Re: reply to enclosed letter
Gentlemen :
One's ethnic group has no part in one being honest nor whether one chooses to miss use funds that have been trusted with them.. That is the entire reason for my complaint to Revdex.com. Miss use of funds I gave to Mr. [redacted], monies intended for work that was discussed and agreed on but never completed.
There is no doubt that on my initial introduction to Mr. [redacted] his name and apperance are apparently Mexican. It did not matter then nor does it matter now what his nationally is. I did not hire him on his nationally, but on his word to me, his contract, the price he quoted me and his word he would have the job done in a week or less.
Mr. [redacted] showed up at our house only once just before Christmas16 December 2013 to sign a contract and write him a check for $1595.00 Once
again he insured us his company would be finished within one weeks time. Again that was December 2013 and I never saw Mr. [redacted] face to face again until the last week of January 2014. Up to January 2014 Mr [redacted] would make us a promise to be at our house and finish the job. It would be, I will be there Monday morning and he would never show. He would tell me over the phone he would be there Thursday and never show. He would tell me again over the phone he would be at our house Friday and never show, and the same story for Saturday. Once during that period he sent over two young men who did some tile work. They did not do very much work either time and the last time they left, one of them told me Mr. [redacted] was a {Coyote} and they were not coming back. They explained to me that was a word meaning Mexicans would be hired by their own people and then when it came time for them to be paid, the boss would threaten to turn them in if they didn't accept the pay the boss offered
instead of the pay he had prom issed them at the start The only other person he sent out in that time after these two young men was a man with a business card that said Double A Paintings call [redacted] or [redacted] was a nice man, but very obvious not a tile man. He used all the tile we had purchased breaking more tile than he was able to use. He then requested more tile to be bought so we bought 5 more boxes for him of which he went through rapidly. He still hadn't finished the tile job. This was the last week of January and Mr. [redacted] and his wife finally came to our house. Mr. [redacted] was cussing
mad and agreed with me that it was a very unprofessional job. Tile sticking up higher than others, the space between the rows of tile different thickness and cuts made incorrectly and using the grout to fill those wide spaces. Mr. [redacted] told me he would have [redacted] come back out and do some corrections once again stating it was a sloppy job. That was only the second time Mr. [redacted] and I had actually come face to face. His anger at the work and his word that [redacted] would be back out to fix things right made me feel good.
The day came for [redacted] to come back and he didn't show at 8 that morning as was agreed. He was not there by noon, so I called Mr. [redacted] to inform him [redacted] was a no show. Again Mr. [redacted] was cussing mad and told me he would call [redacted] and get him out by one. Three came around and still no show of [redacted]. I called Mr. [redacted] to let him know and this time Mr. [redacted] told me he had had it with this job and was {Pulling Out}.
My fears quickly came to surface and I knew I was in a no win situation. Mr. [redacted] had not finished any part of the job I hired him for, the tilework ,no mirror, no sink, no cabinets, no electricity or faucet, plus he had $1595.00 plus $460.00 extra he had required of me for some plumbing and I had paid for all the tile that was destroyed by a person trying to learn the tile profession.
This was definitely no time for me to be a fool and pull the race card. I don't care now nor did I then who his parents were. I was and am only interested in getting back some of the money I paid Mr. [redacted] for a
job not done. He was mad on the phone and I tryed to reason with him. I told him I knew he was working in Midland and I'm sure very busy. I said coming to Odessa for this one job can be a problem. I said' don't you think you owe me some of the money back so I can try and find someone to finish the work. To this he chuckled and said, hell no, I've already spent too much time and money over there, I'm {pulling out}. With that Mr. [redacted] hung the phone up on me. Neither one of us discussing each othere heritage. I don't know where the race card comes into this. I do understand where a mans word, his contract and the handling of another mans money are a part of this.
Respectfully,
[redacted]
