Mr*** has agreed to replace the screen door in his first response. Is this based on our removing the boat from the Marina and paying to have it transported to his new facility? That would be ridiculous, the transportation costs outweigh the cost of a new screen door. Typically when a repair is not done properly the customer is not charged for the rework involved to correct the problem. We feel that the services we paid for were the finding and repairing of agreed to items and transporting the boat from the water to a facility where all found and agreed to items would be repaired or replaced then the boat returned to the water. If we had transported the boat ourselves, we feel that we would be responsible to transport the boat again, but since transportation was to be after the repairs were made, we feel that the boat was transported in an untimely manner. The boat was put into the water too soon. The boat had too many incomplete repairs to have been sent to sea. I am sure that some of the extra hours that Mr*** does not feel compensated for are included in the adding of the hot water heater and then having to remove and replace it with one that provided hot water (manufactured defective), having to drain the water out of the boat after it was allowed to sit out in the rain opened and the sleeping quarters became flooded thus the boat required bilging out and the lower section dried out with fans and heaters. The required rewiring of the generator and inverter when they failed to operate after the boat was in the water. The replacing of the bilge pump switch which was broken off while replacing the hot water heater. The deck being painted three times because each batch of decking material that was used had been received "bad" from the manufacturer and had bubbled while drying. We would like to have our screen door that Mr*** has already agreed is owed to us and the two sets of keys that Mr*** has for our boat as soon as possible. Mr*** will need to provide us with the address of his new facility as he stated he has moved and we want to pick these things up right away. We will seek legal consultation regarding the incomplete repairs if that becomes necessary. Thank you for your time and assistance. *** * *** ***

We have done all that can be done to remedy the complaintWe did not build the boat nor did we sell the boat to the Harrill'sThere are simply too many repairs that are needed that are well beyond our controlWe have put in well over hours of labor to this project in an effort to satisfy the customer all without compensationThere is simply nothing else that can be done without the cooperation of the complainantThank you

Mr***,
I apologize for the lateness of this response as we are moving our business location and it has been hectic to say the leastIn response to the *** complaint:
I would first like to state that the ***'s are wonderful peopleThey were very helpful and
trusting in our ability to complete the requested workIt was not timely but some of this was not of our doing
They purchased a boat that was in a slip at Lake Oroville MarinaThis boat had a variety of issues that came with it, none of which the ***'s nor myself were aware of and we had nothing to do with the sale or purchase
The ***'s came to us in Sept with a request to pull the boat , inspect it for mechanical issues and estimate the coat for repairs and some modifications to the waste water system
Several weeks later the boat was pulled from the lake and brought to usWe began an inspection of the boat and found many issues that typically come with a boat of this ageThe initial estimate was $11,747.00, which they were shown the scope of work to be done and agreed to the terms
it some time to completewhat was to be done and during this process, we found significant issues with the hull of the boat in that there were serious wear spots that need attention prior to getting back to the water
We estimated the cost to be considerably higher than what they were expecting and agreed to complete the obvious problems at no extra cost as they were a bit overwhelmed by the condition of the boat and money was an important issue
There were numerous delays in this project, none of which is attributed to the customerThey were cooperative in all facets of the repairsOnce the boat was completed as best it could be, it was delivered to the Sacramento River
From that point there were numerous complaints about water getting into the hullThe ***'s felt it was coming from the water tank we installed and after several trips to the marina, we were unable to determine where the water was coming from but that it was not coming from any work we performedAfter at least unpaid trips to the boat, it was determined that the leak may be coming from the hull of the boatMr*** did not believe this and was upset when we were not able to continue driving down to the river where the boat was without compensation
There is not a verifiable way to determine a leak in the hull without pulling the boat and re-glassing the hull up to the water lineThis process is very expensive and time consumingIt can not be done in the water and the expense, in my opinion, would greatly increase the cost to value ratio of the boat
We elected not to continue driving down to the boat for an issue that I felt was not attributed to our work, but a condition of age and lack of maintenance long before the ***'s were the unfortunate buyers
We would be happy to make repairs to the boat if it were back in our yardI would be willing to split the cost of the hull repair but not the transport
The screen door is something of a mystery to me but it was in fact there when it came to us and was missing when it leftWe would be happy to replace the entire screen
Thank you for your patience in getting this response and I am hoping this can all be worked out amicably as these customers are very important me and this company,
Sincerely, *** ***

We do not accept the response received from Mr. [redacted] because when we originally hired Mr. [redacted] it was agreed that he would transport our boat from "[redacted] to his facility to be inspected, advise and to be completely surveyed".  Due to the untimeliness of the pullout it was necessary for the boat to be driven from [redacted] to Bidwell marina.  Mr. [redacted] participated in driving the boat to Bidwell marina where it was pulled out.  When we met with Mr. [redacted] at his facility to be advised of the maintenance required  he informed us that a survey would not be necessary due to the lengthy time he had spent on the boat and his level of expertise in assessing vessels.  He said nothing regarding the boat taking on water at this or any other time.  When we visited the facility to review repairs there was no water in the front end of the boat where the water is now collecting, nor was there water in this section of the boat while it was berthed at [redacted]. We were advised that the hull be prepped and repainted which was done.  Mr. [redacted] did not say anything at that time about the hull leaking or needing to be reglassed. Mr. [redacted] states that we requested "modifications to the waste water system".  We did not.  We did request that a new toilet be installed and themodifications to the waste system became necessary to accommodate the new toilet. The toilet was installed and plumbed to the new tank. We requested and Mr. [redacted] supplied a new hot water heater and plumbed that as well. We do not believe that the leak is coming from the tank as we have drained the holding tank completely and when we returned a week later there was no water we could bilge out.  Our belief is that the leak is somewhere in the connections between the tanks. Our original request to Mr. [redacted] was to have the boat pulled out of the water, repaired and then transported to [redacted].  We never agreed to have the boat transported and put into the water while repairs were outstanding.  We were told originally in September of 2013 that the boat would be ready by the end of October, 2013.  Many things came up that were unexpected, and many times we believe that we were just not high on his priority list, but no matter what the reasons, the boat was not transported to Verona until March of 2014.  This left plenty of time for thorough inspections and repairs.    We feel that we paid for transportation once, and that should be all that is required.  All surveys and repairs should have been completed upon releasing the boat to us. He assured us that they were.  When the boat arrived the engine did not work. We are happy to be told that Mr. [redacted] is willing to replace the screen door as we have been requesting that the door be repaired or replaced since March and he done neither.

Review: Repairs were quoted to be completed by November 2013 and are not yet completed although the boat was released in March 2014.The screen door was removed and reinstalled with non working rollers. We were told that the plumbing would be inspected and repaired as needed and the vessel currently has a plumbing leak. Three attempts to find the leak have been made unsuccessfully. The overall quality of the work performed is poor, i.e., the boat was released and the motor did not run, the curtains that were installed are difficult to open and close, it required two trips back to the vessel to wire the invertor properly, etc. They lost one set of keys.Desired Settlement: I want the screen door to be made fully functional.I want the leak found and repaired at no further cost to me.
