All I would like to know is how can someone be signed up or charged for something without a signature? That is so wrong, especially when it happens to the elderly But when talking to Eligo, they claim it would be discrimination if they don't call upon the elderly Phone solicitation should be against the law or penalized when one is signed up on the "do not call" list

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/02/24) */
The customer enrolled online with Eligo Energy in June for a month introductory product at the rate of cent per kWh, then to be followed by a month to month variable rateEligo Energy sent her the terms and conditions of the
agreement, via regular USPS mail shortly after her authorization was obtainedThe customer's service began with the fixed rate of cents per kilowatt hour on 7/23/and continued for one month until 8/21/After this point, she began receiving the Eligo variable rateVariable rate customers are under no obligation to remain with Eligo Energy and can cancel at any timeIn addition, Ms*** had the option of locking in another fixed rate that was being offered
Unlike a fixed rate, a variable rate reflects market and weather conditions and varies month-to-monthDue to the nature of Ms***'s contract and because Eligo Energy has already supplied the electricity and Ms*** already used it, Eligo Energy will not refund the customer for any electricity consumed during her service periods
An Eligo Energy Customer Service Manager reached out to Ms*** on 02/24/with the intent of explaining this to her but was unable to reach her and left a voicemail message
At this time, the customer has not requested to cancel her service with Eligo Energy

I am rejecting this response because:While I am satisfied with the end result of canceling the switch account I don't like many of the implications in this response or that it the first response wasn't even about my caseWhen I first got an email from the company that a switch was happening on August 31st when my wife and I were supposedly signed up for Eligo Energy We were together in DC for a conference working together all day (there was no way a Maryland IP address would have been anyone in my family), I called Eligo and explained my complaint about the sign up and I was told a manager would call me backProceeding the conference I didn't get any calls back from Eligo management and since they had my parent's mailing address on the order I thought it was a weird mistake Then I received the *** switch order a month later and I called to figure out what was going on, twice I called I was told I was speaking to management which in this complaint said I never talked to anyone While I understand my personal information was entered into the system, it should not be that hard to believe it was not me I was spoken to rudely and told on multiple occasions from *** and Eligo that the switch would happen. I do in fact work for a competitor (*** Energy) and get free energy every month for the past years for my efforts, which is why I was so upset I was signed up fraudulently I am happy with my current supplier and never would have switched my account I appreciate the suggestion to see if *** can lock my account and certainly would like to make sure Eligo never enrolls my account again with their servicesThe complaint was filed the day after we talked because of how rudely I was spoken to by you customer service and how much little information they could provide me about how my account information was received and verified A simple call to the new customer or return call from my initial complaint would have never needed a complaint to the Revdex.com I was tried horribly by your staff and when I requested a manager they never called and was not transferred like I was told I would be.Again I hope you take better care of your actual customers and use better customer verification processWhile you claim no foul, my wife and I never made the switch to Eligo and certainly never will
Sincerely,
*** ***

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/02/04) */
Mr*** switched to Eligo Energy in October At this time, Mr*** authorized his enrollment via a third party recording, which stated that he would receive a fixed price of cents per kilowatt hour for a period of months
followed by a month-to-month Eligo variable rateHe also received this information again via regular mail shortly after his authorization was obtainedThe customer's service began with the fixed rate of cents per kilowatt hour on 11/28/and continued until the month period expired on 2/28/
At this time, he began receiving the Eligo variable rate as was agreed upon during Mr***'s enrollmentVariable rate customers are under no obligation to remain with Eligo Energy and can cancel at any timeIn addition, Mr*** had the option of locking in another fixed rate that was being offered and not take on the risk of variable and less predictable pricing
When Mr*** called to cancel service in December 2014, he had already began his current service period and was being charged the Eligo variable rate just as he had been since March after the fixed rate term expiredNo additional fees or surcharges were added to his rate due to his cancellationUnlike a fixed rate, a variable rate reflects market and weather conditions and varies month-to-monthDue to the nature of Mr***'s contract and because the Eligo Energy has already supplied the electricity and Mr*** already used it, Eligo Energy will not refund the customer for any electricity consumed during his service periods
Additionally, Mr***'s assumptions about the NYSEG rate are incorrectNYSEG's effective rate should include additional fees not charged by suppliers such as Eligo, including, for example, bill issuance charge and merchant function chargeThese charges are added on top of NYSEG's supply rate

Mr*** wants to cancel Eligo Energy service He claims he had initial difficulty reaching an Eligo Energy customer service representative.Upon receipt of this complaint, Eligo Energy reviewed its records and was able to find a record of Mr*** calling on 06/09/ An
Eligo agent called him back on 06/14/and on 06/20/2016, but was unable to reach him both times.A utility drop notification from *** was received on 06/21/and immediately processed by Eligo The cancellation confirmation number for the customer's reference is: *** *** provided a service end date of 07/07/ The customer's account is already in a dropped / rescinded status with Eligo Energy and never went into effect. The customer was also mailed a postcard from Eligo Energy, to serve as written confirmation of the drop.Thank you for contacting Eligo Energy

I am truley disgusted in the way this company speaks and treats their customers in which they are over charging for supplying electric toI was switched with out my knowledge, contacted this company multiple times regarding payments and to speak with a manager and I have still not recieved a call back The employee that I did speak with Miguel * Was very ignorant to me on the phone, continously calling me a liar I explained serveral times to him that I did not recieve any letters that said anytjing about switching my energy over My bill was 116$ higher then it would have been with *** supplying the electric (which is what I gave permission for.) I want it known I never gave this company any of my imformation, any signatures and agianst my wishes they switched my energy company I am still wainting to speak with whomever regarding extra fees that I am paying I was told by *** in the past their customers went to collections with this company They are charging with out my permission a rate of per kwt when *** only charges This js a no brainer, these people walk door to door to soliciting their business Say no, stick with *** 165.00$ for kwt in a 386sq ftApt is ridiculous, that is the rate for a 1100sq ftHomeTruely disgusted with this company Bad news!!

Linda *** believes that she has been overcharged by Eligo Energy and is looking for an expedited credit to be posted to her account.Eligo Energy has checked its records and found that the customer has not been overcharged by Eligo Energy and is not owed a credit Instead, what the
customer experienced was delayed billing Delayed billing is when a customer’s supply charges do not appear on one or more bills for one or more billing cycles, then the delayed billing cycle charges appear on a subsequent bill, all at once. For the billing cycle of 12/01/to 01/04/2017, the customer's supply charges from Eligo Energy were $ These charges were delayed, did not appear on the customer's January bill, and were not paid at that time The charges did appear on the next bill, along with the current charges for the current billing cycle As a result, the customer's February bill had current charges of $for the billing cycle of 01/04/2017to 02/03/AND delayed charges of $for the billing cycle of 12/01/to 01/04/ These are legitimate charges that need to be paid.Eligo Energy apologizes for the delayed billing issue, which was caused by a conversion to a new billing system Please let us know if there are any additional questions or concerns.Thank you for contacting Eligo Energy

Eligo Energy has relentlessly called my mother, *** ***, to change her energy with themI am her daughter, Mary ***, and I have power of attorneyHer phone number is unlisted and I have requested times that they put her on a DO NOT CALL listShe is 91, she has severe dementia, she has a caregiver and she lives in a retirement communityShe has answered the phone and they will not let her hang up - we have been there on several occasions and requested them to stop callingAt some point, they signed her up for Eligo Enerwould be the equivalent of a child agreeing to their companyI have called Eligo several times; twice getting a nice person to answer but more often than not, I have been on the phone with irate, belligerent, offensive individuals who have told me: "don't let your mother answer the phone, " "too bad- she has to pay the early cancellation free," "she agreed to pay for this, we don't have your POA, too bad." I have been hung up on several times, have requested a call back from a supervisor, which has never happenedMy mother was so distressed about a letter from a debt collector: Charles G*** Jr, who has equally rude scores of people to answer his numberThis is elder fraudIt is targeting the elderly who cannot make decisions, even though she has told them that she cannot make decisions for her buildingThis needs to stopThe last person I spoke to at Eligo (today 8/23) told me that she answers calls all day from people who say that they were just signed up; that they never agreed to it! Someone needs to be aware of this and stop this!

Ms*** wanted to cancel Eligo Energy supply service due to receiving a higher electric billShe claims she experienced a delay in having her cancellation processed and is looking for a refund. The customer authorized the switch of her electric supply service on 05/29/via third
party authorization (***)*** is an automated recording that reviews the service plan, terms, and conditions the customer is being offered, step by stepThe *** repeats Eligo Energy multiple times, asking the Customer to "please say yes to confirm" for enrollmentWe do not believe the call is misleading, misrepresents our identity, or misrepresents the fact that the customer is enrolling into the service plan.Upon receipt of this complaint, Eligo Energy reviewed its records and found that Ms*** contacted Eligo Energy but did not explicitly request to cancel her account until 11/19/when she spoke to one of the Commercial Customer Service managersHer cancellation was processed immediately by Eligo Energy. It normally takes one to two billing cycles for a utility company to process Eligo Energy off of a customer's account and that time frame is under the control of the utility company, not Eligo EnergyIn those situations, the customer will continued to be billed by Eligo Energy, through their utility company, until the Service End Date provided by the utilityIn this customer's case, the service end date provide by her utility company was 02/23/2016.In the nine months that the customer received service from Eligo Energy, her Eligo Energy charges never exceeded $Thus, we are not sure what the customer is referring to when mentioning a $billEligo Energy does not issues refunds for electricity that has already been used. This account is currently in dropped/cancelled status with Eligo Energy and is no longer being billed by Eligo EnergyTypically, an early termination fee would be assessed against the account, but, as a customer service gesture, Eligo Energy waived it in this caseThe account is currently in good standing as no further charges or fees are due.Thank you for contacting Eligo Energy
