Mr [redacted] has a dental insurance plan that pays based on a table of allowances per service, not a percentage of the fee His insurance company would not give us the table of allowances, so we had no way to give an accurate estimate We collected 50% of the fee and explained that we would refund or bill the balance due after the insurance processed the claim, and that we had no way to know what they would pay Mr [redacted] was given both treatment options He made the choice of treatment Because he came in on emergency, there was no time to request a written confirmation of coverage levels from the insurance company, which would be the only way to get a "quote from the insurance company." All insurance companies state that information given over the phone is not a guarantee of payment, therefore we can only "estimate" and wait for the claim to be processed In addition, he was advised of the situation with his insurance carrier, and signed the treatment plan that indicates the patient is responsible for the total balance, regardless of insurance coverageWe did not "mess up." Mr [redacted] was advised from the beginning that we had no way of determining specific coverage We tell every patient that our estimate is not a guarantee of coverage, and that they are responsible for the total cost of treatment His representation of this situation is totally inaccurate

I went to the dentist to check out an aching toothThe dentist diagnosed it as an infection in the tooth, as well as, the rootThe receptionist came back with the quotes from Insurance company for having my tooth either extracted or repairedThe extracted would cost $after insuranceTo repair would be $Now , of course, these are estimatesI have been going to the dentist for some time I know how it worksI could not believe the cost but I went ahead and had the tooth repairedAfter visits, everything was done and I had paid a total of $ Roughly two weeks later I got another bill for an additional $After calling them they said that all the paper work had not gone thruThat I should not worryI got another bill later that week, saying that the insurance would not cover the entire procedureThey assumed it would cover at least 50% but that was incorrectSo as it stands they want me to pay a total of $out of my pocket when I could have
