EWR appreciates your review! Thank you for being an EWR customer!

On 11/5/18, Matt T(Branch Manager)from your Nashville TN Branch came to my house to meet with a Plumbing company due to a severe hot water line burst that had caused severe mold in my home. Mr. T did several tests and inspected the mold/water damage in my home and crawlspace and told me it would cost me $7000.00 to clean everything up. From November 2018 till 12/31/18 Emergency Water Removal (EWR) came and ripped out patches of walls, ripped up bathroom floor and said they removed all the crawl space insulation and removed all the water. In January 2019, I contacted Mr. T because I had received no further information on the next steps to repair all the damage. Mr. T told me that it was up to me to find someone to repair all the damage EWR had done and all they do is dry the water up. I had to hire a contactor to have drywall replaced and flooring replaced. I contact another Mold specialist 1/28/19 to repair my crawlspace. They took photos off my crawl space which I have and told me there was still mold, still water and wet insulation which EWR never removed. This cost me several more thousand dollars to have my crawlspace finally repaired since EWR did not do the job correctly. I am disgusted that I was lied to and taken advantage of by EWR company. EWR also destroyed two baseboard vents when they were supposedly drying my house up. Your company did not do as you advertise on your website which is to "bring a home to its pre-damaged condition quickly"! I emailed EWR main office in *** thru their website on 2/25/19 and as of today, I have never received any response. I want a refund for services that were not completed. There is no excuse for lying to me my your Nashville Branch and telling me the job was completed when it was not! This $7000.00 repair ballooned to over $13,000 because your company never completed the work I was told would be done and I had to hire a contractor and another mold specialist to complete the job! I have photos I *** be happy to send!!

Refund I want a refund for services which were not done! I have Photos taken by the second Mold specialist showing what EWR had not done after I was told the mold and water was gone.

Ms. was quoted $7000 solely for water mitigation and informed that our professional opinion was that it was not likely that it would be covered by her insurance due to long term microbial growth. No additional services were quoted or indicated on the work authorization form.

After informing her of the inspection findings, and the following procedures, Ms. chose to pursue coverage through her insurance company at which time we mentioned if covered, the provider may interpret the conditions as "un-livable" in which case temporary lodging could be provided while the work was performed. At that time she stated that in any case, she would not leave the property as she had numerous medium to large dogs living in the 1184 sq ft single bathroom home. We informed her it would be extremely challenging, however we would do our best to accommodate her. This is the primary reason the job took over a month (11/19/19 - 12/31/19).

We also explained to her, although it did not seem to be related, we would be glad to remove as much of the growth covered sheet-rock in the garage as possible with out the removal of the HVAC unit and water heater.

We performed the demolition and drying in the closet, bathroom, garage, and removed a small amount of insulation in the crawlspace.

I was referred to this company by a plumber I had called for an odor in my bathroom. They responded immediately and sent *** or *** who told me it was a critical issue. He gave me no receipt for his estimate of 4900.00. He said they needed to take care of it now that mold was in my crawlspace and could make people sick. I was told first that there was black mold in my bathroom and the plumber removed it. His friend arrived and by this time I was scared to death. He said he could get started with a partial payment which was all I could get together 3500.00. He promised a receipt and I gave him a check when his team got there. They were in crawlspace as far as I know for several hours and dumped the insulation on the back lawn. They set up dehumidifiers and never came or called back. I called the numbers given me which were not connected. I got the company number and just John came out and collected them and asked about the other 1300. I was on the phone to insurance and John said: they wont pay for this, but he would "check back." Never did! I'm a 100% disabled veteran and was unable physically to crawl under the house. My Brother came to check on situation in crawlspace a few days later and came back with when *** they start? I was in shock. They had pulled out the insulation and cut away a small piece of ground cover and sprayed clorox on the wood. Mold was white so not so much an immediate danger, Nothing was done or completed and I lost 3500.00. The insurance company sent an adjuster who said my brother was correct..he saw standing water, mold, a torn up ground cover and they were not able to help me with it. It sent me into the hospital. I have another veteran contractor with full credentials who has completed the job now out of pity charging me as I can pay something. They have pictures of before and after work done, with french drains a sump-pump, mold removal, gutter repair, moisture barrier and update all during work. Cost was 1/3 of what was charged by EWR for nothing.

We contracted with this customer on 8/15/2017 to perform partial mold abatement of the hardest affected areas of the customers crawlspace. She was made aware at the time that she had a ground water intrusion issue and it even stated on the contract she signed. She stated that she wanted us to get rid of the mold on the floor joist but was not going to be getting the foundation issues fixed. She was explained in the beginning that even if we remove the microbial growth that if the issue is not fixed the microbial growth would in fact return as there is still moisture being introduced to the environment. We also explained that with us moving forward with the mitigation and the source not being fixed we would offer no warranty on this work as it will come back. We have before and after photos as well showing all the work that was performed during the mitigation process. As mentioned in the comments above by the customer they had to add french drains, a sump-pump, do gutter repairs, and add a moisture barrier which customer was fully aware needed to take place in the beginning.

The above statement "to perform partial mold abatement of the hardest affected areas of the customers crawlspace..." This is a false statement. I had a witness of Nurse *** who was sitting with me at the time help was requested. I was told I had a "critical amount of mold," and we can treat it and get rid of it. My nurse has asthma and her grandchild had died the past weekend from mold! I was totally shocked at the cost of 4900.00 and they needed at least part of this amount to get started on work. I stated that all I had was 3500.00 and asked why it cost so much. He said that they had to use a crew to remove mold and treat the wood. (not done). Then they would need to discard all mold covered items according to *** Law. (not done) The crew came and we could hear them in the crawlspace and it didnt sound like work! Dehumidifiers were set up, a check was given for 3500.00 and the next time I saw them (about 3 days) they got the some pink insulation from back yard and left a few minutes later. I never saw the workers again. Then *** (*** came up with the number he had given me) maybe who does not appear to exist...came by and got his equipment and I never saw him again. 2 days later my brother came over to check their work as I am 100% disabled and can not get into the crawlspace; and he asked when they were going to start? I was in shock. He took pictures and got the number for ***? (who the company says does not work there?) All numbers connected to *** were either disconnected or not a working number. The company kept saying they would have him call me. The insurance company sent an adjuster as I was so upset and he concurred with my brother that he had no idea where they had done any work as only a small piece of ground cover had been cut out. Mold Was still there. I want a refund as they did NOT render services or the help I asked for ...and in front of a witness they promised me help which they never provided. They promised itemized statements never received, no return calls or follow ups and the check was not cashed until the 25th which was necessary immediately for supplies? I could not catch the check in time so I was taken advantage of for 3500.00. If this *** does not work there now...how do they know any of what he even did? I called them numerous times and was redirected or promised a call back which I never received. Not once.

I paid 3500. for what work? Who is answering you for *** and please have them show all these things and MY CRAWLSPACE FINISHED. It just is not the truth! They left shortly after they arrived and I did not see them again but for an hour! So no matter what they say is the start and finish time, it was not consistent but intermittent work...if any! I saw nothing worth the charged amount and as far as my knowledge... I had no idea what needed to be done! If I had known, that is what I would have specifically asked for! I am a elderly disabled first time homeowner and I was trusting this company to help me...which I was told was "critically needed" and their meager few hours work had to be redone because what they did was not even professionally done! Their cost and not giving me what I was promised. They took advantage of my lack of knowledge about the mold and cheated me of my entire savings! I am sorry but their responses are fiction.

Stay away!!! ESPECIALLY if homeowners insurance is part of the picture. I submitted a claim to my insurance company because there was a blockage in my septic tank and it cause a backup into my basement bathroom and bedroom area. Because the claim was filed days after the two hurricanes hit Florida and other states, it was almost a week before my insurance company reached out to me. TOTALLY understandable. Peachtree Emergency Water Removal came out 8 days after I opened my claim. I had already determined the source of the flood, and cleaned the affected area already with massive doses of bleach and steam cleaning, and had set up 3 high velocity fans and 2 dehumidifiers I own, and ran them for almost 4 days. They were scheduled to arrive between 1 and 1:30, but after several phone calls from them indicating they were running behind, they finally showed up at 9PM. First, they charged us for after hours support. Then they charged us for 24 pieces of equipment, when they actually only brought 12. They billed us for 6 hours, when they were only at our house to set up for a max of 1.5 hours. I would think that if they showed up at 9, we would know if they left at 3AM. They showed up absolutely unannounced the next morning at 9AM to pick up the damaged floor they put out back. I denied them entry, as I had JUST woken up, and it was reasonable to expect them to come during a scheduled window. They re-scheduled, and didn't show up for almost 10 days after the rescheduled time, rather coincidentally, the day before we got the bill for their service, and without picking up the vanity they removed that was also damaged with category 3 damage. They never gave an estimate or a quote. When my wife called their office, one of the employees was beyond rude to her and said "You WILL listen to me", and "Are YOU a water mitigation specialist?". They did work without a quote, without an estimate, without our prior approval, either to us (the customer, or our insurer) and at a cost of almost 2K above what the repair cost of the damage itself is. They charged what they did, in my opinion, because it was an insurance claim, because of the insurer already handling 10's of thousands of claims from the hurricane, and thus less likely to question any estimate or bills. What they did is one of the reasons homeowners insurance policies go up.

Emergency Water Removal Response

We did have a contract signed with customer before any work was performed on this loss and it was explained that we bill using a software call Xactimate. Xactimate is a software created by insurance companies to prevent price gouging. As for the time we were scheduled to be onsite it was scheduled between the hours of 6-8pm and is even stated on the contract the customer signed beforehand. we did contact the customer before the scheduled time to let them know we were running about an hour behind their scheduled time and we showed up to the property at 8:50pm as shown in our date and time stamped photos of their property. As far as the billing issues that the customer doesn't understand, as we bill though the software Xactimate there are items that are set by the billing software that are based off set pricing regardless of what actually occurred. For instance...... say we place 4 air movers at a property. The software is set up to bill for .25 hrs per piece of equipment regardless if it take 5 min or 1 hour per piece of equipment then it calculates the same time for pickup. As for the billing of 24 pieces of equipment, that goes back to the simple fact that we bill for each piece of equipment per 24 hr period as the software requires. So if we had 2 air movers for 2 days the xactimate invoice would show 4 air movers. Like stated above we do not give written estimate before mitigation is complete if going through insurance as we are required by the insurance to use xactimate for billing. We going through insurance the bill is reviewed for accuracy by a state licensed insurance adjuster before it is approved. As for stating that the mitigation bill is out of line due to the fact that the rebuild cost less than the mitigation would be wrong. If you only are replacing and painting drywall it would be less expensive as regardless if we remove we have to dry the property out properly. So the cost of replacement off the materials in no way affects the cost to dry out the structure. We requested that the customer return the check that the insurance company paid them based off our documentation submitted and we will resubmit the documentation for review again be the adjuster. The issue seems to be that now the customer would like us to reduce our invoice, as they do not understand the insurance billing software, and they would like to keep the addition insurance monies instead of returning them, thus committing insurance fraud. We are more that happy to submit our documentation back to the insurance company for another review but the insurance company will not allow another review until the funds that have already been submitted to customer have been returned.

These people are the worst. We thought we could trust them as we were referred to them buy a trusted plumber. The first day they came out it was all roses. They seemed really concerned about our situation. They came out a few days later to put out dryers, and air purifiers. It has been about two weeks and we cannot get in touch with anyone to pick up the equipment. when they do call to pick it up they call at 930-1000 at night saying they can be out here in a few hours. I'm sorry but I don't want anyone coming out to my home at midnight. They will also schedule and then not show up. Also this company has held up my homeowners claim. My homeowners feel that this company created more damage to my home by busting up tile that was in good condition. They also put a hole in my subfloor. The only reason I'm giving them 1 star is because I have to. This company deserves an F. STAY AWAY.

Emergency Water Removal Response

I apologize for any inconvenience you may have incurred due to the water damage at your property. We did offer to start the mitigation process on the day the contracts were signed but were told by home owner that they would prefer to wait until the weekend, which was 4 days later. We had to do asbestos testing to the property due to the age of the property. Once we received the results back we waited until the weekend to start mitigation. The property tested positive for asbestos in 1 area of the home. We were able to complete mitigation the same day we came out to start. All equipment that was set on day 1 was picked up 4 days later except the equipment in the area that tested positive for asbestos. We submitted the paperwork and documentation to the insurance company for the asbestos portion per their request. Due to the asbestos containing materials we were unable to remove those items from the home so it took longer to dry out those areas. We tried scheduling a pickup of the equipment before the date we actually pick it up but were unable to get a response from our calls and voicemail. We did have a pickup crew contact home owner after they were done with their route to see if they would be available to have the equipment picked up. The response as stated above was a no. We were finally able to get it arranged for pickups later that week. As for the insurance company stating that we caused extra damage to the property due to the fact we removed the tile that was in good condition, We follow the IICRC guidelines when dealing with Category 3 Sewage contaminated tile. We had to remove the tile to be able to clean and treat the sub-floor below due to the fact that if we left it it could cause numerous health concerns. The mitigation was complete following the IICRC guidelines. When removing Tile and Hardwoods that are attached to the sub-floor it is common that the sub-floor will get damaged due to the sub-floor being wet and having to pry the items from the sub-floor. This sort of damage is covered by the insurance company due to the fact that it is a known risk when dealing with these types of materials.

Poor service and lack of response
On 3/29/17 I hired this company to do water removal via the NY division. They did a poor job with the cleanup. There is still water and moisture in the basement. I also asked for a copy of the final bill they have not supplied one. They billed the insurance company directly and won't give me a copy. They are dishonest as they told us the cost would be $2200 but they billed the insurance company over $3300. They don't return calls and if you talk to the live they lie to you. We feel taken advantage of since we were in an emergency situation.

Desired Outcome

Explanation of charges and refund of over charges and explanation as to why it happened

Emergency Water Removal Response

Customer requested a cash price for the work to originally be done. He was given a quote for $2200.00 after hearing the quote he decided to allow his insurance company to handle the claim. When dealing with insurance companies we are required to run all work through a billing software called Xactimate which is an industry standard billing software. We enter what was done on the property per square foot. The software populates the price that we send over to the insurance company. During the restoration process the customers property re-flooded due to the customer tripping a breaker. We came out and extracted the location again which also caused the equipment to be necessary to leave for extended days. Once the dry out was complete we walked the location with the insurance adjuster from the customers insurance company and checked all location with a moisture meter and determined the property was dry at the time of completion. We have photo documentation to support. We have submitted the invoice to the customer as well as the insurance company. As of this moment the job was completed to industry standards and the insurance company has sent the customer the funds for the restoration services provided and verified by the insurance company.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
We were never given a cash price versus an insurance price. The basement reflooded when the breaker tripped because they did not plug the fans in correctly. When they set everything up the first time they tripped the breakers several times but apparently still continued to use the same outlets. We thought they changed how things were plugged in but apparently they didn't change anything until the basement flooded again. When they came back the second time they plugged all fans into the spider box like they should have originally. Once that happened none of the breakers tripped again regardless of what was turned on in the house. The basement still had wet spots when the fans were removed because they didn't check the entire basement. We had to set up our own fans to finish the drying process.
