Eli The Handyman Reviews (6)

Hello,First of all, even though there was no concrete proof that we had caused the stove top to be broken, we took responsibility for it. This customer had had another crew/repair person working on the same spot, earlier. The handyman that was working on the ceiling drywall used
a ladder to climb up and work on the ceiling and never stepped on the stove. Our customer called us a few days after the repair and mentioned that the stove top was broken. We asked if there was a possibility that the other person (a plumber) had stepped on it to what he responded that they didn’t and by default it was just us. We agreed on having the payment (a check) cancelled and “call it even,” last year around the end of October, beginning of November Last month, this customer called us and demanded that we replace his stove because it is not working. We went through our General Liability Insurance company and they denied his claim on the grounds that there is no concrete evidence that we cause the broken stove top and also that it has been too long (five months) to go through with the claim. I believe that my employee did not step on his stove and broke its top. We believe that the claim that this customer is making has no grounds and that too much time has passed to get this issue resolved. Sincerely, *** ** ***Eli The Handyman, LLC

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  First of all, my stove is working perfectly fine. Its cracked on the bottom right hand corner. The only evidence that I have is the pictures that I provided. If I could have installed cameras around the stovetop the evidence would prove the workers damaged  the stovetop. The only evidence I have is that Eli the Handyman was here on October 27,2014 and worked over the stovetop. The stovetop was in perfect condition prior to them coming into my home. I noticed the damaged stovetop and notified the company. Before I could talk to the owner of the company I put a stop payment on the check for $262.00 because I felt it was the justified thing to do after they had damaged the stovetop. I was not sure if they would reimburse me for the stovetop or not so thats the reason I cancelled the check.
I called him a few weeks ago to notify him that I would be paying almost $1200 not including install to replace this [redacted]. Eli never disagreed nor mentioned the cancelled check he notified me that he would oblige and notify his insurance. I felt this was not my fault and why should I be paying my out of my own pocket for something this company had broken.
After dealing with his insurance company they mentioned could not present enough concrete evidence. I had some workers here a few months before Eli the handyman came to my home. They did not damage anything. I inspected the area where the plumbers performed the work and everything was in working condition. If the plumbers would have damaged my stovetop I would not be filing a complaint against Eli the Handyman at all.
On the phone I spoke to Eli and assumed he was going to submit the claim as he said he was going to do. Never did he mention they were going to say they were not at fault. Low and behold they denied the claim because of the lack of evidence. However excuses "I believe my employee didn't do it" was the last thing I expected. They don't have any concrete evidence either. Do they have any "concrete evidence" of the employee on the ladder not damaging the stovetop while performing the work patching the drywall? Maybe he lost his footing and stepped on the granite and stovetop? Or something was dropped on the stovetop? Bottom line its cracked and they were responsible.
I just want this issue resolved ethically and morally with no excuses. Have this company do the right thing and replace this appliance out of their own pocket. I believe Eli should take responsibility and take care of this. It is a lot money for me to have to replace this stovetop when neither the plumbers or I had anything to do to damage the appliance. I will not claim this on my insurance because it is not my fault.

Yesterday, the 23rd of June I had the pleasure of have [redacted] from Eli, the Handyman do a couple of projects at my home. I was very happy with the results. A new ballast was installed in the laundry room and a door wasn't closing and locking. Both of these troublesome things were repaired at a VERY Reasonable cost to me. I WILL have this company back as more projects/repair are needed. [redacted]
