It was our Pleasure to be of Service for you. We cant be cool if your not thank you and remember we are only one call away Sam.

An HVAC system was installed in my home in January 2017. The installation was faulty and caused a variety of problems with the system.
In January 2017 Energy Masters installed an HVAC system in my home. There were problems with getting the system to function properly from the beginning. Energy Masters came out a few times and angrily insisted that I was doing something to the thermostat. I was not touching the thermostat. The final Orange County inspection was not completed for one year despite my continued requests for it to be completed. A drainage pipe that removes moisture from the system was kinked in the process, a truly rookie mistake. That kinked pipe caused the system to flood into the lower plenum, an adjoining closet, and bedroom. It also caused an outside circuit board and the compressor to be damaged through short circuiting. A wire was crimped by the improper placement of the cabinet door, and a fuse also blown during the installation. My insurance company has covered all of the costs to remove the water and dry out the area. Energy Masters hid their insurance company from me even refusing to accept a return/receipt requested letter seeking the information. Their broker also denied that they handled Energy Masters as a client. The cost of renewing the system was $1,400.00. The compressor was $979.00 and the service to renew the system was $421.00. I would like Energy Masters to reimburse me for the $1,400.00 out-of-pocket expenses. The outside circuit board was covered by the factory warranty. I chose to utilize the services of another company, *** Heating and Air, to renew the system. I had lost complete trust in Energy Masters or their abilities. It might be of interest to mention that the owner, Sam ***, used two unskilled, unlicensed employees to perform the installation, "under his supervision".

Desired Outcome

I would like Energy Masters, Inc to reimburse me for my out-of-pocket expenses to renew the system. That would be the $979.00 for the compressor and the $421.00 for the service charges.

Energy Masters did the Install I had a stroke in the following march causing a delay in the finalizing of said permit we only give a one year warranty and after the year had expired the customer called and said he had a leak that caused water damage to his home we were and are covered by *** ins. I respectfully referred my ins. Company to the customer but as the largest thing on our contract besides our Name is the words not responsible for water damage this all happened after our o e year warranty was over this resulted in an out of cost to my insurance 2000.00 for the claim any thing wrong with the said system has a 10 year warranty by the manufacturer our warranty was over at 1 year.

Energy Masters, Inc owner may well have had a stroke. That information was never revealed to me, despite my repeated requests, for a year, to complete the inspection, AND matters not in the huge delay getting the Orange County inspection completed in a timely fashion. The kinked pipe (kinked in the original installation) of which I provided a picture, was the primary cause of the flooding. BUT, the crimped wire, due to securing a cabinet door improperly OVER the wire, and the blown fuse, would have caused this flooding as well. This was a faulty installation. I had returned from traveling in September 2018 to find this mess! The employee who shifted the switch, disabling it, was also at fault. That switch is a key element in the proper function of this system. It signals this very condition. The messages/codes coming from the system, in September 2018, were the very same messages/codes that the system was providing just after the installation in January 2017. The system was NEVER properly installed! Energy Masters employees should have done more thorough investigation to determine the source of the problem. My issue at this time is the cost to renew the faulty installation mistakes, and pay me my out-of-pocket extra expense, paid to *** Heating & Air, the direct result of the improper installation. I want my $979.00 for the blown compressor, AND the additional costs of $421.00 to renew the system. This is not a labor warranty issue. It is a horribly faulty installation, done by unskilled employees under the "supposed" supervision of the owner. If only a proper review of the installation, in January 2017, had been done, with specific attention to the messages/codes on the thermostat, this entire event could have been avoided. It should not be overlooked that Energy Masters, Inc refused my return/receipt requested USPS letter. They knew who that letter was from. If they had opened it they it would have revealed that I was seeking the information about their insurance company. They made every effort to delay, deny, and escape any responsibility for this horrible installation. It was only after my insurance company became involved, and exercised their subrogation rights, that Energy Masters was forced to provide the insurance information, and pay the subrogation claim. Energy Masters sought to avoid any responsibility for this mess. And, since the "proper" inspection was not done until January 2018, thereby legally completing the installation, any labor warranty should have begun with that date. That would have been the actual final date of installation....the completed, properly inspected date of installation. Energy Masters created this horrible mess through their own inappropriate installation processes. They own it!
I believe that for the moment all of my documentation has been submitted. If further documentation is requested I remain available to provide that.
Though of minor consequence now, as I have repaired it and repainted the wall, one of Energy Masters employees punched a hole in the opposing wall when he jumped down out of my A/C cabinet area. These were all such rookie mistakes!

The owner of Energy Masters wants to just, "sweep this under the rug", with as few specifics as possible. He refuses to accept my contention that the official beginning of my labor warranty will be January 2018, the date of the final inspection. I note that the labor warranty is no longer an issue he wants to explore. The date of the flooding was September 2018, well within the one year labor warranty period provided by Energy Masters. The crimped wire, run mistakenly under the cabinet door (a really rookie mistake!), and the subsequent small blown fuse are directly related to the switch that was disabled, through tilting it upwards, by an Energy Masters technician. Those issues are secondary to the "kinked" pipe that caused the flooding originally. The entire evaporation system was disabled; be it by KINKING the drain line, crimping the switch wire, or blowing a small fuse. There was nowhere for the evaporated water to go! So, it flooded the plenum, a closet, and the adjoining bedroom. The flooding caused the outside circuit board to be blown along with the compressor. Water and electricity do not mix well! Ask any high school science student. The entire installation was done by two unlicensed young men (the owner's stepsons), and was supposed to be " properly supervised" by the owner. It was an "on the job training exercise" on an upgraded, sophisticated HVAC system. And, were it not been for ***'s well experienced personnel, there might have been much more damage.
Energy Masters answer as to why it took a year to complete my installation inspection is not valid. Certainly there were other personnel working for the company that could have helped complete the inspection. I was told that there was a storm that damaged their warehouse and equipment. Did the company not function for the duration of the owner's illness?
And what of Energy Masters attempts to hide their insurance carrier from me. Why did they not accept my "return/receipt certified mail" letter? They knew who it was from.
They knew that there had been problems with the installation. The thermostat had been putting out the very same messages/codes at the time of the flood as were being displayed after the initial installation. If the entire installation process had been properly reviewed, Energy Masters might have discovered the problems in the installation. They grew frustrated, their technician yelled at me, accusing me of playing with the thermostat, and he left. But, he had forgotten to vacuum out the drain line (the very same "kinked" line). So, he returned and performed the task several minutes later. It was the drain line! He never bothered to look under the cabinet to inspect the drain line! That is precisely where the original problem existed!
I am only asking for what is due me for my only out-of-pocket expenses. My insurance company is being paid through their subrogation process. I want the $979.00 that I paid for the new compressor, and the $421.00 it cost to service and renew the system to proper operating condition. That total is $1,400.00.
For the record, there were some valuable things stored in that closet. There was a briefcase with valuable coins. The briefcase and some of the coins are damaged. There were expensive dress shoes that were destroyed too. I am not pursuing those costs at this time. But, if this matter is not resolved satisfactorily, those other items may become issues. I simply want what I believe is due me for my loss and expense from the faulty installation of my Goodman HVAC system by Energy Masters..
