Time lost
This company passed the buck when we needed life-or-death care. We faithfully paid annual premium only to be transferred around, given vague and unprofessional instructions and denied the coverage on murky pretenses. Their employees logged my email incorrectly, further delaying response. To give false hope and take someone’s money during medical crises is unconscionable. Complete sham & way to sabotage a family that’s already suffering

Butte debacle
My wife cracked her pelvic and had to stay in the hospital for 3 days and EAP did nothing for us when called. EAP -, Emergency Assistance Plus, was called and the person that answered asked for so many questions to include talking to the doctor, that I gave up. They did nothing for us. They did give me a free year $144 but I just cannot trust them to be there when I need them. So, I cancelled This year and in the future.

Rip-Off
Fell in Tel Aviv (Israel). Hurt my hand (turned out it was broken). Called Emergency Assistance and asked for help and advice. Told me to go to the hospital. Asked if they would follow up. They said 'the hospital will take care of it---." Knew nothing of getting into the hospital services. Finally gave up. Called EA again---they said '...sorry, can't help you. See a doctor.' Called a friend and he took me through all that was necessary to finally see a doctor and get taken care of at a hospital. EA is a total rip-off. Don't believe all those wonderful stories attesting to how much help they are. I'd guess they're written by EA employees, not people suckered into buying their plan by airlines like United. I'd give EA no stars if I could.

So difficult to establish contact
I signed up for EA+ through United several years ao. Before going on a trip recently Idecided to test the contact procenss. Used the phone, got into IVR, input the information directly from my ca rd...I dont have group number on my card it says "individual" The IVR can't deal with that. Long hold time, get associate they give suggestions...none work...the url they give me to test online shows up as no longer working...why have insurance if they make sure you can't reach them?

So glad I found these reviews
I'm quick to toss junk mail unopened, but something made me open the envelope from EA+. I ACTUALLY read it vs scanning and decided to look into it further. There will always be those who are not happy and those who can't say enough good things. My husband and I are getting older and it seems one or both of us are always going some where. Just recently I purchased trip insurance but I pretty much felt I was tossing my money away - even though I fortunately didn't need it. I didn't see that EA+ was promising the world and life experience has shown that people don't always read what they are getting into, or in an emergency have unrealistic expectations. So I am going to activate registration right now and I thank all of you for sharing your experiences and for EA+ responding to the comments.

I recently broke my hip in Istanbul, Turkey Fortunately, I had insurance protection through my tour company I also had Emergency Assistance Plus Contrary to their claims they did not put me in touch with a medical person They claim a nurse tried to call me but no such incoming call shows up on my T-Mobile bill for that period I had to decide whether to have surgery and what type to have My daughter contacted my orthopedist in Phoenix and HE called me in Istanbul with advice on how to proceed The only reason we purchased Emergency Assistance Plus was for the medical advice component Based upon my experience this was a poor investment I DO highly recommend Trip Mate for travel insurance as they did an excellent job

EA PLUS provided mewith needed support assisting me with travel home following an accident where my back was injuredThey provided a nurse to accompany me on a flight from the east coast to my California home, including limocine service ffrom theairport to my homean hour away from the airport

My husband purchased an EA+ policy through NRA several years ago but we had never had a situation where we needed to use itOn May 5th of this year we set out on our "Bucket List" trip to travel across Canada via trainWe made it to the 6th night of our day trip when my husband suffered an unexpected esophageal tearHe ended up having surgery and spent nights in a hospital in Calgary, AlbertaOne of the first calls I made when we got to the hospital was to EA+Thank goodness we had EA+ to arrange transportation home since the rest of the trip was cancelled Each person I spoke with was kind and helpful and walked me through all the paperworkThe night my husband was released from the hospital EA+ flew a nurse from New York to Calgary so that she could accompany us homeA car picked us up the next morning and a wheelchair was arranged at each airportUpon arriving to our hometown, a car picked all of us up and took us homeThe nurse took my husband's vitals one more time before leavingWe have told all our friends about EA+ and just cannot say enough good things about this coverage

I am not a member but am presently considering becoming one at this time While there are only two reviews over three years, they are very negative on specifically the points I would buy this service for What is much much more compelling is that the second one got a response on the same day the first one didmonths later !!!

This is a belated thank you to all the members of the EA+ staff from my wife and meIn late October, while in Positano, Italy my wife became ill and needed medical assistanceWe had enjoyed a lovely vacation in Italy, from Lake Como, to Tuscany and finally the Amalfie CoastI called EA+ and spoke with Antonella who put in motion things we should doShe located a small hospital in Sorrento where my wife received care on two separate days in a small emergency roomBecause of her condition, we knew we would be unable to continue our tripWith the help of the EA+ physicians (whose names I regretfully do not recall), arrangements were made for us to fly to Paris and then board a direct flight to RaleighThey even insisted that I join my wife in business class rather than staying back in economyWe cannot express our thanks and appreciation for all that was done to make such a frightening situation, tolerable, calming and comfortingThank you all Sincerely, Jerry and Peg Bernstein

WHAT DID YOU PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE SERVICES?

My husband and I were on vacation in London, England We had just walked a couple miles to a museum, walked around the museum for over an hour, then were walking back to our Airb&b rental, when we stopped at a Tesco Express grocery store to pick up a few items to keep in the small frig of our condo As I was paying for our purchases, my husband said he wanted to go get some fresh air A few seconds later, I heard a loud thud and turned around to see my husband lying flat on the floor There had been a small metal stand advertising some products on the floor, in the middle of a small walkway, which he had tripped over He thought he probably would just sit up, dust himself off, and continue out of the store However, when I ran over to him, he said he couldn't feel his arms or legs A Tesco worker asked if he should call EMS; I said yes, and they talked to me until the Emergency vehicle arrived.to take Paul to the hospital We were taken to StMary's hospital because it was well-kown as a trauma surgery hospital After x-rays and an MRI, it was found that Paul had a broken nose, broken spine, and strokes next to the spine, caused by whiplash He wound up being in London hospitals, the second one, being a rehabilitaion ward for stroke patients, for days Fortunately, I had purchased EA+ insurance a couple years earlier, and I called them To make a long story short, when we were finally repatriated, EA+ sent an escort nurse to Charing Cross Hospital, arranged for an ambulance to take us from the hospital to Heathrow airport, reclining seats in business class for Paul and the escort nurse, while I sat in coach for the hour trip to Charlotte, NC, then another ambulance for the 1/hour trip from the airport to the rehabilitation hospital minutes from our home in Asheville, NC Communication back and forth from OnCall International, the "mother ship" for EA+, and myself couldn't have been better, first every other day, then when getting closer to leaving London, daily phone calls Many of our friends, who were planning foreign trips, needless to say, bought EA+ insurance after we told them our story Thank you, EA+, I had so much to do while in London, getting Paul into the hospital near home, and standing by Paul for + hours each day, feeding, and tending to him, it was such a relief knowing I didn't have to arrange for transportation and repatriation also

Hi. This is confusing. So you bought your policy from EU? But oncall is who you communicated with? Did they pay return flight cost? What about hospital costs? Thanks

I have signed up in the past believing that this outfit existed and was supported by USAirways, now American Airlines I could find nothing about the firm itself, ie, who owns it, what is their track record, what have customers said about the service Nothing is out there except a very cryptic link or two to other assistance elements, whether it be a helicopter service, medical advice, etc
I believe whomever signed up for this has been taken and this is a scam effort I will not be signing up again and throwing out their renewal info!

I have already recommended EA+ to many of my family and friends When my husband suffered a heart attack when we were half way around the world, EA+ took care of providing all the services that they advertised They furnished us a hotel room until he was ready to fly home They sent an escort nurse and flew us back in business class and kept my husband on oxygen We were so thankful to be home They arranged and furnished the flights for us and also arranged the 1/hour drive to our house The nurse checked him one final time and then they went on their way For no more than this insurance costs, it can come in very handy when you have a need

EA did nothing for me. They used a loophole to avoid helping. My husband and I were away from home on a routine medical check up for an unrelated mater. Pre tests showed different problems, he was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic can, a few days later he was in hospice. He wanted to go home so I called for help in getting him home.

EA said since he was on a medical visit, he wasn't eligible for help. Their brochure says traveling away from home, it says nothing about an office list with the doctor.

All these years we have paid these premiums and felt we covered and secure.

They gave no assistance at all not even advice on alternatives. Nothing, no help at all.

Thank you for sharing your concerns about the EA+ program.  EA+ is a membership program that arranges and pays up front for some important benefits and services to help our members when they get sick or injured while traveling.  In the last year alone, we are so fortunate to have paid...

for benefits worth millions of dollars to help our members in need.  We take great pride in the service we provide and ensure that our sales materials reflect the benefits we cover.  We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your experience.  We offer all members a 30-day money back guarantee, and the purpose of this is to allow time for members to review the plan description to help determine if EA+ is the right product for their travels. If during the 30-day period, the member feels EA+ is not right for them they are issued a refund for their entire purchase. Additionally, if a member calls our customer service phone number printed on the application they can request a copy of the plan description prior to enrolling. To address your concern about the documentation including language stating there is “unlimited air transportation” home, we can confirm that none of our sales materials or our official plan description include that language.  The dollar amount for covered benefits and services in the EA+ plan is unlimited, as long as the services in question are covered by the plan. In order to keep our members’ information private and secure, we don’t discuss the details of specific cases in public forums.  Therefore, we will continue to be in contact with you offline, and are working diligently to review your case and ensure that you were provided all benefits that are promised by our plan.

I am thinking about purchasing your policy for myself and my husband. A common complaint of the persons unhappy with your policy is the fact that you are difficult to reach in case of an emergency. Do you actually have a hotline or a phone number to call if there is an emegency?

EA PLUS provided mewith needed support assisting me with travel home following an accident where my back was injured. They provided a nurse to accompany me on a flight from the east coast to my California home, including limocine service ffrom theairport to my homean hour away from the airport.

called we were going through a system upgrade and the option to refund to your credit card was temporarily unavailable. Upon receiving this inquiry, the refund check had already been cut and sent out to you.
