B&R Electric was contacted by [redacted] on or around August of 2014 for an estimate on a remodel. We gave her an estimate (see attached) which she agreed to and then started work on 9-18-2014.  [redacted] promptly paid the initial invoice on 9-25-14. We then went out to hook up the well.  We...

found the old line (The one we anticipated using in our bid) was no longer a good line.  Our electrician told Ms. [redacted] the line needed to be re-run.  His recollection of the conversation was "he didn't like having to run the line" meaning he didn't like that we were having to charge her for doing additional work.  The new well line was installed and we invoiced Ms. [redacted] on 12-12-14 for $359.00.  She disputed the charges so B&R Electric reduced the invoice to $270.00 which Ms. [redacted] paid.  This is the first item we have an issue with. In her statement, Ms. [redacted] held back $200 for the well line, which we had already agreed to a reduction on. We then went back to trim out the remodel on or about 3-1-15.  The original electrician that did the rough in work was not available so we sent another crew, this is very common in our industry. Ms. [redacted] was not happy and called our office to complain. [redacted] in our office did tell her that in a perfect world the same crew would be able to perform the trim out, but because he was on another large project she would have to wait for him to finish before he could come back, and we wanted to accommodate her by having another electrician finish the project.  However, the crew we sent  a Master Electrician and was very competent.  The crew completed part of the trim out but Ms. [redacted] said she only wanted the original crew back.  We set an appointment for the original crew to come back and Ms. [redacted] did not show up for the appointment. We then set another appointment in which the crew completed the job.  We invoiced Ms. [redacted] on 3-9-15.  After 3 months of trying to collect via phone, text and eamil, we received a check, short the full amount by $573.00.  This check bounced and we incurred an $30.00 bank fee.  Several more days passed of trying to collect. Finally on 7-8-15 Ms. [redacted] provided a credit card.  We have attached scan documents of all the invoices with notes of collection.  Here are our points of argument. First, the original trim out was completed on or about the beginning of March. Ms. [redacted] claims she has had the problem since May 1st.  Our first call back from her was on 11-8-15.  Next, Ms. [redacted] had already received an agreed discount on the well wiring, but then shorted us by $200 (in her own words) on her final payment. Third, she claims we scratched a cabinet. We asked her for an invoice to show repairs of a scratched cabinet which she never produced. Fourth, all of our invoices are Net 15, not Net 45, so her final payment was EXTREMELY late. (See attached final invoice with notes)  At the time of her final payment, we just wanted to get paid, so we accepted the shorted amount.  We feel Ms. [redacted] broke our contract, so any warranty work would not be covered.  We at B&R Electric strive for all our customers to be 100% happy with the final product. It is an unfortunate scenario when a customer short pays an invoice, breaks a contract and then wants warranty work completed.
