paragraph he said I tell hem have water mix on oil and its not truth I tell them on my first call that come out a lot white smock from tail pipe and runs rough and I see some signs of mix water on oil when I took of the dipstick before I run the engine and tell me check the spark plugs or replace and a bout white smock what problem have the previous engine and I tell pass coolant to oil and said need run to reach temperature cause some times stock coolant in to catalytic converter and also perform pressure test if problem persist call back and also tell me why take so long to install the engine I tell them cause I work by my self on my shop and I inspect the engine to see what I need replace and order parts so after few weeks I do a pressure test and see drop psi on mint and I think cause the coolant system not full cause I run the first time lest the minute cause lot white smock come out and have the car inside of shop so I replace the spark plugs because they tell me and run the engine again also have the same radiator hose and radiator and have new coolant full and bleed coolant and check by temperature gauge on the car and always I use my temperature infrared gun to make sure the gauge work properly so I run the car for lets the minutes and are still the same runs rough no change at all so I check why runs rough and found cylinder 3&have coolant on cylinders and not over heated max temp reach on inlet and outlet but I forgot check the heat tab before install the engine so one heat tab install by exhaust manifold they get high temperature over so that one are melted so I call engine world and tell them the problem they pass coolant to cylinders 3&and ask me for the invoices of parts I replace I send all the info they require and also for the heat tabs so a couple days lather I call and tell them what they found or what solution they have and said not warranty the engine cause I over heated and the invoices on parts I replace they not current why between one and other are over invoices different and I tell cause I m not buy on same day cause I m looking one by one what I need replace so I explained I never over heated cause I use my infrared gun and check on temperature gauge and tom said the engine get over heated on lest the a minute and its not truth cause need runs more than min to over heated so he offer me a second engine for $and rejected because if the first one I pay the price they one and are bad how a bout the second wed discount are bad too so I tell now he said he cant do anything so my customer call me for hes car so I fig out what I need to do to make happy my customer so I decide replace the gasket so I take the cylinder head out and I clean the surface so when I clean I found the head are cracked on both cylinders 3&so I took to a machine shop to see if they repair the head and I consult weed different machine shops a bout causing this issue and tell me they cant repair the heads cause its the commune problem on those engines after 70,k miles so the best way are put a new head because if welded do not last longer more than miles so I buy the new heat install change old engine oil install new head gasket put new coolant have the same radiator , cap and hoses and runs fine no more white smock and runs perfect no more rough so the head and gasket, engine oil and coolant I spent dlls and the car runs like a champ so I attache pic of the cracks of the head and if need more info feel free to contact me at 503-969- [redacted] auto repair Pictures sent to business by email Final Business Response / We received a notification that a customer of ours did a chargeback on a purchase that they made from usThe customer Perris Auto Repair Center *** *** *** Perris, CA XXXXX)
made a purchase on 02/10/for a Toyota Camry 2.2L used engine the price of the engine was $plus taxThere was a $core deposit on the engine until it gets sent back to usThe cost of shipping through USF Reddaway freight to Perris, CA was $The total amount charged that day was $1,
We were contacted a few weeks later 02/26/by Mr*** of Perris Auto Repair CenterHis mechanic was stating there was a noise coming from the engineWe asked Mr*** if they had replaced any cooling system components while installing our engineMr*** said that they just installed the engine as it came and no parts were replacedWe asked about the history of the car and why they were replacing the engineThey told us the car was previously overheating when the customer brought the car to themAlso this car has over 350,milesIt was at this point we decided to have Mr*** send us pictures of the heat tabs that we place on the engine to determine if the engine had been overheated in while in their possessionMr*** sent a picture and the heat tab on the cylinder head was meltedThis indicates that the engine had exceeded degrees Fahrenheit and has overheatedOverheating is not covered under our limited warranty as per item #10) "All engines sold are equipped with heat tabsThe purchaser acknowledges receipt of engine with said heat tabs attachedWarranty will be null and void if any heat tabs are missing or meltedMelting occurs at degrees as a result of overheating."
The heat tabs we place on multiple parts of the engine are engineered and manufactured by a factory that distributes to companies all over the worldThese heat tabs (about the size of a dime) are placed on the engine for our protectionThey have a center portion filled with a metal that will melt and drip out if the engine exceeds degrees Fahrenheitdegrees Fahrenheit is the temperature that most car manufactures agree will begin to cause major internal damage to the engine assemblyWe place these heat tabs on the engine because our limited warranty does not cover overheated engines and this is the only way we as a supplier can tell if they did overheat the engineThe engine temperature is controlled only by the cooling system components and it is critical that when a replacement engine is installed that all the cooling system components get replacedThe most important part of the cooling system is the radiator and water pump both of which we not replaced when the engine was installed by Perris Auto Repair Center
It is required to replace these parts to ensure proper function of the engine and to maintain our warranty#7) Purchaser must change thermostat, radiator cap, water pump, belts, hoses and sensors for proper functionAlso, purchaser must install a new radiator or should have the radiator tested, flushed or rodded out by a qualified radiator service facility."
As stated as item #of our limited warranty if these parts are not replaced it could lead to overheating which is not covered under our warrantyA new radiator and water pump is crucial to maintaining proper temperature in the engine especially on a car with over 350,milesBecause Perris Auto Repair Center did not replace these parts the car overheated and began having issuesWe explained all of this thoroughly to Mr*** after we received the engine back at our location but he was not being understandingHe refused to believe what had happenedWe found excessive rust also in the cooling outlets of the engine he sent backThis is also a clear indication that Perris Auto Repair Center did not change the cooling system partsHe was demanding a refund also and we could not offer a refund on an engine that they overheated and damaged themselvesWe should not have to pay for their mistakeThey are a professional automotive repair facility and should have replaced these parts during the engine installationWe even ship the engine with an engine installation checklist attachedThis way even the installing mechanic will see that the cooling system parts need to be replaced
We ask that you reverse this chargeback because Engine World has done nothing wrong with handling this situationThe engine overheated due to improper installation and that is what voided Perris Auto Repair Center's limited warrantyWe explained to Mr*** the whole situation about how the cooling system components not being replaced caused this situationWe told him that we would not be able to warranty the engine or offer a refund due to the fact that it was overheated because of improper installationWe hope that you take the time to review this case thoroughly and fairlyIf any of this is automotive lingo is confusing please do not hesitate to call us for any further explanation
I have included a copy of the customers invoice and photos of the engine's heat tab and rust filled cooling system

we sent invoices over showing that all these parts were replaced and on the current invoice it states that the cooling system components were replacedWe told you this before many many timesi still have records of everything as wellthe engine did not over heat with us and the heat tabs had spray paint over themIf they would have melted the paint would not have stuck to themI also have pictures of the heat tabs as well
Final Business Response /* (4000, 15, 2015/04/23) */
We received the invoices from Perris Auto Repair Center and have reviewed them carefullyThe owner of EngineWorld is asking if the shop can provide receipts showing that these parts were purchased and not just put on the invoiceIf we can get copies of the receipts for these parts we may have more of a stance to fight the customer's positionIt seems like some of these parts were spread out over time but if the customer does keep copies of these receipts that would be great if they could send them over
The center portion of the heat tab is the only part that we are concentrating onThe center portion is the part that has melted and saggedThis is the indication that the engine got over degrees FahrenheitThe heat tab was placed on the coolant outlet as to get the most accurate reading from the cooling systemIf the coolant outlet was hot enough to melt the heat tab then the engine core temperature must have exceeded thatThe paint that is used on the engines is high temp enamel and it will not melt off the outer ring of the heat tabThe center portion of the tab was melted and the paint was missing from that part
Let's have Perris Auto Repair Center send over actual receipts of the parts replaced and see where we can take it from there
If you or Mr*** have any further questions please feel free to contact me *** 8am-5pm(XXX) XXX-XXXX EXT***

The customer [redacted] Dr. [redacted] CA XXXXX) made a purchase on...

01/30/2015 for a 1993 Toyota Camry 2.2L used engine. The price of the engine was $750.00 + tax = $817.50. Mr. [redacted] came in a few weeks ago and tried to have this engine warrantied stating the engine was having issues. We noticed that on the engine he brought in that both the heat tabs we place on the engine were melted. We asked what cooling system parts he changed when he installed the engine. Mr [redacted] stated he did not replace any of the cooling system components that we required to be replaced during the installation. The heat tabs we place on multiple parts of the engine are engineered and manufactured by a factory that distributes to companies all over the world. These heat tabs (about the size of a dime) are placed on the engine for our protection. They have a center portion filled with a metal that will melt and drip out if the engine exceeds 255 degrees Fahrenheit. 255 degrees Fahrenheit is the temperature that most car manufactures agree will begin to cause major internal damage to the engine assembly.
As per item #9 of our limited warranty it states: "9) All engines sold are equipped with heat tabs. The purchaser acknowledges receipt of engine with said heat tabs attached. Warranty will be null and void if any heat tabs are missing or melted. Melting occurs at 255 degrees as a result of overheating.
We place these heat tabs on the engine because our limited warranty does not cover overheated engines and this is the only way we as a supplier can tell if they did overheat the engine. These heat tabs work off of conducted heat (heat that is physically touching the heat tab). This type of overheating can only be caused by a malfunction in the cooling system. This issue was clearly caused from a cooling system failure. The engine temperature is controlled only by the cooling system components and it is critical that when a replacement engine is installed that all the cooling system components get replaced especially if the car had overheating issues before. In this situation no new cooling system parts were replaced and this caused the engine to get damaged and overheat.

Revdex.com Complaint# XXXXXXXX
Item #6 on our limited warranty it states:
"6) Purchaser must change thermostat, radiator cap, water pump, belts, hoses and sensors for proper function. Also, purchaser should have the radiator tested, flushed or rodded out by a qualified radiator service facility."
We explained to Mr. [redacted] that because the engine had now been overheated it could not be covered under our warranty. Mr. [redacted] did not understand this and demanded that we still cover the engine under warranty or issue a refund. We cannot offer a refund or warranty replacement engine on this purchase because Engine World has done nothing wrong in this situation. We provided a good tested low mileage engine to the customer. The customer Mr. [redacted] ended up overheating the engine due to improper installation. We have all of this information written on the customers invoice and on an installation checklist that is attached to the engine. We cannot be held liable for Mr. [redacted]'s failure to follow our warranty guidelines, causing our engine to overheat and voiding his warranty. It is unfair that he ask for us to pay for his mistake.
If you have any further questions about this issue please feel free to contact me at EngineWorld my name is [redacted] at Ext. [redacted]. (XXX) XXX-XXXX.

The customer [redacted]'s Auto Care [redacted] Way...

[redacted] XXXXX) made a purchase on 09/16/2015 for a 2006 Nissan Murano VQ35-DE 3.5L rebuilt engine. The engine was delivered that same day to their shop. We were contacted a few weeks later by [redacted]'s Auto stating there was engine oil leaking from the rear of the engine.
The shop had discovered a leak coming from the rear main crankshaft seal. [redacted]'s Auto was demanding we pay them to have this seal replaced. We explained to them that the rear main crankshaft seal is not covered under our limited warranty and we could not offer compensation to have the seal replaced.
Item # 8 of our limited warranty states: #8) Purchasers must install new oil pan gasket, front and rear crankshaft seals and valve cover gaskets. These gaskets and seals are not provisioned under this warranty.
Because this seal is not covered under our warranty we could not offer much help to [redacted]'s Auto. We told him we could send him a seal if the seal was defective. We asked if there was any damage to the housing or marks on the crankshaft that could have caused the seal to go out prematurely. [redacted]'s Auto was upset and we understand their frustration but because this seal is not covered we still could not offer them any money for fixing it. We ended up having a new rear main seal housing ordered from the dealership that day and overnighted to us. The new seal was dropped off and we have not heard back from [redacted]'s Auto since.
We are sorry we were not able to offer monetary compensation for having to replace this seal. We took care of everything as quickly as possible. We were as fair with [redacted]'s Auto as we could be within the confines of our limited warranty. We are sorry we were not able to help him as much as he would have liked. We still cannot offer any of the reimbursement that they are now asking for. [redacted]'s Auto is also asking for towing and labor costs to be reimbursed. Both of which is not covered under our limited warranty as stated as item #1) Purchaser agrees that EngineWorld is not responsible for any labor, parts, towing, installation, dismantling, reinstallation, transportation or freight claim, car rental, loss of work/wages, and/or any other related costs.

Revdex.com Case # XXXXXXXX
This was all explained it depth to [redacted]'s Auto during this process. We are confused as to why they are now demanding we pay these costs when they understand that it is not covered under the warranty.

This is the 2nd response letter for Case# XXXXXXXX. After reviewing the pictures that Mr. [redacted] sent, we do see the crack in the cylinder head that he is referring to. These cracks can be caused by the engine overheating. The fact that the heat tab sensors are both melted on this engine also tells us that this engine did get exceed 255 degrees at some point. If the head was cracked when Mr. [redacted] first started the car he would have noticed right away that the engine was getting hot. It should have never exceeded 255 degrees. That is why it is hard to believe that this engine had a cracked cylinder head when he installed it. We had already tested the engine at our facility for compression and oil pressure. We knew that this was a good engine when we shipped it out.
If the heat tabs had not been melted we could easily take care of Mr. [redacted] and provide him with another engine. But the fact that both heat tabs melted changes everything. Due to Mr. [redacted]'s installation the engine over heated. This was due to cooling system parts not being replaced at the time of install. The receipts that Mr. [redacted] sent do not have a date on them and do not show that they were purchased before he installed the engine. It looks as though he went out and bought these parts after the installation because the engine was overheating. Since the engine overheated in his possession we can assume that the cylinder head cracked and warped when he got the engine hot. Because Mr. [redacted] did not replace the cooling system parts before installation it caused the engine to overheat. We cannot be held accountable for Mr. [redacted]'s mistake. We cannot offer any reimbursement or refund on this purchase. We can still offer a discount on a replacement engine but that is all we can offer based off the information available to us.

The customer [redacted] of Midas - [redacted] Dr. [redacted] XXXXX) made a purchase on [redacted] for a [redacted] 5.3L used engine the price of the engine was $750.00.

We were contacted a few days later after...

the shop was done installing the engine in the car. They were saying there was a noise coming from the engine. We asked Mr. [redacted] to run the engine to let it get to operating temperature. We also explained to Mr. [redacted] that he needs to keep an eye on temperature and oil pressure before running it.

Mr. [redacted] called the next day saying the engine has completely seized up and will not turn. We asked Mr. [redacted] to send pictures of the heat tabs that we place on the engine. This is to check to make sure that our engine has not been overheated. We found that the heat tab on the block was melted.

Melting occurs at 255 degrees as a result of overheating."

This cannot be caused by a piston rubbing in the cylinder as the Mr. [redacted] states. Even if that was the case a properly functioning cooling system would have the capacity to keep the block and coolant running at the correct temperature. This was clearly from a cooling system failure. The engine temperature is controlled only by the cooling system components and it is critical that when a replacement engine is installed that all the cooling system components get replaced especially if the car had overheating issues before.

Item #6 on our limited warranty it states:
"6) Purchaser must change thermostat, radiator cap, water pump, belts, hoses and sensors for proper function. Also, purchaser should have the radiator tested, flushed or rodded out by a qualified radiator service facility."

We called and explained to Mr. [redacted] that because the engine had now been overheated it could not be covered under our warranty. Mr. [redacted] did not understand this and demanded that we still cover the engine under warranty. So we sent our driver to their location to inspect the heat tabs in person. We confirmed in person that the heat tabs were melted. So we offered to help him out as a favor for customer service. We offered Mr. [redacted] the option of purchasing a 2nd engine at a discounted price that would come with a new 6 month warranty. We offered $255.00 off the price of the engine so we could sell them a replacement for $495.00. They would be required to change out the remaining cooling system parts like the radiator and the radiator hoses to ensure that the engine would not overheat again.

Mr. [redacted] reluctantly agreed and he paid to have the 2nd engine sent over on 08/08/2014. After the second engine was dropped off we got a call back the next day. They had installed the engine but were afraid to start the car without us there. This was very odd and we said do not worry as long as you have changed out the parts you are required to change then you will be ok. We asked them to keep an eye on the temperature and everything will be ok. Soon after they called back to happily report the engine was now running fine. So after all everything worked out. I believe that Mr. [redacted] wrote this complaint before we had time to deal with the second engine.

We cannot offer a refund on this purchase because Engine World has done nothing wrong in this situation. We provided a good tested low mileage engine to the customer. The customer ended up overheating the first engine. They realized their mistake and purchased a second engine and replaced the necessary cooling system parts. This then allowed Mr. [redacted] to fix the car and get it back to his happy customer. We cannot be held liable for Midas' mistake of overheating our engine and voiding his warranty. It is unfair that they ask for us to pay for their mistake.

I have included a copy of Mr. [redacted]'s invoice with items #6 and 9 circled.

If you have any further questions about this issue please feel free to contact me at EngineWorld my name is [redacted] at Ext. [redacted] (XXX) XXX-XXXX.
