elevator. What [redacted] is referring to is a disconnect switch which was furnished and installed by a Sub-Contractor of [redacted]... not Elevator Service Company. Elevator Service Company's contracted scope of work did not include said disconnect switch. Her complaint is not valid and should be re-directed to [redacted] and/or their Sub-Contractor. This issue has been discussed verbally and by email countless times with [redacted]. She has been informed that the additional work(the Disconnect Switch) provided was not even remotely a responsibility of Elevator Service Company. Furthermore, the Maintenance Contract that [redacted] refers to is for Maintenance and has nothing to do with Elevator Service Company to alter work provided by others.

To Whom it may concern,
The Lump Sum Contract stands on its own. [redacted] entered into the Contract under his own free will. The Contract was not a Time and Material Contract. Furthermore, [redacted] was fully aware of our rates and wanted a  Lump Sum Contract and did not want to enter into a Time and Material Contract.
Elevator Service Company indeed originally locked out [redacted]'s elevator based on an unsafe condition which we were obligated to do based upon [redacted] and Connecticut State statutes.
Elevator Service Company provided the services that were mutually agreed upon. However, [redacted] rescinded his payment. Elevator Service Company fulfilled its obligation in accordance with the Contract. The "Bad Business Practice" that [redacted] refers to, should not be directed to Elevator Service Company but to [redacted], who is unfairly not paying his obligation while enjoying the use of his elevator.
In regard to no one from our Company responding to [redacted]'s  complaint, that is an outright lie. Two representatives of Elevator Service Company discussed the issues with [redacted] as well as myself.
In addition, [redacted] by has own acknowledged that he  was not available to sign the Service Work Order at the conclusion of our work.
We are sincerely trying to resolve this issue with [redacted] in accordance with Revdex.com practices, however, if necessary we will take all necessary actions to collect the debt and protect the interests of Elevator Service Company.

Review: I hired Elevator Servie Co of Torrington Ct. They submitted a lengthy contract geared towards installation of an elevator not a repair- they explained they needed me to execute this contract. I had no time as my father-in-law was arriving and I needed the elevator working, and they knew this. This was 5/7/14 for $925. When they came to perform the work they noticed a "dangerous" situation but could not articulate what it was-locked my elevator power supply switch with a pad-lock and left my house. They sent a new contract for $4175 which was to include a Pipe Rupture valve [redacted] for $465 and Slack Rope Switch [redacted] $232.00 and $3300 worth of labor! When I inquired about the high labor cost they explained it was a multi-day job (8 + hours) which would require 2 technicians. They also explained that without the new parts the elevator was in a dangerous state. Trusting them, I signed the contract and this time they required I pay in advance. They came while I was at work and finished in 2 hours! They did not provide a receipt, a release form detailing the parts they installed or the time there were there or an acceptance form for us to sign - which is standard. I am upset at the minimal amount of time that the job took versus the contract I signed and paid for in advance. I called to complain and they pointed out that I signed a "lump sum" contract- shame on me.Days later the elevator stopped working again. They sent a tech and he explained that the "power supply" was blown. The contract came in the amount of $1587. (this included a power supply battery for $300) This time I decided to get a second opinion and when this other company was at our house they fixed the power supply by tightening a screw connecting a wire to the "blown" power supply! He noticed that the parts that Elevator Service Co claims they installed were only adjusted (which was indicated by a huge tag that Elevator Service Co themselves put on the valve in question). I paid for labor and parts I didn't receive...Desired Settlement: I would like to pay only for the parts and labor I actually received... although I may have foolishly signed a "lump sum contract", it was predicated on my being told parts were needed and the work was extensive.
