Enck's Gun Barn Reviews (%countItem)

I went to ***'s gun barn,to get repair work done, early december 2019 told the guy what needs done.
Then I decided to come back to get the work done, first I must say the guy was rude saying oh its you again,I figured ok,but I wanted to get this work done,so I ask him will it be done after christmas not after new years. He said yes it will be done after christmas, then I called them and he told it hasn't been looked at,thinking you know what needs to be done. Then I called after new years, and the same thing not done,I ask him when then he said in two weeks it will be done I will call you.
On january 27th I want to pick it up not done.the ladies that work they didn't know so the gunsmith came over I talked to was rude when I ask him how come the job was not done.He came up with excuses,
first it was hunting season, which that has nothing to do with that, then it was I haven't done this job in a long time I had to look for instructions. How does a gunsmith that did it before need instructions. So again he said you could leave it here and I will get to it,so I said how long, don't know is what he said, and I had to tell him about what needs to be done and it don't take that long to do,just have to be careful and I am not a gunsmith.I told him its unacceptable to do this as I am the customer.I don't know how that place stays in business for gunsmithing.Very rude to any customer and now I see why there is bad reviews, dishonest for one and another for gunsmiths, and more.
I have called a couple of times to find out when I could pick it up,same thing it hasn't been looked at will call you, almost two months later, this guy is a poor excuse for a business man and does not know how to treat customers. That place is a waste of time and I don't recommend doing business with them. They should have called with updates like other businesses do.
If can't be respectful to customers or do your job right, and in a timely matter don't work in a gun shop.I had my doubts about this place after reading the reviews.

Enck's Gun Barn Response • Feb 12, 2020

When this repair was brought to our shop, it was hunting season as well as we had just reduced our gunsmith personnel from 2 to 1. Why he would have been given a time frame of less than 1 month, I really can't answer. I will mention here that when we were first approached about doing this work he did not have the firearm with him. He thought the work (barrel) could be done without the entire firearm. On his second visit (where supposedly someone said 'you again' is when he brought all the parts needed to do the job. I do know that at some point in the interactions, he was told it would be done by January 31st. He came for it 1 week prior to that date and that's when he was extremely rude. It is not a practice to contact customers and give updates on work progress. We call the customer when the job is finished to inform them they can pick it up. Because of the reduction in personnel in the gunsmith area, Mr. (owner) has been working in the Gunsmith area to help clear out any backlog. So much for the Gunsmith area issues. There are always two sides to a story and although he states that he knows we would lie, it goes both ways. . Some of the things mentioned in his letter that were said to him were not correct. It is very difficult to be nice and try to placate a customer who is rude and obnoxious The gunsmith who said he had to refresh his knowledge on fixing the issue was being totally truthful, since certain jobs are not done for years at a time. It would be interesting to know if he has found anyone to do the job he wanted done and what time frame he will get it, if he is truthful about it. There are some customers that a business is better off not having. The customer is not always right.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:When I came there I did have my firearm with me to show what needs done,I did not think the work could be done without then firearm, but that's not the point. When I gave them my firearm I was told after christmas it will be done not jan 31st that is a lie, again I was told after christmas not after new years. No one said to me that it was hunting season or was short staffed when I gave them my gun.He only said that about hunting season after I question him on why the job was not done.If am correct hunting season is over before new years. Lets talk truth,no they did say anything to me about hunting season or reduced our gunsmith personnel from 2 to 1.He says lies go both ways, guess what they just lied to you, nothing was said about hunting season to me when I first came there. They were rude and obnoxious.

And to tell a customer I couldn't find the instructions on how to do the job is sad. And yes I am am being truthful.A business like them could lose customers, look at some of the reviews, being dishonest, gunsmith lying, talk about being truthful. And yes most of the time the customer is always right.

FYI I did take it to another gunsmith and got it done in a couple of days, and that's the truth.Plenty of gun shops around.
