I called last night and requested a gentleman named [redacted] but he was denied our job because it was going to [redacted] Well, [redacted] was at our home today to look into a leak at our hot water heater, we chose them because my husband used to work there and trusts their work, and all he did was look at it briefly and say what he thought would have to happen, that he would have to talk with the reconstruction guys about scheduling, and that he would get in touch with me. Never once did he have anything for me to sign, even when I asked if I needed to sign anything he said no that I would sign the paper when they came out to start. My insurance adjuster was there at the same time to get his estimates for our claim, when he called me back with his estimate he informed me that emergency reconstruction had emailed him saying that they would not be taking this job of ours because of the fact that my husband used to work there. This was less than 45 minutes after [redacted] left my home. I believe he planned this from the beginning to waste our time and to just bother my husband and I. He is the most unprofessional and untrustworthy individual I have ever met and had no right to even come out if he knew from the beginning that he was going to screw us and leave us with wet floor even longer and not do the job. That's why he did not let [redacted] come out, because he would have actually done the job and done it right and in a timely manner for us. That is poor customer service and customer management!!!!! When I called the company to make a complaint I was given excuses of they went round and round of whether to accept the job or not because of the fact that my husband used to work there and that some of their practices have changed. I believe that [redacted] knew exactly whose home he was coming to as soon as he heard the name and address because he had met me and had even stored his boat that he used to have at our home for a little while at one point. Very Unprofessional employees!!!

Project Manager kept changing bill submitted to me after being asked to correct unnecessary charges. Project manager [redacted] had sent me the bill for emergency boarding that Emergency Reconstruction company performed on my house. After asking him to correct labor charges for two carpenters working on my house for 8 hours when there was only one person working on my house for less than two hours, I was told this "That actually covers the time I've spent out there as well."This is the time he spent in my house to write an estimate and I was never informed that I will be charged for getting an estimate from them. I have a copy of all correspondences between Mr. [redacted] and I and I'm more than happy to share it if necessary, so that you can see how misleading the billing process is.Desired SettlementI'm seeking for my bill to be corrected to two hours of labor instead of eight, and no charges for estimates, since I never agreed on these charges.Business Response /[redacted]/Contact Name and Title: [redacted]/OwnerContact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]@emergencyreconstruction.comI am the owner. The first time this bill crossed my desk was today. The homeowner filed a complaint within days of receiving an invoice without attempting to go up the ladder to seek resolution. If I had any idea that this customer was upset I would have handled this much differently than the emergency response manager handled the issue. This was an emergency that occurred on 12/22/14 We had a skeleton crew. The individual who would normally handle billing and invoicing was out for the holidays. Therefore, the billing was incorrect.I have called the homeowner and informed him that we are refunding his entire payment. The check is going out today. He stated that he was pleased with this result. I hope this warrants elimination of this complaint.Consumer Response /[redacted]/

[redacted] and his team did a thorough and professional job and I was happy they were on my side. They always had time to answer questions and seemed to really care about my well-being. They made an awful water situation bearable and I appreciate all their help.

The company owes an insurance check to cover costs for a repair, and will not submit it. Emergency Reconstruction was chosen by the previous owners of my house to complete water damage found in the home during due diligence. My husband and I moved in to the home on 1/8/16 and immediately had issues with the project managers. Therefore, we asked to just receive the insurance check and detailed bill of what was completed, so we could hire our own people to complete the job. I have followed up with the organization several times inquiring about our check and I always get the response that it is not available yet or the manger is out in the field, and they will get back to me as soon as they are back in the office. This has yet to happen. We were promised the check over a week ago and they are still holding on to our money that we need to get this work done in our home. I would like the check I am owed and an itemized bill of the dry-out work that was completed.Desired SettlementAll I want is the insurance check and the itemized bill of the work completed.Business Response Prior to Mr. & Mrs. [redacted] purchasing the home, there was a water leak which caused damage to the laundry room, garage and crawl space insulation. On 01/07/16 Emergency Reconstruction (ER) was hired to mitigate and possibly repair the damage. ER extracted water, tore out non-salvageable vinyl, underlayment, drywall and insulation, bagged and hauled debris to be disposed, treated the area with antimicrobials, placed dehumidifiers and air movers, monitored moisture levels and removed all equipment when moisture levels had dropped to an acceptable level. The prior homeowner's insurance company paid for this work to be completed. Our field technician met with Mrs. [redacted] on 01/10/16 and explained that this mitigation process was separate from the remaining reconstruction that would need to be done to the home. Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] decided not to have ER do the remaining work and ER agreed to send any additional proceeds from the former home owner and their insurance company to the [redacted]During the third week in January ER received payment from the former owner's insurance company as well as the deductible amount from the former owner. After depositing these funds and ensuring they had cleared our bank we issued a check to [redacted] on 02/16/16 which cleared our account on 02/22/16. This check was for $3,473.34 which was the total amount our company received for this portion of the job. The amount received by ER from the insurance company was based on the insurance company's original estimate which was done remotely. This payment included a deduction for "depreciation" which is standard in the insurance industry. This amount would be reimbursed to the policy holder (the former home owner) after all repairs were complete and a Certificate of Satisfaction was signed. We are happy to provide Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] with the revised estimate prepared by our Account Manager. The previous owners would have to request a copy of the original estimate from their insurance company because we do not have it in our possession and the insurance company is required by privacy laws to only send it to the policy holder. All funds received by ER have been paid to the [redacted] No further funds are due.
