*** ** *** *** *** - Mediation Coordinator. In response to Mr ***.Yes, the car had a problem with the transmission. One that we were not aware of. Even if Mr *** had taken a test drive in the winter it was a problem that would not have appeared in our
typical test drives. It was an intermittent problem that even after we agreed to fix the transmission the first time still would not have appeared until the car was driven more miles. We replaced the transmission a second time and the car ran and drove well. t-birds have a history of shifter difficulties and we actual found one in a salvage yard, no easy thing, and replaced it.We also had the starter rebuilt as it again after more miles created a problem. We had it rebuilt at no charge and replaced. We also addressed Mr***'s concern about the rear springs and installed a new set of helper springs at no charge. We have done everything in our ability on the car. We did not sell Mr*** a totally restored car but a very good car for the money. I witnessed Mr*** on several occasions driving the car and feel we have done more than most places would with an warranty. Sincerely,*** Ellingson

Received return call from [redacted] Ellingson at Ellingson Classic Cars, providing dealer's response.
Mr Ellingson says that Mr [redacted] purchased his vehicle "as is," and signed off on forms indicating such.
He says the dealership has a "no...

returns" policy on such "as is" sales -- would not normally allow return or refund money under these circumstances.
Mr Ellingson says he allowed Mr [redacted] to return the vehicle, and that Mr [redacted] suggested the $500 figure. He says he agreed to this "against (his) better judgement," and can offer no further refund at this time.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 17, 2015/11/19) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I did not offer $500.oo he did. His dealership never said they had a no return policy and never should have sold a car that was unsafe to drive.
