Elite Eye Care Reviews (%countItem)

I was refracted incorrectly for glasses at Elite Eye Care. They refused to refund me for the glasses ordered and offered to refract my eyes again but again the correction was not done properly nor were the two-three sets of lenses ground properly. Again, no refund was offered for the large expenses incurred. I ultimately went to a different eye care professional and was properly refracted. The new frames from Elite Eye Care could not be used by the new business so I was forced to yet again buy new glasses for a great deal of money. I subsequently contacted Elite Eye Care by mail with a letter explaining the professional opinion of the new doctor and sent the incorrect glasses back to Elite by mail as well. Near Thanksgiving 2017 I was contacted by phone by Elite Eye Care and told my case would be reviewed by the owner after the holiday break. I did not hear anything back from the owner so in January of 2018 I sent a second letter asking for resolution and have not heard back yet again. I have copies of the letters and receipts as necessary as well as the opinion of the second doctor.

Elite Eye Care Response • Feb 13, 2018

This patient was first seen a year ago on Feb 2nd of 2017 for a comprehensive eye exam at which time we prescribed prism in her glasses. She purchased two pairs of glasses from us and returned couple of times in February and March complaining of mild eye strain so we redid her glasses and tried to make it comfortable again and she left and we did not hear from her for four months using the glasses. Again in July, she contacted the staff complaining so we had another doctor see her and address her issue and had staff restyled her into a different frame and redid her lenses again for the fourth time. We worked with her and gave her many free doctor visits and free lens redos. All of the lens redos are extra cost that we never charged patient for and incurred the cost for her benefit trying to make her happy. Then again four months later, she contacted us requesting a refund since she went somewhere else purchased two pairs of glasses. My staff had communicated with her that we can not give refund and we have done everything we can and we can not refund her back but she wanted the staff have owners still consider it and she decided to mail her frames to our office requesting full refund. In summary, She is requesting refund for products and services that were already provided. She could have easily had their new lenses from the new doc placed on the frames purchased from us. We can not refund something that has become a negative net benefit and products that has been used by patient for months, and services that were provided by our doctors trying to address her issues. Looking at the prescriptions that were done for her, they all are very similar and prism amount was changed several times for her to see if her strain will be eliminated and they all are within tolerant range and very close to what she got at the different doctor office! We are sending back her frames via certified mail! We are sorry this unfortunate situation has happened but we hope she can see from our perspective that we have done all we can and gone out of our way to help her.

Customer Response • Feb 14, 2018

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: though the helpful/most courteous staff and on-site doctors at Elite Eye Care did remake the lenses in an attempt to correct the troublesome refraction/lens grinding the remade glasses were still unusable. The reason I sought a second opinion is EXACTLY due to the owner of Elite Eye Care being repeatedly unresponsive and unwilling to make full refund for improper work. I made every attempt to use the glasses purchased through Elite Eye Care and followed their recommended procedure for making the situation right. Still the outcome was not acceptable. The reason I needed to purchase a set of new frames from the second opinion clinic is because the frames purchase at Elite could NOT be used without paying an even higher price. I was forced to start all over again for the economics of the situation. It would have cost MORE to use the first frames from Elite than it was to start from scratch. If I could have used the original Elite frames I would have. This was not the case. It is my opinion that the owner of Elite Eye care, Dr. *** (also the owner of *** in Portland) needs to make this unsuccessful situation right by authorizing a full refund. After seeking the second opinion is is clear to me the team of doctor's at Elite, though striving to do their best, are NOT well trained in the prescription of prisms. Though Dr. S states in her response via the Revdex.com the prescriptions are similar she is incorrect. It has taken the second opinion doctor a great deal of effort to secure the correct prism for my case. He not only measured the general prism the Elite doctor's did but measured for other aspects of prism adjustment that the Elite team did not. His equipment and method for prism work are far more sophisticated and advanced than the routine services offered by the Elite team. The Elite team also does not use advanced measuring equipment when fitting their clients for frames/lenses. No true measurements are taken. The staff uses their own eyesight to locate pupils and lens distance. The second opinion doctor and his associates use actual measurement devices/equipment when calculating lens position which is CRUCIAL when a patient is using prisms. I have been wearing prisms in my glass for over 20 years and my visit to Elite was the first in all those years where the prism was (1) not properly addressed and (2) not properly placed in the finished lens. I am seeking a full refund for my time, energy and expenses. If Dr. S thinks her business lost money she is not alone. I lost double the money that should have been invested in attaining a proper set of glasses. I will continue to pursue this matter until a full refund is secured.

Sincerely
