Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 7, 2014/06/02) */ We were hired to perform the radon mitigation based on information provided over the telephone by the ClientWhen asked how tall the crawl space was, he informed us that it was 3' to 4' tallThe original proposal was dated September 18, We were scheduled to install the radon system on October 8, When our technicians arrived, they discovered that the crawl space was really 16" tall and had many obstructionsA new price was provided to the Client over the phone, but the Client decided to cancelWe provided a revised written proposal on October 9, that took into account the shallow crawl space and the obstructions The homeowner decided not to go forward with the new contractWe refunded the deposit less the $cancellation fee and the $credit card convenience fee, per our contract Initial Consumer Rebuttal / [redacted] (3000, 9, 2014/06/04) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Most of what is stated in the response is correctHowever, we stick by the fact that we did not cancelWe would have moved forward that day with the contract as priced initiallyThe company stated that they could not honor the price of the original contractIt was they who canceled the contract and issued a new proposalOnly when we learned the price would increase by over $2,did we state we could not afford the new estimate We gave the information on sizing as best as possible in the original estimateAs the company stated, a portion of the crawl space was shorter (which we were unaware of) but the other 50% of the crawlspace was accurately describe as the depth we had statedA large problem we have is the new estimate they wrote does NOT even reflect the depth of the crawlspaceWe feel that if the depth of the crawlspace was the reason for keeping the money, it would have been listed on the new estimateIt is not We did not cancel the contractThe Radon Company should have confirmed their proposal before finalizingOther Radon companies came out and inspected the space before providing an estimateWe had no issue that they could not perform the duty for that priceOur issue is that they kept money we do not feel they were entitled to Also, they stated to us via phone that they would return our fundsWe had to call and ask for the status of the refundThey said it was "in the mail"Only after we received it did we find out we were shortedThey did not tell us they were reducing the refund amount (Emails attached) I have enclosed: Contract Invoice Contract Emails for Refund
