Energy Harbor

I was unaware Energy Harbor/ First Energy Solutions until my billed DOUBLED. I called to ask about the amount and was told since I did not call to see if there was a lower price per KWH that I was auto renewed at double what I was paying. How can a company charge you double the rate you were paying because I didn't call in and ask for the lower rate? ABSOLUTE SCAM! I will be telling everyone I know to avoid/drop Energy Harbor.

Why is a company that declares bankruptcy adding charges to our electric bill? This is a corrupt system and I will get an answer from the governor and local officials.

I selected Energy Harbor as my alternative energy supplier. I was with their former company, First Energy Solutions, prior to the name change. I haven't experienced any issues with either of them and I highly recommend their company, as an alternative energy supplier. I like and appreciate that they are a small privately held company, instead of a mega corporation. The difference clearly shows.
Energy Harbor focuses on clean energy and the environment through nuclear energy and carbon free electricity. The nuclear energy life cycle, carbon emissions is comparable to wind generated power. I'm all about renewable energy and the environment. Again, highly recommended!!

My local community has an agreement with Energy Harbor to aggregate electric services at a 3% discount. I was enrolled in the program by default. If you don't opt out, your automatically "in". I was in the pogrom for around a year when I started getting offers from other companies. I decided to switch to another provider at a lower cost per KW. A week later I got a letter from Energy Harbor saying that I owed a $25 cancellation fee. I called them to see if they would help me. I wasn't aware of the cancellation fee because I had never actually signed a contract or explicitly agreed to a contract. I expected there to be some compassion for the customer especially since they were working with the local township through the aggregation of services. They did not offer to waive the cancellation fee. I was forced to switch back to them and finish out the last three months of the "contract". at the risk of getting another cancellation fee from the new provider. I am very disappointed with Energy Harbor. I felt their behavior was predatory, and not customer friendly. I must say that the operator was polite and professional but did not have any authority to deviate from the contract. After my contract expires I will leave Energy Harbor and never consider using them again. I will also talk to my local elected officials and share my experiance with them. No Stars!
