Initial Business Response /* (1000, 9, 2016/04/19) */
April 18,
Attention: *** *** / Market Place Councillor Case # *** *** ***
I will keep this as brief as possibleYes, indeed there are two sides to every story
We were first hired by *** *** on November 17,
(Invoice ***)We moved a piano for her from *** to *** *** *** *** *** No issues
Issues with regards to Load & Offload
*** then contacted me December 18, enquiring if I could move her household to Edmonton, she mentioned that they were very short of money & how could I help them by keeping their cost downAfter discussion I explained that the biggest cost was from transportation & the labor to load & offload*** said that they had friends that could help to load & offloadI agreed that if she had a minimum of four men to help with the loading & offloading that would be fair***, also forgot, to inform me that there were two different homes to pick up the household goods from (I did not change any additional charges for the
second pick up as a result of *** forgetting to inform me)The day of loading we were late due to, the cold temperature, it just took longer to get the trucks startedThe crew still arrived at 9:amI was about to call ***, coincidently, when she called meEvidently, all her help had left except for her husband I had sent two men to do the load, anticipating the additional help to loadIt took hours instead of the two hours I had allowed for, in total $787.50, an actual extra amount of $Upon arrival in Edmonton at the new location, there was some help, but not the amount, I had been led to believe that would be thereI told *** that this is not what we had agreed upon, & I insisted that I would be charging an additional hour for the load & offload in the sum of $At that time she agreed and gave my driver the cash, which was noted & signed on her booking slip / Invoice ***
Damages
When I first spoke to *** when she was booking the job she told me that she had overstuffed furnitureDuring the offload my driver and helper were informed that it had to go down into the basementMy driver stated to the husband that it would be very tight going down the basement stairs & could be a potential problemThe husband agreed to take it down despite the warning. As they were manipulating the piece of furniture in the stair well they hit and broke the small light fixture, the husband told my driver not to worry about itThe residence was still under construction
I believe that we were more than generous in the extra charge of $especially when I could have charge her an additional $1,400.00!
As far as the damages, everything that goes into our truck is paddedWhen the piano came into the house the customers instructed where they wanted it placedUpon removal of the pads they would have seen the damages, As for the other damages, we are not responsible for damages , as stated in the Payment Terms & Conditions, for any compressed wood, particle board or Ikea type furniture, &, if additional help is used, supplied by the customer
There is no justifiable compensation
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 11, 2016/04/29) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The emails that were exchanged with Elite clearly indicate there were two residencesEmails dated December 16, and 27th all discuss there being two locations
As already stated, Elite was late on the moving day, therefore all our help was unable to stay the entire timeThere still was helpJust as Elite says that being late was an unforeseeable situation, so was our help not being able to stay due to the latenessFurther to this, as also already indicated, the amount of smoke breaks taken were detrimental to the loading process, leaving help standing waiting around rather than moving items
The house we moved into was NOT under construction, it is years oldTherefore, there is no excuse for the broken light fixture
Pictures were provided of ALL the damaged goods on January 6, to Elite MovingSufficient padding was NOT used, this was commented on by the individuals who were helping us moveThe pictures clearly illustrate the damage to our belongingsOnce again, out of pieces of furniture were damagedThe driver of the truck did look at the damages and commented that they would be able to send in someone to fix themAll damages were shown to the driver immediately
Never was there a discussion about being "short of money"When we originally spoke to Elite we asked if there was a possibility of being on a back haul, as we had already priced out multiple moving companies and doing it ourselvesWe would have had no problem doing it ourselvesNever were we told we would be sharing the day with someone else
This is indicative of the entire experience with Elite movingThe stories have changed and the facts have been misrepresentedThe facts stand for themselvesWe AGAIN request proper compensation for the damages and extra costs that were incurred as as result of Elite

RE: Revdex.com Case # [redacted]: [redacted]
Invoice #[redacted]
In response to the customer complaint from [redacted] in regards to her residential relocation on April 29, 2015 &...

May 1, 2015.
I take complaints very seriously and unfortunately run into one or two per year due to the volume of work performed here In Grande Prairie, AB. With customers that you Just cannot satisfy no matter what you do for them.
I was Initially contacted by [redacted]. He explained to me that he had been working in the moving industry as a swamper so was familiar with the process and would have everything packed and ready to be loaded on April 29, 2015. He requested that if we could leave his household goods on the truck, I agreed and told him that there was a $100.00 overnight charge, but, I would only charge them for one night. We agreed on a time to load of approximately 1:30 pm. [redacted] also stated that he would be helping with the load & offload which I agreed to
due to him having experience In the industry. I also told him that he was not allowed in the truck due to not being covered by [redacted], [redacted] agreed.
On April 29, 2015, [redacted] called me telling me that we were late. I apologised stating that I had misfiled his slip, that it was my fault, and that I would get a crew over within the hour. I sent two men at a cost of $175.00 per hour. Upon arrival my manager entered the duplex and [redacted] was leaning on the counter. My manager asked [redacted] to show him around the duplex to let him know what was going as per Elite's protocol. [redacted] just stood there leaning on the counter and told Kirk, "Everything goes". [redacted] tried to explain why she needed to do a walk through, but she just ignored him. If an had stayed, he could have done the walk through with Kirk as he had agreed to assist with the load, [redacted] disappeared in his truck & did not return, There was unboxed "stuff" all over the floors & they certainly were not ready for us to start loading. This was at 2:30pm. I had gone with the crew to apologise for being late, so when I walked into the duplex I saw the disorganization of this Job & the home was unkempt, Kirk Informed me that [redacted] had left & I should try & get extra help as there was more than what I had

Initially been told and we only had two men on the job which would take much longer than anticipated. [redacted] was not around to agree to this decision. We needed to get the job done in a timely manner, I, therefore, made the decision to take two more employees to assist with the load. The two added employees were fresh therefore the Job got done faster than if the two men had completed the Job on their own.
On May the first we were 1 hour late, Due to the first job taking extra time. I did phone to let the customer know the situation,
I went over to see how the crew were doing a couple of hours later; the crew were just closing the doors when I arrived,
I had also prepared an Invoice in detail showing that I had put through a preauthorization on the credit card in the amount of $800.00, I had previously spoken to [redacted] wanting to know what method of payment he would be using for the balance of the payment he said cash.
I told him it would be the minimum payment of three hours including travel time which came to $585.00 ($195.00 per hour X three # of persons), I did NOT charge the $100.00 per night as previously agreed upon for holding his goods in the truck for two nights.
Upon arrival at the residence they were moving Into (which was right across the road) [redacted] came up to my vehicle to pay me the cash owing and then started to be accusatory & verbally abusive
Calling me a Fg ct, My manager then arrived on sight and heard these customers
verbally abusing me and yelling at me and he told the wife to shut her mouth, and, the husband to quit talking to me in that manner, His wife by this time came to my vehicle and continued to yell at me stating that I owed them $500,00 for being late and charging them travel time, I tried to explain that the travel time to her and that the travel time starts from the time the crew leaves the shop until their return (1/2 hour there & 1/2 hour back) [redacted] said it only took 5 minutes! At the time of booking I had explained this to [redacted] as I always do when booking
a LOCAL relocation. I gave [redacted] the receipt & went through it with him again explaining the travel time, [redacted] did help a little with the offload placing a few boxes in the garage

I stayed until [redacted] my manager, was leaving with my truck and then I left. Upon returning to my office my secretary informed me that [redacted] had already gone onto the site here in Grande Prairie called "What Grinds My Gears" When I went onto the site & saw what garbage was on their including the defamatory stuff that [redacted] had written in abundance, I decided not to waste my time with this type of customer who is only trying to reduce me to their level and find an excuse to get money back from my company for work that we had been contracted by them to do, I have copies of the defamatory abuse that [redacted] wrote on line if I require evidence for legal action,
I am not prepared to waste any more time with this customer or to refund them the $500.00 that they stated I owed them.
In fact Elite Moving INC, could take them to court for going onto a PUBLIC FORUM ([redacted]) for slander & verbal abuse and indict them. I, of course, realize this would be futile.
I have no further comment to make,
