Empire Door Corp Reviews (3)

Empire Door Corp has performed previous work over the years on both our home and rental properties overhead doors. In January 12, 2015 they were contacted because the spring in the double door at our home was broken. While repairing the spring, the repairman ( [redacted] ) said that there was a problem with a bracket on the right hand side of the lower panel. He said that he could replace the bracket with another that would stabilize the panel and did so. In June I found screws on the floor, looked at the panel and the bracket. What had been installed was a non-standard metal piece with what appeared to be three screws. The metal piece was now twisted. I called for repair. [redacted] came out and said the panel now had to be replaced. I could see the screws that came loose, had torn the panel and asked for a cost estimate. I was told between three and four hundred dollars. I told him to order. Actual price was over one hundred and fifty dollars more, but the door was fixed on Friday, July 3rd by [redacted] and another man. This week the door had started to bind and not close as that panel tries to move down the track. It takes several attempts to close the door. I called Empire to get a tech to come and look at the door. When I was told that [redacted] could come out I requested another tech since I am concerned that [redacted] is creating future work for himself. I was told by the lady answering the phone that she would need to speak with her boss and we agreed that a tech would come on Saturday, July 18th. She came back to the phone saying her boss would be there with [redacted] and it sounds like I need a new garage door opener. I told her it worked fine prior to the panel being installed. I was very clear that I did not want [redacted] back to my home. She said replied that was what they would do. I told her that was not acceptable and I would look for someone else to view the door. She said fine and hung up the phone. I then looked to see if they were BBB accredited which they are not, my error. Since I have done business successfully with Empire for years, something has change. Perhaps sold and has new owners? I did look for an accredited business which will be out Saturday to view the door. I own service businesses in both the East and West Valleys which are BBB accredited. We will do an estimated 25,000 services this year and I should have made sure Empire was accredited. I will see what happens on Saturday with estimates and probably hand this over to my attorney for advice.
