I had called up the office and asked them about in-network service and insurance acceptance and was informed in the affirmative.
Later on after the procedure, carried out in March 2018, I learnt that they accept the insurance but are not in-network providers resulting in they billing me $150 for the services rendered.
I had written to them to resolve this on April 4, 2018 but did not receive any reply.
They again sent me a statement dated 5/22/18 for the same amount.
I responded to them with this request of the desired outcome that I have mentioned below.

Unfortunately you are not reading your EOB (Explanation of Benefits). We called you on 4/9/18, 5 days after receiving your correspondence, to explain your insurance to you and our call was not returned. Therefore, we will quote what your insurance stated, "This service is not included in the group contract. Refer to the benefits, exclusions and /or limitations or orthodontic rider section of YOUR benefit booklet." Also, for the sake of clarification, we are IN NETWORK with your insurance company; you took the time to research it yourself, and we stated we were in network when your first made a appointment with us.. If you read the EOB, you would see it does NOT state that I am out of network. You should at least reach out to your insurance company and be a little more involved in understanding what is a covered benefit.

I am rejecting this response because:

The procedure he is talking about was not even done.

He just checked my teeth and gave me antibiotics for infection and I was supposed to go to him for the procedure which was not carried out.

So, what is he talking about "in-network". They accept the insurance but they are not "in-network". I spoke to the insurance company and they clearly state that he is NOT in network.

It is not about the measly $150 that he is charging but about honesty, integrity and fairness in dealing with patients.

I can send him the money in a heartbeat but would like to make sure that misinformation is not disseminated by his office staff.

Unfortunately you still have not called your insurance. The only procedure performed was a limited oral evaluation and what the EOB breakdown indicates. If you look under the patient responsibility it states you are responsible for $230.00. I can no longer help you, so please call your insurance company. They will be more than happy to explain your coverage. Be well...

Since it was only an oral examination, the doctors office WAS NOT TRUTHFUL.

We called the insurance company and THEY TOLD US YOU ARE NOT IN NETWOTK.

See attached document.

Since you believe in duping your patients we do not want to deal with you.

We will send you the measley amount of $150 that you are demanding but please don't scam patients like this.
