Emergency restoration & Contracting did the repairs for the homeownersThe work started in September *** and the work was completed in October of ***The Final payment was made on 11/1/*** which started the warranty period for one yearWe received a call on 11/1/** at 10:A.M
about a roof leakMyself and another project manager went to the house for an inspection and found the flat roof and gutters had leaves piled up on themAt that time I told the owner that the leaves were causing the roof and gutters not to drain properly which is a maintenance item that the owner is responsible forThe next time we received a call was on 6/20/20** which is months after the first call and the warranty is expiredWe should have received a call sooner than months if the roof was continuing to leakAs customer service Emergency Restoration is looking into the cause of the leakIf it is something that was done improperly at the time the work was done we will address these issuesWe have the roofer and the siding crews going out to look at the area in which the roof has leakedWe will know more after this inspectionWe will address and fix any issues that we find that are a direct cause of improper installationWe will not address any maintenance issues that is the owners responsibility like caulking, stopped up gutters, and debris on roofWe are working on getting things resolved

The customer states that he is getting the run around and this is a statementI have been addressing his issue and personally went out to his house and inspected the problem MyselfUpon my inspection we found the gutters to be full of debris except where you could reach from the roofWe did a water test and the roof leaked after several minutes and we removed the siding to find the step flashing to be full of debris and we cleaned that out and could not get the roof to leak anymore in that location in less you dammed the roof so water will back upThe step flashing is installed correctlyThere is a gutter that dumps in the corner of that roof and he was instructed to get it extended to the other gutter which has not been done yetWe did find an area the was not caulked up and we fixed that area alsoThe interior damage has been going on long before we ever did the roof replacementAll of the framing for that roof is rotted to the point where there is not much left of structural woodThis type of rot does not happen in a years timeI also talked to the roofer that did the install and he replaced a lot of wood that was rotted out that was not charged to the customerThe customer also says that other companies have stated it was poor installation of the siding and roofWe totally disagree with this statementThe siding and roof are properly installedThe customer also stated that he can have more contractors to come out and say what he wants them to sayThe issue the customer is having is due to poor maintenance of his home due to trees right next to the houseAs a company we have done more than is requiredThe first call came in after the warranty expired which we went out and found the roof and gutters full of debrisWe get a call months later so we are way out of the warranty period and we still have addressed his issues

This company agreed when there were out, project mgr*** and siding mgr, to fix not only the outside poor installation issues but also the inside We continue to have leaking inside the house which my husband has video documented and sent to both of the above employees We have texted and talked with both over the last week and they keep telling us they will be out to fix it, but have YET to see anyone or have a scheduled time In the meantime, my husband placed a gutter extension as was suggested by *** the project manager, but the interior of the house STILL leaks when raining We continue to get put off and no urgency to water damage our house continues to experience The mold issues are now becoming a concern

In response to the letter dated 8/**/[redacted]. Emergency Restoration did not agree to fix the exterior because of Poor Installation. The shingles and the step flashing were installed properly and the cause of the leak is due to debris collecting in the flashing allowing water to back up the roof. Step flashing is installed on a roof to shed water off it. You put a piece of step flashing down and put a shingle on top of it and repeat this till you get to the top thus it is overlapped from the bottom to the top and will shed the water. The only way it will allow water to go under the step flashing is if the water is not running freely off the roof. This has been the issue the entire time along with the gutter not being cleaned out. There is a very mature tree within a couple foot of this roof area that is overhanging the house and letting all the debris from the tree to collect in the gutters and roof. After talking to [redacted] that did the roof originally he stated before he installed the new roof the room below this area was completely gutted to the studs because it had been leaking all over. A skylight was removed that had been leaking. The leaking of the roof was going on long before we ever set foot on the job site. As a customer service we have been working to resolve his issue with the roof. On 8/20/[redacted] went out to fix the flashing issue. He installed a one piece flashing and sealed the shingles to it so that there is no step flashing that would allow water to back up and go under the flashing. A water test was done and could not get it to leak. While he was there the customer pointed out a window that was leaking and [redacted] put a ladder up to look at the gutter to see what the issue was and he found that the gutter was completely full and would not allow water to flow thru the gutter causing it to overflow and run down the fascia to the window. The customer also pointed out to him a plumbing boot that he states is not installed correctly but is in fact installed correctly. The plumbing pipe is cast iron and has most likely rusted out inside the attic and no longer connected to the pipe letting it to move freely. At this time we have not addressed the interior and not sure that we will. Knowing now that the room was previously gutted and the fact that [redacted] said the room looks no different than it did when he put on the new roof and new door in that room. If the room had been remodeled there would be no reason to remove all the drywall in that room only the affected areas of water damage. Emergency Restoration is not going to remodel a room for free that could be in the same shape it was three years ago. We have no proof that it had been put back together and the fact that [redacted] says it looks exactly the same. Emergency Restoration has gone above and beyond with addressing the customers leaking issues that were not related to the installation of the new roof.

We continue to get the "run around"   We have left several messages with [redacted] the project manager, the office and [redacted], the Owner (of whom we have never actually talked to).  Roofers and siding workers were supposed to follow up today, 7/23, and nobody has called or come by.  I have worked from home for 2 days now awaiting visits that they assured would be happening.
Additionally,  houses dont leak from gutters being full when the gutters are emptied.  ER restoration 's own employees agree that it is poor installation.  Poor installation is not a warranty issue....warranties are related to damage incurred or product malfunction, but the problems we are having are from the installation of the project and poor workmanship of the installors.  We have had other company in to inspect and agree that the problems are related to the installation from this company not any damage to the current roof or siding, including gutter maintenance.
POOR POOR customer service.  We are prepared to take them to court due to the health issue as well because we have 3 children, one with asthma and the continued water damage and mold is a dangerous.
Regards,

Emergency Restoration & Contracting (ERC) was contacted by the insurance company as a referral for a repair company. The customer is the one who hired us to do the work for them not the insurance company. We were not very far along with the repairs when we received a call from the referral...

company about some drywall issues and at that time it was decided that emergency restoration would not complete the work that needed to be done. The customer was only charged for the flooring material that was already ordered. I have spoke with Micha and the trim that ERC delivered back to the house was the only trim that was removed from the house. A broken piece was going to be used to match the stain color and he had a unused piece the was less than 2' long to use to get new trim made. Both pieces were returned to the house per the customer request. I did some further checking on the metal door wrap and one of my guys just admitted that it was hit and had a scratch in it. I am mailing a check in the amount of $125.00 to the customer which will cover the cost to get the door wrap replaced. The owners other issues of trying to bill for work that was not completed and not repairing additions issues, ERC did not bill for work that was not completed and we did not charge for any of the work that had been completed so the owner was not out of pocked anything to do the repairs because the check was sent to the insurance company and the customer was paid for all the work except the flooring materials. The flooring materials were ordered drop and roll so the statement of saying there was too much carpet ordered is false. Unless the floor was installed with alot of seams the waste from the carpet was factored into the estimate. Example: 16x16 room you would have to order 32' of carpet 12' wide to carpet the room. Some carpets can be install with what is called a T-seam so you could order less carpet and put a bunch of seams in the floor. But most carpets if installed with a T-seams they are very noticible so we order the drop and roll and will add the waste off one room to finish another and so on. So depending how the carpet was installed there could be more left over than if installed a different way. ERC is mailing out the check to the customer for the door wrap and we have already addressed the base issue.
