Services: chimney sweep and tuckpointing I was delayed a bit in getting the tuckpoint job started, but from start to finish the crew did an excellent job working around the rain and pointed out problems that were not initially noticed These were repaired where other contractors might have left it alone They were very organized and covered the work area to avoid messes and damage Clean up was thorough Mike and crew did a very nice job and I thank them

We had a conversation with [redacted] and explained the firebox was not under any warranty Normally if there is an issue shortly after the restoration we would return without question We also agreed to return to repairs the areas of the firebox in question This is to be done after the holidays when time permits This will be our last attempt to rectify the issue from years ago

Hearing news that there is $2,000+ in work needed to get a chimney in operational condition isn't easy for anyone to acceptRight off the bat, however, [redacted] & his team at English Sweep had a plan and worked with us to get the required work done and split the balance to paying at the time of service and the remaining balance on the next visit days outThe men who came out to do the work were quick and courteous and explained things as they worked if any questions popped upThey cleaned up nicely and did a great jobWe had the crown rebuilt, the flu re-lined, tuckpointing done below the roofline and weather resistant spray appliedOverall, we are more than satisfied with the work done The only area of improvement English Sweep should focus on is customer satisfaction over the phoneEvery call into English Sweep led us to speak with a person named [redacted] who seemed to dislike people, dislike his job or bothIf any of my phone conversations was my first impression of English Sweep, I'd probably still have a broken chimney today

We called Mr*** today (Monday 4/18/16) to schedule a meeting to resolve issues with the smoking fireplace for April 25th 7:30-9:30am The see-through fireplace is notorious for smoking during usage We may recommend the Enervex Exhaust Fan, or a sealed gasket door Make up air may be required if the exhaust fan is selected as the preferred option We will meet with relative(s) (if necessary) to expedite this resolution

I want to comment on the response by English SweepMalfunction of their internet services does not remove the fact that it took business days and numerous of phone calls to secure the inspection report, and photos that do not show damage because they are of poor qualityI want to make clear that their response does not answer the reason why the chimney flue was not cleaned prior to inspection, why estimates are giving without proper research of parts and part availabiltyThe estimate we received in the amount of $2,3xx.xx was a random estimate not based on any factsEven after English Sweep confirmed parts, the estimate was not updated to show part cost and labor cost

We have been incapable of meeting our estimates for outside jobs mostly due to rain (95%) and due to a large job that has required more work than sign for initially(5%). We have placed Mrs. *** $refund in the mail. We regret having to deal with weather and
failing to meet our goal. We will be more diligent in explaining if the season is excessively wet that work will be postponed. Please accept our apology for failing to get the job started. Thank you

I'd like to start off with a big thank you.

Your crew just left my house after relining the flue for my fireplace. They did a fantastic job. It looks good. They were on time, polite and professional. They cleaned up and left no trace of ever being there.

Everything was explained to me if I had a question. Warranties were explained with great care. Future upgrades to my system were discussed without any pressure to get it done until it needs to be.

You have three fine men working for you. In the future I will not hesitate to call on English Sweep for more work.

English Sweep refunded my deposit money.  The business should have done a better job communicating with me about whether or when they would be able to do my job.  If they had determined that my job could not be done due to their backlog, they should have had the courtesy to come right out and tell me so.  I do appreciate that they returned my deposit.
