Elizabeth Joy Photography Reviews (7)

The business owner acts as if I had not legitimate reason to cancel her services You can not run a business, especially a photography business and not be able to return phone calls or emails On a couple different occasions it took her over a week to respond, I contacted her on the 19th of April and finally reached her by phone ( we called her, she did not call us) That is days (during wedding season, as he put it) The biggest reason I canceled is because I feared that if I had to get in touch with her on our wedding day for any reason, I would not be able to She also posted on her business Facebook page that she would no longer be accepting clients this year due to her daughters conditions Considering she has been very vocal about her daughter having epilepsy (a condition that comes on suddenly), I worried that it was possible that her daughter would have a seizure on the day of, or close to the day of our wedding and she would not be able to photograph the wedding I think I have been very patient with waiting for the depositSaying that you will do it when you are financially able, screams I am not real business owner She did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for meShe did not take, process, edit any photosShe did not spend any of her time doing anything for me, therefore how could she even feel that keeping that $would be okay, like she earned it? It is not just about the money, it is about the principalI want future customers to be aware of her inability to contact them and her lack of knowledge when it comes to owning/running a business To say that you are "shocked" that I have turned to the Revdex.com, is humorous Why would any true business owner be shocked if they made an agreement to send a deposit back to a customer, then months later the business owner has still not returned the deposit?

As I stated, I will return the deposit even though I am not obligated to do so under the contractIt is written that in the event of a cancellation, and where the photographer is not able to re-book the date, the deposit is kept as liquidating damages for lost wages, meetings, emails, calls, and other administrative tasksThis is standard for most wedding professionalsWhen I am able to do so without creating a hardship, I will return the deposit

I recognize that I indeed had a contract with the complainantsI also affirm that my daughter developed severe epilepsy in December After I explained my position in December, we did not speak until April when they decided to rescind the contractIn the signed contract, it states that should the clients decide to release the contract, I would send a full deposit only if I am able to re-book the dateThis is to cover damages from appointments, and holding a date that will no longer yield the expected incomeBecause of my issues with my daughter I understood their concern, and actually offered to send the deposit backNo timeline was given, because I honestly didn't know when I'd have an the $when I was budgeting with the income from the wedding for medical expenses for my daughterEven now, I simply don't have the extra funds to send the depositI was very clear that as soon as it was possible, the money would be sent backThe complainants began harassing me by constantly calling and texting my phone at unreasonable hoursOn the day they had contracted with me, I actually volunteered as a photographer for a fundraiser benefiting the local women's shelterI was obviously able to photograph on that date, and saw no reason for the cancellation.Honestly, my photography label was created as a service to couples and families who would not otherwise be able to afford professional photography (hence the tag for the studio: Because everyone deserves beautiful photography)I'm astounded that I'd be reported to the Revdex.com at all, and shocked that it would be without even taking a single photo for the coupleI'm within the bounds of the contract we signed, and showed understanding by offering to go above the line to send the deposit backI'm not obligated to do soI can assure everyone that as soon as the funds are available, the deposit will indeed be returnedFirst, though, I have to dig myself out of the financial hole that was caused when they cancelled the contract

This was a business transactionWhy would she think she could keep my deposit when she was not doing what any business professional would do, return customers phone calls and emailsI do not take an item back to a store that I am unsatisfied with and ask for a refund and the store tell me, they will send me the refund when they are financially ready toI do not care if you are a huge retailer or a privately owned business, a refund should not come months later, and when the business owner is ready to do soClearly she needs to take some business classes before opening her own businessTo me, it is no longer just about the $250, it's a matter of principleI plan to make sure that every future customer knows about her "business tactics" and I will make it my mission to make sure she doesn't swindle any future brides out of their moneyMy deposit is well overdue, and for her to say that she will send it when she is ready, will not fly with meI want this complaint made public so anyone who may choose to use her services in the future can be aware of her horrible business acumen

I recognize that I indeed had a contract with the complainants. I also affirm that my daughter developed severe epilepsy in December 2014. Saying that you will do it when you are financially able, screams I am not real business owner.  She did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for me. She did not take, process, edit any photos.
