Review: On March 29th 2014, I [redacted] representing [redacted] of Sussex County, attended a Public Auction held by Emmert Auction of Rehoboth Beach Delaware.
I bought several Items at the auction, the next day when I went to pick up my items, one was missing. I did not get any customer service help from Emmert Auction. I called twice, I did not get a return call.
The day of the auction I arrived 1-2.5 hours after the auction started. While I was at the auction noticing a couple of very good buys, I wanted to get involved, I did not have a number. The caller of the auction noticed I wanted to bid on the next item, I told him I did not have a number. He told me bid, so I did without me being signing up and without a number, when the item I was bidding on was closed, I was the highest bidder he then yelled over to several Emmert Auction assistants and that time I was assigned a number. Now with a number I continued to bid on other items. When finished bidding I paid the cashier, I asked how much time do I have to remove the Items I just purchased, I was told By Sunday afternoon.
Sunday afternoon around 1 – 2 pm I arrived with a helper to pick up my items, I located a Emmert Auction employee and ask for his assistance, He helped me locate all of my items except for one item that was not in the building where the auction took place. The Emmert Auction employee called the office he explained that my item was missing, during this phone conversation between the two Emmert Auction employees, I was never told that I was not going to be reimbursed for the missing item. I was told to call the office during the week, I called the Emmert office and left a message on their voice mail, I did not receive a call back, I called again spoke to customer service, explained what had happened, I was told by the customer service that “ It was my problem” I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told one was not there, I asked for a supervisor call me back, I never received a return call from any Emmert Auction representative.
At this point this issue was at a Dead end. I, we at [redacted] of Sussex County tried to reaching out to Emmert Auction for an amicable resolution regarding this issue, were given no other option but to contact Revdex.com.
I was never given Auction rules or a disclosure statement, or terms of sale of any kind. I was allowed to bid without having a Bid Number.
Sincerely,
ReStore manager
