All the workers are fantasticWe broke down outside of Steamboat Springs and they came to help us right awayOnly to find out that their rig couldn't handle our motor homeThe driver, Chris got on the phone and called until he found a rig that could handle usThe problem with that was they did not receive any payment from usThey did not complain and continued to be very pleasantOur motor home was towed to their shop that nightThey worked on it the next morning and we were able to pick it up that afternoon! GREAT PEOPLE AND GREAT SERVICE!

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:Nothing is in dispute up to and the date of the pickup of the unit What is in dispute is the following:Any refund for the DOT inspection does not negate the fact that the unit would still fail a DOT Inspection EMD pencil whipped the inspection of this unit.Additionally, given that the coolant was never checked at EMD, there is no way to verify that the unit had coolant during the initial repaurs, EMD techs also revved the engine during the pressure washing of the motor, which could have been a contributory factor in the failure of the head The truck did not start showing signs of gasket failure until after the engine was pressure washed and the tech was revving the engine. Finally, while the folks at EMD did bypass the heater core, there is still the issue of $to replace a hose This is exorbitant at best and robbery at worst according to their work order, one hose took hour to diagnose and hours to replace Diagnosis was stated above that the hood was opened and the broken hose was obvious And raised particular hose is easily accessible and removable Had I known it would have been $to replace, I could have gone to an auto parts store and hade one ,adequate in less time and for less money Regards, [redacted]

E.M.D is not responsible for pretrip inspections of units if the driver would have checked coolant before the unit left our location we could have addressed this complaintAs for the DOT inspection the tire was missed that is why we at refunding the DOT inspectionAs for the time and cost of the hose the hose had to removed and built and put back on the unit

HORRIBLE SERVICE !!! First, they charge whatever they want on oil change ( since when PM service with synthetic oil cost nearly $??), next, they take INSANE time to replace broken oil line ( close to hours ), then they charge an arm and the leg for repairs with saying " these are our prices " and you are basically stuck there waiting and on the mercy of the bill, they know they got you by the b....sAfter this, I will call Freightliner corporate office in Portland, OR and submit the complaint there, I hope this shop looses the license of operating under Freightliner name !! Disgusted with this "so called " business!

This customer did come in to our shop repairs were approved and completedAfter repairs were done the truck had other issues that the customer were informed of prior to initial repair that would need to be looked into after the repairs were made as the truck was in a non running stateHe was aware
of this prior to the original estimate was approved

In response to Mr. [redacted] his 96 Peterbilt was towed in to Elk Mountain Diesel on 5-17-16 with a transmission complaint. We were given permission by [redacted] who was the owner of the truck at that time to diagnose the complaint. It was found that the back half of the transmission had got hot and...

cracked the housing. It was determined that the cause for this was lack of lube as the transmission was very low on oil. Elk Mountain Diesel was informed that the transmission had just been replaced with a rebuilt transmission purchased earlier in 2016 from [redacted]. out of [redacted]. We contact them for warranty on the transmission and they determined the failure was due to lack of lube and there was no warranty. After the Mr. [redacted] was notified of this decision E.M.D did not receive any more contact from him. We placed the unit into secured storage and storage began being charged at $100.00 a day. On 7-28-16 E.M.D received a fax from [redacted] to ship the transmission to their facility as Mr. [redacted] had worked out an arrangement to have it rebuilt and then sent back to us for installation. Also please note that we never allow customer supplied parts but had allowed the transmission to be sent.   On 08-1-16 Mr., [redacted] signed and returned a work order request for E.M.D to perform said work.  This is 3 months after the truck was left at our facility. In an effort to assist Mr. [redacted] storage was stopped at this time as He also request for E.M.D to perform a DOT inspection of the unit after repairs were complete on 10-31-16.   E.M.D. completed all work requested by Mr. [redacted] which also included an A/C Compressor. On the approx. 11-1-16. A request for payment was sent to Mr. [redacted] at this time and no response was received for approx.  Two months. The unit was placed in to secure storage in November of 2016 and was not removed until 3-17-17 after the final payment for the work was done. The unit did have to have the batteries charged in order to be started for the unit to be removed from storage on said date as it had sat for over 4 months without being started  we did not charge Mr. [redacted] for this service.  Also E.M.D did not charge storage for the time the truck sat in storage after the repairs were completed. On 3-21-17 a driver for Mr. [redacted] arrived at E.M.D’s location to pick up the unit. He was observed preforming his pre-trip inspection.  He left with the truck and returned to E.M.D’s location at approx. 1230hrs with a complaint that the truck was leaking coolant. In order to help our customer we took a look at the unit with no charge to him and we found that the passenger floor board was covered in coolant. The unit has a bad heater core this information was given to Mr. [redacted] and just wanted the heater core bypassed. We did as requested we also topped off the coolant once again at no charge to Mr. [redacted]. Once this was done the truck was washed off and check for leaks no leaks were found and the truck was backed out. When the driver was escorted to his truck there was a noticeable leak coming from the right side of the engine the unit was shut down and the hood was lifted and it was found that the rubber coolant line from the air compressor to engine block had broken. Mr. [redacted] was contacted and advised that this repair would have to have a new Work Order opened and he approved this and to have the hose replaced.  Once the line was replaced a coolant pressure test was preformed and it was the test was not in spec and the unit should go to a CAT dealer for further diagnostic and repairs. Mr. [redacted] was advised that the unit should not be run as it could cause more damage. On 3/22/16 Mr. [redacted]’s driver drove the unit off of E.M.D’s lot. E.M.D is willing to and will refund the D.O.T inspection cost as the right inside forward drive tire does not pass D.O.T. However E.M.D is not responsible for any damage to the engine or head.

The truck was pre-tripped prior to leaving your location, driver specifically asked EMD for oil and coolant, at which time he was told you don't sell it by the gallon.  Go to the truck stop.  My mistake for not having the driver ask where the water hose was.  It still does not negate the fact that the truck did not show signs of head damage until it was back in EMD's shop after EMD's tech was revving the engine for 20 minutes.  Truck was running good, not hot, etc. and was fine until AFTER the hose was replaced and AFTER the pressure washing of the engine.  It was IN EMD's POSSESSION WHEN THE HEAD GAVE WAY.  Was the coolant checked in the unit at any point during the time the truck was running for 2 hours back in October that you have video of?  Was it ever checked prior to starting and moving it around? With regards to the DOT Inspection, admitting your tech missed the tire is admitting he did not do his job and perform a throrough inspection per FMCSA Regulations.  Thank you for that admission.  With regards to the hose, I understand a hose had to be removed and another one built and installed.  I am not questioning that, I understand hoses break, however 3 hours of charges and $800.00 for ONE HOSE is exorbitant.  My question is does it take 1 hour to visually inspect a truck when the hose bursts in front of you (what I was charged for) and another 2 hours to remove, make, and install a hose?
Regards,
[redacted]
