EliteBuild, Inc. Reviews (2)

We contracted with Elite Build to complete a renovation and new addition construction that was professionally architected and engineered. This was a custom project expanding the original home of 3300 square feet to 4500 square feet. The building process began in April 2015 and the agreement was terminated in September 2015 because of two fundamental issues:

1. Unacceptable customer service
2. Substandard workmanship

On multiple occasions, Elite Build demonstrated unacceptable customer service and inappropriate and unprofessional behavior was the norm:
• Owner and Foreman (also a business partner of the owner) called me a "[redacted]".
• Foreman was often irate and in one meeting he slammed his fist on a notebook
causing it to explode.
• Foreman suggested I should seek psychiatric counsel.
• Foreman threatened to follow me off the job site and beat me up.
• Foreman engaged in a verbal altercation with our next-door neighbor.
• Foreman damaged the neighbor's property in a demonstration of his displeasure.
• Did not follow change order process as a means to track and invoice standard
building process.
• Refused to entertain requests for paid adjustments to the plan from the
customer on multiple occasions. However, the builder and foreman made
unsolicited and unapproved adjustments to the design (see below).
• Multiple verbal and written requests were made of the owner of Elite Build to
intervene and address the unacceptable behavior. However, the behavior
continued uncorrected and the owner never acknowledged that the actions of
the foreman were unprofessional or unacceptable.

In summary, even though we were the customers, their words and actions revealed that they were unable to build the product that we desired and had contracted them to deliver.

Additionally, they demonstrated an unwillingness and/or inability to deliver upon the designated, architected product with professional, high-quality workmanship:
• The foreman made changes to the plan without requesting approval or following
the change order process.
o Garage grade was 12" lower than plan. This caused the steps from the
nearby stoop to impede the cars backing out of the garage necessitating
another undesirable adjustment to the design.
o Brick coins were added to the corners of the front elevation, not according
to the plan.
• Ceiling joists were not installed properly, necessitating remediation prior to
proper installation of drywall.
• Low-voltage wires were non-functional and there were severed wires that went
nowhere.
• Door and window elevation on the side of the garage are not to plan.
• Window was off center of roof peak and not done according to the plan.
• Support pillars in crawl were not reviewed by the builder or repaired per the
inspection report.
• LVLs were cut without securing an engineering approval or letter.
• A LVL was required but not installed over the four-bay window in the game room.
• House electrical panel was improperly sized to accommodate the circuit load
(47 circuits were wired, but a 42-circuit box was installed).
• House electrical power feed was improperly sized to accommodate the
electrical service for this size home. 400A is recommended and 200A was
installed.
• Windows on front elevation were not done according to the plan.

Due to the repeated egregious behavior, disregard for acceptable customer service, and unsatisfactory workmanship, we requested that the job site be closed and the contract terminated. Our expectation for this custom contract work was that we would receive a superior outcome and an enjoyable experience. We received neither from this firm.
