Elvies Boutique & Travel Reviews (7)

Review: On the date mentioned, I went into a travel agency, Elvie's Travel/Boutique store, and purchased 2 tickets in the amount of $2,992 cash for my parents to depart from the Philippines to LAX on July 24, 2013. The reservation was made but not booked. Since then several days have past, and confirmation of booked reservation has not been received, according to Philippine Airlines customer service representative. There is only a reservation but nothing confirming flight has been paid for. I have repeatedly tried to contact the agent in question by phone, email, and have driven to the place of business to confront, but was unsuccessful. Since this incident I have inquired about the business from a neighboring store, and found that they too have had other customers come and complain about the agency with their reservations not having been paid for or ticket(s) received. I went to the National City, CA City Hall and learned that other complaints have been made against the business in question. I also learned that the business has not renewed its license.Desired Settlement: To pay me and everyone else back that he took money from. I would like further investigation on the business practices of this business and his license revoked.

Review: hello, this complain is regarding elvies travel agency in national city. I think my sister and I are victims of scam since we paid our airline ticket on wednesday, but no ticket was issued. we used to buy ticket from the agent everytime we go to the philippines. so on monday july 18, not knowing that the agency is doing scam, I contacted the agency over the phone to purchase two tickets. we trusted the agent so on wednesday [redacted] (owner) said he can pickup the check (payment for the ticket), and arrived at around 7pm, promised he will deliver the ticket the following day. instead of delivering on thursday evening, my sister received a txt msg saying that [redacted] is at the airport going to the philippines for emergency reason, and will return in a week. I called him, and spoke to him, he told me that it is already boarding time, he will return on august 2 and will take care of the matter. this morning I saw in the news ([redacted] news), that the agency was raid by the national city police for travel scam. any help is highly appreciated.Desired Settlement: a full refund amount is acceptable, so I wont seek for any further legal action.

Review: I purchased a plane ticket for me and my son through the owner, [redacted], on March 12, 2014. It was with Asiana Airlines for December 2014. He gave me a copy of my itinerary without the ticket number. I asked about it but he said that he will give it to me as soon as he gets the e-ticket copy. It sounded strange to me but since a co-worker of mine gets his ticket from him all the time (for more than a decade now), I trusted him. I paid him with a check for a total of $2,440.00.

About a month after, he still has not given me my e-ticket. I kept calling him but he never returned my calls. I went to his office several times but it was always closed. Since my co-worker knew where he lived, we went to their house in National City but he was not home either. I called Asiana Airlines directly to confirm if I have a ticket. They told me that there is no reservation and no ticket for me and my son. I gave them the reference number and according to the agent, she sees it as a cancelled reservation. I was really scared and thought that I was fooled big time. Asiana told me to call GTT Travel because that is the travel agency that made the reservation for me before it got cancelled. So I called GTT and they told me the same thing. No ticket was issued for the reservation so they cancelled it.

I called Nestor several times again and he finally called me back. I told him the situation and he came to see me a few days after and said that my reservation is confirmed. He gave me another itinerary which was different from the one he initially booked for me. He gave me all kinds of excuses. And still, there was no ticket number. I demanded that from him repeatedly but he kept delaying to talk to me. He said the ticket has been released to GTT and it will take some time to get it into Asiana's system. He gave me the ticket number a few days after. So I called Asiana back to confirm. They finally told me that a ticket was issued and I was all set for the trip.

Last Saturday, June 7, 2014, I called the travel agency here in San Diego who arranges the free shuttle service through Asiana Airlines for passengers who live in San Diego to get to LAX. They needed our ticket numbers in order to process the reservation. The print out that Nestor gave me only had my ticket number. Partly my fault for overlooking that my son did not have a ticket number. I called Nestor but he was not answering me again. So I called Asiana to get the information from them and they told me that my ticket was VOIDED. I was so mad to hear this for the second time around.

I spoke to Nestor today and told him that since I don't have tickets, I want my money back NOW. He kept saying that I do have a ticket and he will personally deliver them to me today but he never showed up. I called him back a few minutes ago but he kept dismissing me on the phone and sounded very rude to me. I told him that if he does not return my money, I will call the police.Desired Settlement: I want the refund as soon as possible please so I can get my plane tickets somewhere else. This trip is very important to me to see my family during the holiday season. I badly need help. Please and thank you.

Review: On 4/5/2014 I purchased 2 tickets in the amount of $1900 round trip to the Philippines on 10/1/14-11/4/2014 (Philippine Airlines) from Elvie's Travel (via Ernesto who is the owner). A copy of the receipt was given to me as well as the itinerary.

On 5/2014 I called Philippine Airlines to confirm my booking however they stated that my reservation was cancelled-due to failure of payment. I then called Elvie's Travel and spoke with [redacted] who said that he "was looking for a promotion-a cheaper price for airfare." However, to my understanding my reservation was already booked because I paid the $1900. [redacted] reassured me that a flight would be booked. Since then I called him to remind him to book a flight (about 3 times) but haven't received confirmation.

I looked up the agency online today and found negative reviews regarding non booked flights. I have been trying to reach him via phone and at the business but he is not returning any of my calls.Desired Settlement: I do not trust [redacted] and am seeking a refund in the amount of $1900 cash.

Review: Went to Elvie's Boutique and Travel to have my passport renewed and the owner [redacted] agreed to help expedite the process. I paid the fees for renewal and the owner has not delivered my new passport. It's been 5 months since this transaction and I cannot get a hold of Mr. [redacted] and now his business is no longer open.I have emailed the Philippine Consulate concerning this matter and hopefully they will be able to help me in regards to this matter.Desired Settlement: Would like for the owner [redacted] to either refund my $120 in fees I paid for my renewal or for him to had over my new passport.

Review: I am an 89 year old Filipino/American who wishes to visit the place of my birth, the Philippines. On the July 1, 2013, I went to a travel agency, Elvie's Travel/Boutique store, and purchased 1 ticket in the amount of $1,195 cash for my trip departing LAX on January 22, 2014, to the Philippines, and returning on February 20, 2014.

The reservation was made but not booked. I have been told many times during the almost 2 months that my ticket will be presented. The travel agent, Mr. [redacted] tells me that he is shopping for a promotion price so that he can guarantee my price of $1,195, or else the price may go even higher.

Since July 1, 2013, Mr. [redacted] has told me to come to his office for my ticket. I showed up and he wasn't at the office, the most recent time was yesterday, August 20, 2013 - I showed up at 2:00 pm in the afternoon and waited for him 2 hours and he never came to my appointment.

Today, I was there again and he has told me with my grandson as my witness that he will return at 1:00 pm either with the ticket or a cash refund. Regardless of the outcome at 1:00 pm, I am filing this complaint over service and unfulfilled promises that Mr. [redacted] has made to an 89 year old man over the past 2 months.

I contacted Philippine Airlines customer service representative and the reservation number ([redacted]) that Mr. [redacted] provided is no longer active and has actually been cancelled. The customer representative did tell me that there is another reservation ([redacted]), however, it hasn't been booked/purchased yet by Mr. [redacted]'s travel agency. This active reservation will expire and be cancelled on August 23, 2013 at 0943.

I have called and made several attempts at contacting Mr. [redacted], however, he is not available. I did find him at his office this morning, however, he did not give me a ticket, nor my money, and only told me to return at 1:00 pm today.

I am greatly discouraged that this person is taking advantage of the elderly, fellow Fillipinos - I am greatly disappointed and sincerely hope that he will honor his agreement and provide me with a ticket to the Philippines or a full cash refund.Desired Settlement: To pay me and everyone else back that he took money from. I would like further investigation on the business practices of this business and his license revoked.

Response:

Dear Sir/Ma'am,

I want to provide you with an update. On Wednesday afternoon, August 21, 2013, Mr. [redacted] did provide me with a round trip ticket to the Philippines on the requested dates. He confirmed by calling PAL, using speaker phone I was able to confirm the flight was ticketed/purchased.

My only pending transaction with Mr. [redacted], is that he agreed to transport me to and from San Diego and Los Angeles.

I am thankful that I did not loose out on my money, however, this ordeal over the course of 2 months is inappropriate for a travel agency.

I would like to keep my complaint on file to serve as a warning, regardless of my receipt of my ticket.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Regards,

Review: We bought a 4pax roundtrip ticket to the Phils. 6 months before our scheduled flight(bought in September 2012, scheduled flight March 21, 2013 and return in April 7, 2013). Since it was an early purchased, we requested a seat(closed to the exit door or front row) and seat together arrangement because we are travelling with my 2 kids and my husband (71yrs old). He confirmed our booking on the spot, gave us a copy and confirmed sitting arrangement will be made.On March 21, upon check-in at the airport, our SAN-LAX flight were seated all the way to the back. While waiting for our flight I've noticed that our boarding pass for LAX-INCHEON are seated scattered, I talked to the check in counter if they can fixed, but they said that I need to talked to [redacted] Airline representative in LA which I did but according to them, I purchased my ticket late so there is no available 4 seats together. So we ended up sitting me and my 5 yr old together and 10 rows away my husband and my 11yrs old daughter together. It was very inconvenient, but we have no choice. On April 7, departing [redacted]. After queing in a long line, when reaching the check-in counter, we were told that we are not book, we are not in the system. After searching they found out that our booking is on the 8th not 7. I insist that we have the booking, the record locator I gave is not exist, they tried to call my travel agent but no answer. We don't have the choice, so we left the aiport with our tones of luggages and my poor kids waiting so hot.We left and find a hotel to stay since we came from the province of Cagayan Valley. After check-in at the hotel, I found out again that I was not flying together with my family, I was on a different flights. I called [redacted] Air but it was a machine promt, so I ended up going to the airport to fix my flight. So I ended up paying extra $382 to fly with them. It was very very inconvenient our seating arrangement were scattered but that's fine as long as we are together on the plane.Desired Settlement: I need a refund of all the expenses I made on that day and work I lost.Additional charged KE - $382; Food - $76.50(2 meals for 4 of us); Hotel - $71.50; 1day lost at work - $163.44; Taxi - $17.50 = total $710.94. I have all my receipts with me except taxi/fare.
