I received a letter about a complaint from [redacted] regarding a water softener installed in her rental house in March 2015. I charged [redacted] $282.59 for parts and labor to install a used water softener she previously purchased. I did drop the top and replaced it with another one...
I just happened to have in storage. I did tell [redacted] that I could not warranty a used softener she purchased on her own, I was only hooking it up the main water supply of the home, which I did. I did tell her I would put a new battery in, which is just a back-up battery, and does not affect the function of the water softener, but I never heard back from her. I am assuming she never bought a replacement battery since I never heard from her. I never received a message from [redacted] the entire time she lived at her rental house that the water softener wasn't operating properly, but then again, I did tell her that I was only hooking up the unit to the main water supply, not warrantying her used unit. She did contact me that she was moving out because her landlord was not renewing her lease and needed the unit removed and the drywall replaced. I went to her house to look at the unit in November 2015, to tell her what needed to be done and realized she had thrown out the drywall. I scheduled a time to come back. She rescheduled because she was cleaning her new home and then she stood me up for the second appointment. I had waited in her driveway for 30 minutes, then left, she contacted me after that. I never told her I would remove the unit or replace the drywall for free. [redacted], the landlord, would have charged her the $125.00 for the water test anyhow, as she made an alteration to her rental home that is not customary. I do work for [redacted] and in March 2015, I told her I would not do the work until she had approval, which she obtained, but that is how I know they would charge her the $125.00 to test the water after her lease was up.
