Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below"We cannot compromise our stance
on safety and must make sure that aggressive individuals/drivers are made aware
of the danger they pose as a result of their failure to comply with a
flagman. Yearly, hundreds of
construction workers are killed due to negligence and we strive to ensure the
safety of the stakeholders in the communities we work inPlease note, the
complaintent’s request that we use someone else’s property to park and stage is
an unacceptable request. As we have
previously stated we try not to impact the community or private citizens."
First of all, the issue that I have has little to do with the incident which Mr*** spent a majority of his response addressing To clarify, I had no part in that incident it was my roommate, but there are a few things with which I must disagree First of all, I would not define following someone out of a trailer, cursing at them, then speeding up your walking speed to get in front of them and into their face saying "if you're feeling foggy leap" as well as calling him a "spoiled brat" as escorting them Furthermore, my roommate made it sound like whoever "escorted" him out of the trailer was not only looking to instigate the matter further, but it is also extremely inappropriate and unprofessionalI know for a fact that would never be acceptable in my place of work But this whole ordeal is of less importance to me and is not the true reason why I issued this complaintFinally, my residence had never received any flyer of any sort with any information pertaining to contacting the construction company, or that there would be consistent block of the only legal way for my car to get to my residence
The real reason I issued this complaint is because regardless of if you want to call it a driveway or "only an alleyway" it is still against the Richmond City Code to block a driveway, alleyway, easement, or right of way Please see below which can be found at www.richmond.gov under the parking tab:
Common Parking Violations
$Fine
Exceeding the time limit designated on signs
Violation of parking meter provisions
Parking improperly in a metered on-street parking space
Parking improperly in a metered off-street parking area
Parking oversized vehicles improperly in metered spaces
Parking or stopping on the wrong side of the street
$Fine
Parking in any location in violation of Richmond City Code, Section 102-222, to include the following places:
On a sidewalk
In front of a public or private driveway
Within an intersection
Within feet of a fire hydrant
On a crosswalk
Within feet of a crosswalk at an intersection
On the roadway side of any vehicle parked at the edge or curb of a street
At any place where official signs prohibit parking, or during street cleaning
At any place where an order, rule, or regulation issued prohibits or restricts parking
Parking in any lane marked and designated as a "fire lane," within or adjacent to a parking area or parking lot that is open to the public and which is designed to accommodate or more vehicles
Parking so as to block an alley or to block a driveway into an alley
$Fine
Parking in excess of the time limit designated on signs in a restricted parking district without a valid parking decal, temporary parking pass or visitor's parking pass for that restricted parking district
$Fine
Parking in a tow-away zone
Parking in a bus zone or taxicab stand
$Fine
Towing of illegally parked vehicles
$Fine
Parking in handicap zone
Parking in front of a ramp constructed for use of handicapped persons
Please note that my issuing of this complaint to the Revdex.com was advised by one of the police officer's who came to my house after calling the non-emergency number to resolve the issue, because he could only do anything about it if he saw it himself and by the time the officer got there two of the times we called, the construction site had been closed for evening(the officer didn't show up for over an hour after I placed the call)
On a final note, for Mr*** to say that parking in the grass lot is unacceptable is contradictory to the actions of some of the construction workers, as they park there after there isn't any available space in the alleyway or driveway, whichever you so choose to call it I have attached two pictures I took yesterday of a trailer that was left there, but more photos can be provided of cars and trucks upon request I don't feel that it is unacceptable to feel that I should not have to worry about if I can drive to work on time on a daily basis as access to this driveway is something that I pay rent on a monthly basis to have If my suggestion is not the greatest idea, I'm open to others, but I simply cannot accept that nothing be done about me having access to drive up to my houseThat is truly unacceptable

Dear Representative Revdex.com: We acknowledge that construction activity in a neighborhood can be an inconvenience, so that is why we passed...

out the attached flyer prior to starting construction. This is done in an effort to ensure individuals have direct access to us. In addition, we try to be good stewards in the communities in which we work.In an effort to reduce our impact, we currently have an agreement with the [redacted]
[redacted] to use their parking lots for the majority of our parking needs. We were surprised to find out that the complainant had previous issues; we had never heard from him or the police department before. On this particular incident as a City of Richmond police officer was directing traffic along Chamberlayne Parkway and our construction flagmen were directing traffic on [redacted] and *. [redacted], the complainant ignored directions given by the flagman and aggressively drove inside the construction zone. (Attached Exhibit A shows a typical flagman) Before the complainant made the left turn to enter the construction zone, he received hand signals from the flagman not to enter. The complainant made visual contact with the flagman and proceeded toward the construction zone, driving directly at the flagman who was standing in the center of the blocked street. The flagman had no choice but to step to the side to avoid the vehicle. (See Exhibit B) When the complainant drove past the flagman, he used profane language with his statement, "I (expletive) live here." He then drove off along his desired route. There were words shouted toward the complainant. He immediately stopped his vehicle in the middle of the street and exited his vehicle in a hostile manner. There was a heated verbal exchange between the complainant and the flagman. The complainant's actions along with exiting his vehicle caused the situation to escalate.Upon being unable to reason with the complainant, the construction flagman escorted the individual to the construction trailer to speak with his superior. After hearing the complainant's concerns - he was informed that for everyone's safety he should have heeded the directions given by the flagman and not enter into the construction zone until being directed to do so. Upon being told that, the complainant blurted out, "This is BS." As a result of his action, we were unable to further our discussion with him and asked him to leave the trailer. He was then personally escorted outside of the construction fence and back to his vehicle to ensure his safety. While being escorted to his vehicle, the complainant continued with his verbal brow beating which resulted in a heated exchange of words. The complainant described that there were vehicles and heavy machinery blocking their "driveway." There is no driveway, only an alleyway that we do our best not to impede upon. (Exhibit F&G) As there have been four active construction projects in the areas [redacted] (Exhibit E), [redacted] (Exhibit C&D) and [redacted]( our project), we simply wanted him to identify the vehicle or vehicles that block the alleyway. This would have allowed us an opportunity to address his concerns and determine if the vehicles in question are
associated with individuals working on this project. However because of his
actions we were unable to get that information.   We cannot compromise our stance
on safety and must make sure that aggressive individuals/drivers are made aware
of the danger they pose as a result of their failure to comply with a
flagman.  Yearly, hundreds of
construction workers are killed due to negligence and we strive to ensure the
safety of the stakeholders in the communities we work in. Please note, the
complaintent’s request that we use someone else’s property to park and stage is
an unacceptable request.  As we have

Review: The construction company mentioned has continuously broken Richmond City ordinances while it's employees habe been working on the renovation of the [redacted] in Richmond, Virginia. On numerous occasions they have blocked the driveway to my residence with cars and trucks unneccessarily. They have also blocked it with heavy machinery. On a few rare occasions they have refused to move the vehicles and in one instance the employees of this company have verbally assaulted my roommate and the acting foreman even became aggressive and tried to instigate my roommate into fisticuffs. Local police have been called to resolve the matter but the company continues to disregard my household's complaints and continue to block the driveway whenever local police are not around.Desired Settlement: I would like the blockage of my driveway to stop as there is plenty of room in the vacant lot next to the property for vehicles and construction materials alike to be set within a reasonable distance of the construction site which will not obstruct the entrance to my driveway.
