Hello,
My wife and I purchased a home and the seller chose Empire West as the title company. Our escrow officer was [redacted]. We had a terrible experience with him. On several occasions he was wildly rude and condescending. My wife used to work at a title company and knew the lingo. At least on one occasion he wildly over exaggerated the time a task would take and gave us bad information about the effects of compound continues interest on our loan.
He uses it years of experience as a shield and is very proud and arrogant. He thinks he knows it all and you as a customer do not matter to him. He stubbornly refused to give us approximant time estimates so we could make plans. Really any question would be given as though we were stupid or simply not answered at all. We had to force communication by bothering our agents and bank to talk to him as it did not appear he was talking or getting the things they needed.
The closing was pushed back (Not completely his fault but his actions did no help resolve the issue). On the day of our closing, my wife was in the neighborhood and stopped by to see how things were going. [redacted] came out and was very rude saying “Who told you to come here?!”. He then proceeded to give my wife a talking to about how this process works and that we should be grateful to him for getting things done. He said it normally could have taken a week for him to deal with some issues that came up when pulling the title report. He told my wife that it could take anywhere for minutes to days for the title to be recorded but remarkably invited her to wait. With how she was treated, understandably, she decided not to wait. The title recorded 11 minutes later and happily our business with [redacted] was ended.
In a world with online reviews and easy accessible information on these topic, I fell that [redacted]’s behavior was unacceptable and not warranted. We understood that this process takes time and is heavily regulated more than most. However, all we really needed is clear, accurate, timely information and updates. With the treatment we receive, you can be sure that one title company will not be considered if and when we decide to sell our home.
Thank you,

Terrible experience! Perfectly acceptable legal documents other major title companies have accepted were disputed at every possible turn, until a lawyer had to step in to explain statutes and laws and inheritance exemptions. Poor communication from [redacted] branch manager (Izzy N[redacted]) - would take hours and often days to confirm things and was disorganized and inconsiderate on the phone. Attempted to recap attorney fees but VP Operations (Debbie H[redacted]) defended her employee and offered, "while it's not an excuse, I'm just saying that he can get busy which makes things crazy sometimes". My realtor was embarrassed by their actions and conduct. In addition to the title fees, I paid 980.00 to my attorney who had to school them on AZ law. Will never recommend this agency, nor will my realtor.
