The customer's dog actually broke out of her kennel and then climbed our eight foot enclosure fenceWe immediately followed her when we saw she was out and many times was close enough to catch her but she ran away every timeWe contacted the customer immediately and continued to follow the dog for hoursOnce the owners came out to help get her, we told her where she was and she continued to run from them and their family members and friendsShe certainly wasn't coming to us after we found that outWe did not charge the customers for boarding for their dogs for the entire stay which would have been $150-$depending upon check out timeI understand they're upset, as am I and all the staffWe take collars off while the dogs are in the kennel enclosure so their collars and tags don't get caught on something and they choke or hang themselvesWe have continued to look for her as she tracked her way back to the kennel overnightSince she won't approach us we left our personal back yard gate open with some food and water, hoping we could contain her that way but have had no successI haven't contacted the owner again since I have spoken to the people who have been coming to the property every day since last weekThey are no longer coming out to look for her since this last weekendIt breaks my heart too as this has not happened but for one other time, over years agoWe are in this business because of our love of animals, not for the money because honestly there's not a huge profit margin as it isI will continue to look for her but since she is so skiddish, the only thing I will be able to do, most likely, is contact the owner if I see her againIt is truly heartbreaking for everyone and I feel terrible that it happened but since she won't let anyone close enough to catch her the only thing I know to do is try to lure her with food and waterIf she had been chipped, which she is not, if someone does find her they could get the owners information from that

The customer's dog actually broke out of her kennel and then climbed our eight foot enclosure fence. We immediately followed her when we saw she was out and many times was close enough to catch her but she ran away every time. We contacted the customer immediately and continued to follow the dog for...

10 hours. Once the owners came out to help get her, we told her where she was and she continued to run from them and their family members and friends. She certainly wasn't coming to us after we found that out. We did not charge the customers for boarding for their 2 dogs for the entire stay which would have been $150-$200 depending upon check out time. I understand they're upset, as am I and all the staff. We take collars off while the dogs are in the kennel enclosure so their collars and tags don't get caught on something and they choke or hang themselves. We have continued to look for her as she tracked her way back to the kennel overnight. Since she won't approach us we left our personal back yard gate open with some food and water, hoping we could contain her that way but have had no success. I haven't contacted the owner again since I have spoken to the 3 people who have been coming to the property every day since last week. They are no longer coming out to look for her since this last weekend. It breaks my heart too as this has not happened but for one other time, over 10 years ago. We are in this business because of our love of animals, not for the money because honestly there's not a huge profit margin as it is. I will continue to look for her but since she is so skiddish, the only thing I will be able to do, most likely, is contact the owner if I see her again. It is truly heartbreaking for everyone and I feel terrible that it happened but since she won't let anyone close enough to catch her the only thing I know to do is try to lure her with food and water. If she had been chipped, which she is not, if someone does find her they could get the owners information from that.
