Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below The technician never indicated we had an unsafe condition - only that a/c units should never have a roof on an enclosureHe fails to mention that most of the walls surrounding the unit are lattice He also said the unit was un-repairable & we needed to purchase a new one & place it on our patio This unit has operated safely in it's current location for over years & is doing so now The other company that ultimately repaired our unit, did confirm that the a/c unit would run more efficiently without the roof We are not disputing the placement of our a/c unit, what we are disputing is that it needed to be replaced instead of repaired We had the fuse replaced & now are obtaining quotes to have it relocated so it operates more efficiently Regards, [redacted] ***

On 6/30/Elite HVAC received a request from this customer to service & diagnose her air conditioning unit at her rental propertyHer complaint was the upstairs was not cooling correctly on her rental homeWe explained our operational procedure with rental propertiesWe charge $for the
service call and diagnosisIf the customer approves the repairs we waive the $and just charge the estimate for the repairsWe also explain to our customers the average repair on air conditioners is between $200-We offer a minute notice when we are on our way and we call the owner of the property from the rental home to discuss the diagnosisThe explain the owner must be available for these calls to discuss the repairsIf not we will proceed with the repairs as long as they fall within the limits previously discussed, $200-If they exceed these limits, we will not proceed and the $will be charged to the owner's credit card we are given to keep on file*** agreed to these terms, that is why she gave us her credit cardIf the owner does not agree to these terms, they would not give us the credit cardShe called us, we would have not way to get the credit card unless she gave it to us ahead of the service callWe have used this method on rentals with great success for all parties for the last seven yearsMore than half of our rental owners cannot be reached at the time of serviceThis is why we have operational procedures for rentalsAll of our property owners and managers love this arrangement.I tried to contact *** on my way to the house, no answer, left voicemailBoth myself and her tenant tried to call her from the home at the time of the service callThe repair fell within the limits of the repair price, so we repaired the air conditionerThe problem was an extremely dirty filter and a blown start/run capacitorDirty filters and blown capacitors are extremely common in rentals because renters do not clean the filters on a regular basis and the air conditioners begin to overampVery common. She finally called me after I had left the houseTold her what we had done and I thought that was itShe contacted a few days later and wanted her money back because she did not authorize repairsMy office manager offered to return to the house, remove our parts and refund her money and just charge her the $This was not acceptable eitherWhat else can we doIt appears she just want her air conditioner repaired for freeOur prices are more than fair, $to repair an air conditioner in the middle of summer with same day service is more than fair

Most of what this customer says is true. Except they left out the good part, such as: this air conditioner is completely installed outside of installation guidelines. There multiple possible code violations that have created an unsafe operating environment. Namely, this unit is installed in an...

enclosed area with a roof with inadequate clearance, next to a pool heater which puts off excessive heat next to the air conditioner and inadequate clearance to all this equipment. We cannot repair a unit in an unsafe working situation. The reason the fuse was blown was due to this situation. We could always get a manufacturers rep out or the city building inspector to verify the poor installation. The point is, we have a unit installed incorrectly in an unsafe situation. We cannot repair a unit in this situation. This was thoroughly explained to our customer at the time of the service call by our technician.  Fixing this unit was propagating a possible dangerous situation. This air conditioner should be relocated or replaced in the correct location of the home.

We have spoke to Mr [redacted] about the inspection. This is not a physical issue about the installation, but a paperwork issue with the city. The city never received the paperwork from the third party verifier. This has been corrected with the verifier & sent to the city.

We were called out to repair water leaking from the the furnace during the air conditioning cycle. We repaired the problem for which we were called. This repair actually has nothing to do the with the actual air conditioner, but with the drain coming from the furnace, this is more of a plumbing...

repair than air conditioning. This is a very common repair when high humidity occurs, such as this summer. We never touched her air conditioner, never adjusted anything on the air conditioner, never actually touched the furnace, evap coil or the air conditioner. We repaired her drain, this has nothing to do with the air conditioner. She was told at the time of drain repair, her air conditioner was getting old and not in the best of condition and should probably be replaced now or in the near future. Her response to our technician was she had not intention of upgrading or improving her situation.  We never touched, adjusted or repaired her heating and cooling equipment. Ms. [redacted] contacted us during the hottest week in the summer where our resources were stretched to the max dealing with homeowners that had no cooling at all and many medical emergencies. Our field technicians were working 16 hours a day and Ms [redacted] contacted our office to complain about her $800 electric bill, and wanted us to do something about it. I personally informed Ms [redacted] her euipment was never touched  and the work performed was plumbing in nature. I did tell her we would try and stop by when we had a chance and take a look at her equipment when we were in her neighborhood, her available times and ours did not coincide, we could not make our first appointment, we tried to schedule another, however, our time slot in the morning on Friday did not work with her schedule,  she said  she would not be home until after 1 on Friday, the Friday before Labor Day weekend. I told her we would try, could not promise. We called at 1 PM sharp, no answer, we moved on. So here we are, Ms [redacted] will not go out of her way to work with our schedule, she has informed us she is not willing to spend anymore money to improve her heating and cooling system and does not want to pay for our time at her home. I am not really sure what we can do to help her with her issues.

The technician never indicated we had an unsafe condition - only that a/c units should never have a roof on an enclosure. He fails to mention that most of the walls surrounding the unit are lattice.  He also said the unit was un-repairable & we needed to purchase a new one & place it on our patio.  This unit has operated safely in it's current location for over 10 years & is doing so now.  The other company that ultimately repaired our unit, did confirm that the a/c unit would run more efficiently without the roof.  We are not disputing the placement of our a/c unit, what we are disputing is that it needed to be replaced instead of repaired.  We had the fuse replaced & now are obtaining quotes to have it relocated so it operates more efficiently.

Review: Gordon, Elite HVAC, presented and we agreed to a contract on AC unit, Furnace, Filter, Humidifier and 5 year worry free total care maintenance. After installing, no one had come to do any maintenance over two years after installing. The first technician just came to do the inspection on March 29, 2014. No any maintenance was done. Per technician (or salesman), named [redacted], the maintenance schedule was already expired and in fact, it was supposed to be done yearly. Then he said the maintenance was only for two years and I need to purchase for additional 10 year maintenance/service. This is not what in the contract. In addition, we mentioned that the humidifier was leaking due to the lack of maintenance. The ceiling was stained. We have never received the call back from the first technician, [redacted]. Then we tried to call Gordon directly. He then sent the second technician to come to look on April 12, 2014. Technician was trying to convince us that there is nothing wrong but agreed that maintenance would need to be done yearly and looked at. Gordon and the technician also told us that they would replace the 16x25 grill/register. Then again they never contacted us back regarding the issue and the concern. When we kept trying to call multiple times, the operator rudely said the computer was not working and would call back shortly. They always said they would call back when I contacted them. But still no any phone calls have been received so far.Desired Settlement: refund the maintenance that has never been done and that was supposed to be for 5 years per contract. Repair the ceiling stain. Reinstall the air intake register.

All of our utility rebate customers receive extended Total Care Maintenance with their installations. This customer has had a total of 5 visits by our service staff since the installation was completed 2 1/2 years ago. On each visit the high efficiency air filtration media has been inspected as well as all other maintenance items. These customers were told the air filtration media might last several years & did may not need to be changed on every visit. Run time and dirt would determine replacement. They do have a 5 year maintenance and we have & will continue to service the equipment for the duration.

Review: Seller gave proposal #[redacted] for new HVAC system and quoted a rebate of $1,200. I paid in full for the system 11/26/13 and have proof of payment. [redacted] gave me a rebate of $850 8/7/14. I have been calling Elite for months about the balance of the rebate, and they do not return phone calls or do anything to give me the full rebate. Two weeks ago I advised them I would be contacting you if I didn't hear from them, and I have still not had any response.Desired Settlement: I would like for them to pay me the difference of the rebate they promised and the rebate I received, which amounts to $350. Thank you very much.

Elite HVAC Installed an [redacted] High Efficiency heating & cooling system for [redacted] in 2013. We listed all the available rebates on our proposal for [redacted]. The largest rebate was a southern California [redacted] quality Installation rebate. The other rebate available was the tax credit. [redacted] was informed we guarantee the [redacted] rebate. In other words we guarantee our installation will pass the [redacted] Quality Installation Verification process. This is the only rebate we can control considering this rebate is quality based. The other rebates are out of our hands. The particular rebate in question is the Tax Credit available on all high efficiency heating & cooling equipment. [redacted] had informed me she would take the credit on her new windows she was installing. I left the total rebates on the proposal because they were still available to her if she decided to use them. [redacted] received her [redacted] rebates as I had promised. The rest of the rebates were up to her. We did not represent those rebates, simply let her know they were there. We had to do all the paperwork for the [redacted] rebates, all other rebates are up to the homeowner. Elite cannot guarantee rebates we do not control. Southern California [redacted] is one of the few rebates available to homeowners the contractor can control from start to finish. Unfortunately, tax Credits, city, county & state rebates are out of the control of the contractor.Thank you

Review: Gordon presented and we agreed to a contract on a 16 seer HVAC unit with a 5 year warranty. He then installed a 14 seer without our knowledge. After a lengthy dispute process he did refund us the difference in cost, however he is now refusing to provide the maintenance. In addition to the maintenance we have a 10 yr parts warranty that I have to assume he will also refuse to honor.Desired Settlement: service to be rendered as agreed by licensed employee of Elite other than Gordon

Response:

I have been in touch with Elite. They agreed to and have completed the service of our unit. Additionally they have assured me we will not have any further problems with completion of our contract service agreement. I would like to close this complaint.

My husband and myself hired Elite HVAC from orange Ca..

We never thought it would be so difficult installing a air conditioning unit, not only that but the employee were rude they would set up a time for them to come to our home for problems we were having and not show up they did this a handful of times they had no consideration, to them it didnt matter that we were here all day waiting for them there was no cancelation calls from them. We are very unsatisfied with this company, this is how we were treated as a customer.

Review: I called this business bescause my home a/c was blowing warm air on 7-22-2014 & ([redacted]-Business Owner) came out. He said the problem was low freon and he replaced the freon in 2 units for $711.00 (which later estimates from other companies were lower- $350- $500). I paid in full & in good faith. On 9-25-2014 a different tech (Koi) came out for the exact same problem & said my units were leaking and the freon was low again. They could be replaced for about $10,000-$12,000. There was not a test to even see if a leak was there on 7-22-2014 nor was one conducted on 9-25-2014. I feel this should have been done at the least initally and I should have been advised on what options were available verses paying $711.00 and 2 months and 3 days later I have the same problem. I am out of my money and I still have no working a/c. I do not feel this is a good way to conduct business or offer service.Desired Settlement: I would like partial or full refund because the problem has not been repaired and I paid for a service that I did not receive. I still have no working a/c. At the least I should have had a test performed on the equipment and I should have been given the option to make an informed decision. This was not a proper way to conduct business.
