Ellie Mae, Inc. Reviews (1)

On July 27th, [redacted] brought his car in with a complaint of running rough and the check engine light ( ses ) was on. [redacted] also stated to me his friend told him all it needed was a tune-up for the (SES) light. This car had 279.424 miles on it and was given to him from a friend that had it...

sitting in his yard for a very long time. We informed Mr. [redacted] that the car was in really bad condition and it was probably not worth fixing because the cost could run up way higher than the car was worth. Mr. [redacted] insisted we diagnose his problem because in the end, he wanted to get it inspected. After diagnosis, we found it had two cylinders miss firing, power steering pump leaking, and belts that were about to come apart. For the state inspection to pass power steering pump can not leak and belt must be in good working order. We advised [redacted] the car had very high mileage and this is all we could tell about the car with how bad it was running. The replacement of parts and labor were $2822.99. [redacted] approved the repair.Work was performed and the car needed to have drive cycles completed because of a dead battery. Mr. [redacted] came to pick up the car 2 weeks later. We told him we could perform the needed drive cycles for $57.50 or he could come pick it up and drive it around himself. He chose to pick it up and do the drive cycles himself. On August 25th, [redacted] returned for his state inspection and it was discovered the parking brakes did not work, wiper blades need to be replaced, and 1 of two radiator caps needed replacement and horns did not work. Mr. [redacted] approved the repair and the drive cycle need to pass stated inspection on this visit $803.53. We agreed to do the State inspection at a later date when the monitors for the emissions completed. Mr. [redacted] picked up the car. On September 5th Mr. [redacted] later had it towed back to the shop (which the shop covered)  and said it overheated. After further diagnosis, we found the water pump and the radiator leaking.  Mr. [redacted] approved the replacement of the water pump and radiator and was given a discounted price for the work in the amount of $469.72. Regular price would have been around $950.On September 22nd Mr. [redacted] returned with the (SES) light was on. A computer scan was performed and a transmission code was found. The car was in need of internal transmission work if it could be fixed, otherwise, he would need a new transmission. Mr. [redacted] declined the repair. Mr. [redacted] brought us this car that was wrecked, neglected, and in very bad disrepair. We tried to do small items to try to save him money but to make it road worthy it needs a lot of work. Mr. [redacted] claims to be disabled but from looking at him and talking to him it is not evident to us and it wouldn't have made any difference. We have the same price list for everybody. We feel that our work was done correctly and fairly given the almost impossible situation Mr. [redacted] put us in. We advised him not to fix this car in the beginning so as we went alone we tried to help him out as much as possible.Best Regards,[redacted]Manchaca Service Center
