Review: I hired Empire Plumbing to do plumbing for my apartment kitchen and bathroom renovation:Initially very friendly with a low initial quote of $5,575 [redacted] added on "extras" until the whole job totaled $8,200.We discussed for example the layout of the gas piping on multiple occasions but due to his not taking notes he laid the pipes incorrectly and had to redo that portion of the job. Not only did he charge for the redo (to correct his error) but he charged "extra" for the original error too even though laying kitchen gas pipes was included in original estimate.During meetings with the [redacted], the ** and based on his having done work in the building previously he knew what the building requirements were but then too added on "extras" for having to replace certain pipes back to the riser.His workman [redacted] caused $500 of damage to the kitchen wall and bathroom ceiling but neither [redacted] nor the [redacted] would take responsibility for the damage.When I disputed the charges (and cost of damages) he threatened me with a mechanic's lien if I didn't pay his demand. I am in the process of refinancing and couldn't deal with having a lien on the property so I paid up.Desired Settlement: I attempted to negotiate and meet him halfway or least have him refund for the damage caused by his workman but was unable to get him to budge.
