I have never received a statement OR phone call about this balance since I also did not 'state that my address was the same.' On the contrary, I had told them that much of my information may not be the same including my address as well as health insuranceIf I were trying to 'avoid' this bill then why would I go back into the office for migraine symptoms when I could have easily gone into a closer clinic or doctor? I also have always had my mail forwarded since moving and have gone back to my prior address to pick up additional mailI also always had the same phone number and never received a phone callI was shocked to have learned that I allegedly had a bill when I walked in the office with a migraineWhen the front office staff checked me in, that is when they handed me this alleged billAt this point, I stated that I would have to look it over and also contact my insurance but if anyone has ever suffered from a migraine, they will know how debilitating and painful they can beAt that very point, I was in NO condition to even read anything or think past the pounding pain that was occurring in my headNot to mention that even though the office manager knew I was suffering from a migraine, came into the office prior to a doctor while trying to address this alleged bill before I even could think straightI had mentioned to both the office staff and the manager that I was in no condition at the momentI have paid all of my previous bills prior to this alleged balanceI had been in that office many times prior and have paid my bills every timeOnce the office manager came in to discuss a bill, instead of perhaps calling me once I was feeling better, was when I made the decision that I would never return to this officeI did not have that idea until after this situationAlso, after stating that I just wanted to talk to someone about the migraine and after this I will not return because it was not appropriate how they were handling all of this, the office manager then stormed out of the room, stating 'your choice' and I waited a few minutes and no doctor entered to help me so my only choice was to leaveI then called about my sunglasses and stated that I would have to file a police report if my sunglasses were gone because at that point, I would assume they were holding my sunglasses as collateral for this alleged bill, which would have not surprised me at this point based on their treatment towards their patientsLastly, when I returned to pick up my sunglasses, the front office staff had an envelope with my name on it and said 'this is from the manager.' I then had stated that I have everything I need and they would hear about this further through a 3rd partyI had no idea what was in the envelope but I already had the bill that they had handed to me during the first encounter so there was nothing I was trying to 'avoid'

In reviewing everything on this patient, please note that this patient has had a balance with us that dates back to We have sent statements to this patient but all have been returned due to not having an accurate address for this patientWhat is most interesting to me is that when she came into our office last (11/16/15), we asked her for a new address and she told us that she was still at the address we had on file which stated Aurora, COWe have since once again, received return mail and I've noticed that she has listed with you a totally different address located in LakewoodThis patient has an insurance that requires her to pay 25% of the contracted rateThe patient is responsible for knowing her benefits so when she states that "the charges were bizarre and made no sense.", I have a hard time understanding why she is confusedThis patient has never paid a single dollar to this officeAs the Practice Manager, whenever the front desk informs me that a patient is confused why they have a balance, I will take the time to discuss it with them so that they have a better understandingWhen doing this, I have found it best to talk with the patient in the room while they are waiting for the provider so that we have the opportunity to discuss financial stuff in private verses in front of other patientsWhen I first started talking with this patient I let her know that we would still see her that day as I knew that she was not feeling well, but wanted a chance to explain her bill to herThe patient did mention to me that she was not interested in continuing her care with us beyond that days visitI did reply that it was her choiceThe patient decided to walk out of the office without being seen, it was not our decisionAfter leaving our office, the patient then called us to inform us that she had left her sunglasses and would be back to pick them upShe then went on to tell the front desk that we needed to be prepared that she would be bringing the police with her encase we decided to keep her sunglassesWhen she showed up the next day, we had a billing statement attached to her sunglasses, which she tore off and gave back to the office stating that she would not take anything from our office This has been an unfortunate situation and at this point I am concerned that the patient has done everything possible to avoid her financial responsibility with our office Attached I am sending you the patient's financial statementHere you will be able to see that this patient has never paid anything to our office

In reviewing everything on this patient, please note that this patient has had a balance with us that dates back to 2013. We have sent statements to this patient but all have been returned due to not having an accurate address for this patient. What is most interesting to me is that when she came...

into our office last (11/16/15), we asked her for a new address and she told us that she was still at the address we had on file which stated Aurora, CO. We have since once again, received return mail and I've noticed that she has listed with you a totally different address located in Lakewood. This patient has an insurance that requires her to pay 25% of the contracted rate. The patient is responsible for knowing her benefits so when she states that "the charges were bizarre and made no sense.", I have a hard time understanding why she is confused. This patient has never paid a single dollar to this office. As the Practice Manager, whenever the front desk informs me that a patient is confused why they have a balance, I will take the time to discuss it with them so that they have a better understanding. When doing this, I have found it best to talk with the patient in the room while they are waiting for the provider so that we have the opportunity to discuss financial stuff in private verses in front of other patients. When I first started talking with this patient I let her know that we would still see her that day as I knew that she was not feeling well, but wanted a chance to explain her bill to her. The patient did mention to me that she was not interested in continuing her care with us beyond that days visit. I did reply that it was her choice. The patient decided to walk out of the office without being seen, it was not our decision. After leaving our office, the patient then called us to inform us that she had left her sunglasses and would be back to pick them up. She then went on to tell the front desk that we needed to be prepared that she would be bringing the police with her encase we decided to keep her sunglasses. When she showed up the next day, we had a billing statement attached to her sunglasses, which she tore off and gave back to the office stating that she would not take anything from our office.
This has been an unfortunate situation and at this point I am concerned that the patient has done everything possible to avoid her financial responsibility with our office.
Attached I am sending you the patient's financial statement. Here you will be able to see that this patient has never paid anything to our office.

I have never received a statement OR phone call about this balance since 2013. I also did not 'state that my address was the same.' On the contrary, I had told them that much of my information may not be the same including my address as well as health insurance. If I were trying to 'avoid' this bill then why would I go back into the office for migraine symptoms when I could have easily gone into a closer clinic or doctor? I also have always had my mail forwarded since moving and have gone back to my prior address to pick up additional mail. I also always had the same phone number and never received a phone call. I was shocked to have learned that I allegedly had a bill when I walked in the office with a migraine. When the front office staff checked me in, that is when they handed me this alleged bill. At this point, I stated that I would have to look it over and also contact my insurance but if anyone has ever suffered from a migraine, they will know how debilitating and painful they can be. At that very point, I was in NO condition to even read anything or think past the pounding pain that was occurring in my head. Not to mention that even though the office manager knew I was suffering from a migraine, came into the office prior to a doctor while trying to address this alleged bill before I even could think straight. I had mentioned to both the office staff and the manager that I was in no condition at the moment. I have paid all of my previous bills prior to this alleged 2013 balance. I had been in that office many times prior and have paid my bills every time. Once the office manager came in to discuss a bill, instead of perhaps calling me once I was feeling better, was when I made the decision that I would never return to this office. I did not have that idea until after this situation. Also, after stating that I just wanted to talk to someone about the migraine and after this I will not return because it was not appropriate how they were handling all of this, the office manager then stormed out of the room, stating 'your choice' and I waited a few minutes and no doctor entered to help me so my only choice was to leave. I then called about my sunglasses and stated that I would have to file a police report if my sunglasses were gone because at that point, I would assume they were holding my sunglasses as collateral for this alleged bill, which would have not surprised me at this point based on their treatment towards their patients. Lastly, when I returned to pick up my sunglasses, the front office staff had an envelope with my name on it and said 'this is from the manager.' I then had stated that I have everything I need and they would hear about this further through a 3rd party. I had no idea what was in the envelope but I already had the bill that they had handed to me during the first encounter so there was nothing I was trying to 'avoid'.
