This letter is in reply to a complaint placed thru your organization by Ms***Ms*** was seen in our office on 4/20/for an exam, patient was complaining of pain in tooth #Patient was ad\llsed that she had a deep filling and this tooth needed root canal therapy followed by permanent
restoration, le post & core, crownWe did advise the patient at the appointment that most likely her insurance, Dentaquest (Fidells) would not cover the Root Canal, Post & Core, and Crown on this tooth because it is a molar and her type of insurance does not cover major work on molars over the age of 21. On 4/25/we received a denial from the patients insurance and the patient was advised that her choice was either pay out of pocket for the services or have the tooth extractedPatient advised us that she had Care Credit for financing the work and wanted to proceed with the Root Canal.The patient then returned on 4/28/and proceeded with the Root Canal, as was noted ln her office note she was advised of her option of extraction or proceed as a self pay patient for the work needed on the toothThe cost for this procedure was $750.00. As is customary a root canal Is completed in one appointment then the patient is Instructed to come back in appx week to finish with the permanent restoration of a post & core and crownThe patient then came back on 5/19/for the permanent restorationThe cost for these procedures were $for the post & core and $for the crown. I am not sure If the confusion was that our office staff did not explain the separate procedures to the patient at the time she scheduled the appointments or If they did not explain that there was more than one step to permanent restoration of the toothWe do not "up charge" ervices or leave out Information in hopes of getting more money from our patientsWe try and be very upfront with everyone but unfortunately something was not correctly or clearly explained to Ms*** in a manner that was clearly understood. As a solution for Ms***'s bad experience Dr* *** *** and I would be willing to lower the patient's office fees for the work she had done to the fees that Fldelis would have paid us, if they had covered these servicesThe fees are: $ RCT #3$ P/C #3$ CROWN #3$ TOTAL-$ PAYMENT MADE THRU CARE CREDIT$ REMAINING BALANCEThe patient can make monthly payments to our office on the remaining balance. At this time we will not refund any monies paid to us, the patient has not complained about the quality of the dental work she received and is no longer In pain with tooth #3. If patient Is agreeable to this she should notify me personally as she Is scheduled with our office on 6/9/for the permanent crown to be insertedThank you
